Mischa Barton Says That She Is Not Crazy

Oh Mischa, here we go again!

The former, The O.C. actress took a break from being nuts, to make sure to tell everyone that she is not crazy.

She says that after her visit to a psychiatric hospital last year everyone looks at her and thinks she is insane…a little paranoid?

Mischa explained the situation:

"I had this terrible surgery to remove my wisdom teeth and it drove me mad. I had infections and I couldn't eat anything except Slush Puppies for three months and I can't tell you how awful it was. Anyway, I'd had enough and I went to the hospital. I was in a lot of pain and if they feel you are depressed or a danger to yourself they can hold you on a 5150. I am terrified of needles and they wanted to pump me full of drugs and I said, 'No, absolutely not. I don't want to be here,' and got into a fight with the nurses, and that led to my 5150.

"Part of me wishes those things had never happened in the public eye. I wish I could have been perfect. For ages after that 5150 I'd walk down the street and people would give me the crazy eye: 'There's Mischa Barton, she's insane, isn't she?'"

Hmm…many of us have had our wisdom teeth out and have not ended up in the psych ward.

Sorry Mischa, we hope things get better for you!

    What is a slush puppie?

  2. 2

I got a 5150 once because I told the police I didn't want to be in the same house as my parents. Didn't say I was going to harm myself at all. They hand out 5150's like they're candy!

  3. 3

well as most of the adult world can tell you, having your wisdom teeth doesn't lead to 5150 psych holds and fights with nurses. If you have issues after you calmly set an appoitnemtn with the dentist and they take care of it. Sorry, this rant confirms she has some serious mental issues. Get help.

  4. 4

why do you report on her if she has nothing interesting happening?

    what a waste of space.

  5. 5

Is it just me or does that photo look like she was photoshopped in?

    PEREZ!
Why is a mental disease something you should blame the person for. But a physical disease very sad?

They're both health problems that just happens to a person. Not by choice.

    Stop bullying!

"Hmm…many of us have had our wisdom teeth out and have not ended up in the psych ward."
    hahaha i love it!

OK Sweetie! Now back to your room to get ready for Tapioca Night; you like Tapioca don't you?

  10. 10

Someone is enabling her. The poor woman needs help. Pronto!

  11. 11

Hey, it's more than possible that she could be telling the truth. I've been placed under a few 5150's for admitting that i had felt depressed. Don't think just because it hasn't happened to you that it doesn't happen.

  12. 12

Why are you bullying again? You promised to stop. You are being a hypocrite. You probably should just avoid posting stories about her altogether if you can't find it in yourself to say something that is at least neutral.

Re: TulipSniper – 100& agree, Tulip. Tooth problems can absolutely lead to other issues, especially if there is infection.

  14. 14

Maybe she outta lay off sucking on straws, cigs, and drinking extremely cold stuff and then she would have healed faster.

I am over 40, okay, admitted it, do not, never had, wisdom teeth. one of those people. Anyhoo, a friend of mine had hers taken out during the summer, same age as me, so, yes, a little later than most, but they just started bothering her. BUT, she was in PAIN THE ENTIRE SUMMER, THE SOCKET NEVER CLOTTED. and no, she does not have a bleeding disorder. Kept going back for procedures to try to make the sockets dry up and heal, not be infected, etc. SHE WAS UNABLE TO DO ANYTHING. So, YES, MARIO/PEREZ, some people DO HAVE TROUBLE WHEN THEY HAVE THEIR WISDOM TEETH OUT. One of my Friend's problems was that her teeth had VERY LONG ROOTS, which the Dentist did not see on the Xrays.

I understand this is gossip website and not the most credible source of sound journalism. However i feel sometimes you report on stories in the most subjective way and attack the people who clearly aren't your favourites. You do bully certain celebrities and as a homo you KNOW BETTER!

  17. 17

That is one CRAZEE outfit though!

  18. 18

With the stigma that is around mental illness, i'm not surprised she won't admit to any if she has them.

  19. 19

I think what she's saying is believable. You can get weird problems sometimes with surgeries and such when the healing process isnt happening properly or something. You might be surprised

  20. 20

whenever you post anything relating to mental health issues it also has stigma and ignorance attached to it. its so fucking angering.

  21. 21

A friend of mine went to the hospital for a check up because she thought she had the flu. She didn't come back that night, and the next morning I had a message saying she was being taken to a psych ward and to bust her out in the morning.

    It happens.

  22. 22

Im not buying it. If she is so afraid of needles, then how did she have such a "horrible" dental surgery? Yeah they can give you gas, but if she is afraid of needles wouldn't surgery be even more scary? And yes I have had all four wisdom teeth removed and one did get infection. It was painful but nothing as severe as what she is making up. Nope, sorry Mischa not buying it. Maybe drug withdrawls made you go into that pyschotic episode when you were fighting the nurses? Needles aren't so bad when Heroin is in them huh Misc?

  23. 23

I can buy it. If you have a fear of needles you might not get those teeth pulled when they REALLY need it and it can turn to worse pain and infections. That almost happened to a friend of mine. And I wouldn't be surprised if she went to the hospital with severe pain, freaking out about and they marked her loony.

  24. 24

I had major problems with my wisdom teeth surgery as well and it did actually wind me up at the hospital at 3 AM screaming in pain and beginning to fear for my sanity. I was in horrible pain for 3 weeks and when someone is in pain for that long you really do start to lose it. Dry Socket and impacted teeth are nothing to thumb your nose at TRUST ME!

  25. 25

If she had such pain in her mouth how could she have drank the slush puppies for 3 months. They are cold aren't they? That would affect your teeth right? AND if in fact that is all she had for 3 months how come she is still such a BIG girl? She is definetly off her rocker. Take a good look at her. She's nutso.

  26. 26

Re: Babycakes!!! – Slush puppies are like slurpees or ices! Makes sense to me, because while she went through this, wasn't everyone saying she anorexic? I think that could happen living on a slurpee, Lol

  27. 27

I met some of the greatest people I know on the Psych ward.

  28. 28

I had two wisdom teeth removed, and I was back on my feet, acting like a normal person and eating normal food two days later. Yes, they didn't heal up properly, but I was a third year university student - I had to deal with it. Must have been a damned incompetent dentist. Or she must not have been drinking enough alcohol to kill the germs :P
She's got Tatler's front cover right now. It's weird. Though I do love her a bit.
