Happy Holidays From The New Skins Kids!

They're really pushing this promotional campaign, aren't they?!
Check out the latest batch of stills - including a 'Happy Holidays' message - from the upcoming American remake of the UK series Skins (above and below)!
Eh. We're still not convinced this will do anything but pale in comparison to the original!
Thoughts??

I really doubt that you know anything about the original.
They're trying way too much.
Meh, I'm still not sure whether or not this is going to be half as good as the original. I absolutely love the U.K. version (and this coming from an American). I just feel like this is going to water down the scandalous, yet entertaining bits that the original had. There is no way they are gonna let these people get butt ass naked and swear like they do in the original. I might watch just so I can get my fix until the 5th season of the real skins comes back on.
Wow, that is pretty vulgar, even by MTV standards. Remember when Gossip Girl did "OMFG"? That was a lot better.
Theyre trying way too hard to achieve what the British version had naturally. Not interested. But cant wait till the 5th season of the REAL Skins.
there isn't even a word to describe how shit this will be…. the british culture and sense of humour won't work the same way in america. i've watched the trailer for this, and i can't wait for it to be over already.
They're trying too hard to make it controversial and "edgy" serious overkill.
this is coming from a brit
i probably will watch he show just dissapointed that you are using the whole same plot as our version and i also feel tha it will be two americanishi mean cassie becomes cadie it just doesnt eem right for the brilaintness of the character cassie becase cadie doesnt go with cassies persona. haha if you get what i just said high 5
!but yeh dont ruin it america pleaseeeex xxxx
When I saw "Eat, Pray, Fuck", I had to click on this post.
Every time I hear the ad on tv, for the latest Julia Roberts' crappy, chick flick, makes me want to puke.

Chick flicks are difficult enough to endure with young starlets, let alone with over-the-hill actresses. JR looked like crap in Ocean's2many. The poor guys that have to sit through these kind of movies, that their women make them go see on date night.

Give me Neo and Trinity, from The Matrix, for a great love story, any day of the week. This movie never gets old and boring.
why doesnt mtv make a show about teenagers that is positive and doesnt involve getting shit faced or getting pregnant? thumbs up mtv, lets show teenagers that its cool to be a drunk slut.
It kind of pisses me off that they're trying realy hard to be controversial and vugal and stuff. Yes the uk version was all that but that wasn't there main goal. Skins is much more then drugs, sex and parties but it seems that that's what these people retain off it. And again THANK YOU MTV for fucking up an amazing show
Looks stupid, actually. And for people complaining about the Julia roberts movie (which I haven't seen), believe it or not, the book was good. I know.. Reading outside of the internet.. it is difficult for some.
I can't believe this shizz… Seriously? The UK version of Skins was NOT just about sex, drugs and that superficial controversial stuff that it is being marketed to be. It was much more than that. And as far as these ads go… it looks like MTV has something to prove and trying to compensate for what this show will not live up to. If the show is good, it will stand on it's own without all this obvious and shameless marketing.
I don't think it will be good, British youth culture seems more layered and interesting than american youth culture, MTV will wash the girt down with too many 'obvious' ways to prove thy are gritty and grounbreaking its bound to be lukewarm! they should leave skins to the Brits!
It wont beat the original!
This is a poor excuse for a copy. I watch the original and there is no remake. MTV needs to be a bit more original.
I was kinda excited to hear America was gonna get a taste of the amazing UK series, but to be honest, the first few episodes are gonna suck because they're going to be the same first few episodes as the uk series and I don't think they can top what has been done there but hopefully like Bryan Elsley said it's going to go in a completely different direction after that. However I do know they're keeping the chris dying storyline in the American Version.. let's see how that goes.
i really doubt US Skins will be any good, i'm British + i really don't understand why it has to be re-done.
If you like Skins, just BUY UK skins + put it on TV. Everything doesn't need to be hollywood-ified to be good.
idk, maybe it will be good- i'll see.
Re: stully22 – I agree… teenagers are already trying too hard. The last thing they need is this to influence them.
they need to change the name from SKINS to AIDS
i dont see the point in remaking it exactly the same,
like eloquence says, if you like skins just buy our one (the uk) and play that.
i just have visions of it being all 90210'ed! and thats so wrong!
def trying too hard with the ads too, i think the same of the more rescent uk series' the firth two were by far the best =)
Nothing will ever compare to the original. I think MTV needs to come up with an original TV show rather than take someone else's. Especially when the show is exactly the same as the original, but just with worst actors. Even the dialogue is the same!
it wont ever live up to the original, it needs to die soon so we can forget it ever happened
Do the yanks even know that Skins are condoms in the UK?
Uk skins will never compare to the original! I mean, shows are usually better with sex scenes and cussing in them. I enjoy it when shows or films have these elements because we all know they're part of every day life and at least have experienced one or the other or both at one point of our lives. The more realistic a show is, (I mean, that is, if the show is trying to be realistic), the better is if it has as many realistic aspects and situations as possible, because it makes it that more related to life and just enjoyable to watch in general. That's just the way I see it. U.S Skins won't cut it because it'll be missing those key elements that make the show in the UK, and if they involve them, then they'll be so watered down they'll just be useless.
