Khloe Kardashian Comes Under Fire For Insensitive Rape Comment

| Filed under: Icky Icky PooKhloe Kardashian

Completely understandable! She needs to understand that using that term the way she did is unacceptable!

Khloe Kardashian recently compared the new security precautions being taken in airports to being raped, and in response, many organizations and advocates for victim's rights are lashing out the reality star for her insensitivity!

Jazmin Robles, of the Santa Barbara Rape Crisis Center, explains:

“I think it was an ill-informed thing for her to say. It was a very strong comment to make because rape is defined as ‘forceful penetration’ and a lot of young women look up to celebrities like the Kardashians. We are all about educating people about rape at our Center and by using the word in this context it blurs the issue as to what it actually constitutes. Maybe Khloe Kardashian is not educated enough on this subject to be talking about it in the context of airport security.”

Attorney Gloria Allred also says:

“Rape is a crime of violence. I believe that the word should not be used loosely to describe security measures at airports or at any other place. I think that many victims of sexual assault who have been the true victims of men who committed that violent crime against them and who have been forced to suffer the physical and emotional harm that results from that crime would be insulted that the term would be used in the way that Ms. Kardashian used it. Words matter and the word ‘rape’ should be used with caution and with great respect for the victims who have been forced to endure it. It is completely inappropriate to use that word for scans or pat downs at airports.”

Jessica M. Cavey, of the National Sexual Violence Resource Center, also agreed with the previous sentiments:

“We do take exception to the use of the word ‘rape’ to describe airport security procedures, because that is both unfair to security personnel who have a different purpose for touching people; and it also minimizes the experience of an actual rape, which is a very severe and traumatic form of violence.”

All very well-spoken!

We're not sure if Khloe was just trying to be funny, or she honestly didn't realize how inappropriate she was being, but we sincerely hope that realizes that throwing the word rape around is not to be taken lightly, and that she puts more thought into what she says next time.

Furthermore, it's important that everyone tries to take more thought when speaking, especially on a public platform.

It may not seem like a big deal to some, but for many, those words and what they mean have had a devastating and permanent impact on their lives.

Good grief, wtf is happening?! She described that experience off-handedly and maybe she dramatized it. Big fucking deal! Move on! No biggie. If she explains herself or apologizes, I'm going to be disappointed. But I'm expecting an explanation/apology in the next 12 hours… @@

  2. 2

khloe kardashian wouldn't have brains if she paid for them and had them inserted into her overinflated melon. she's not funny or entertaining, she's flat out stupid……

  3. 3

very well said! im not sure if she realized what she meant but she probably didnt care, and when she finds out about all this backlash shes going to get all defensive and say well some people are way to sensitive and they need to get over it, which is bullshit she needs to man up and apoligize

  4. 4

Jesus Christ! I'm so fucking sick and tired of everyone wanting to edit everyone else that I could PUKE. I take issue with people like Allred breathing, but she continues to do it. I have no use for any of the Kardashians, but Khloe was clearly referring to how violated she feels about the OTT airport security. WTF is WRONG with everyone these days? Too many people need more to do and more to worry about if they have so much time to spend trying to censor others. Kardashian wasn't being "inappropriate." She was EXPRESSING HERSELF, and she's entitled to do so, even if the hyper-sensitive whiners don't like it.

  5. 5

While I agree it is comparing apples to robots, I'm a rape victim. She didn't mean it like that. Move on.

  6. 6

People really need to chill out America has freedom of speech and yet people can't say what they'd like without backlash go figure. Freedom isn't so free after all.

  7. 7

Khloe puts her foot in her mouth if Mommy isn't scripting her words. And the person who said 'people look up to celebrities…' Ohhhh, this is not the family you wanna look up to!

  8. 8

Stupid whore. The saddest thing about that story was the comment " a lot of young women look up to celebrities like the Kardashians." WHY???

  9. 9

all this F..g people and organization should stop been SO sentitive about what everybody says…..i you dont feel like that with one of those scans…..you have problems……or those people touching you! conio!

  10. 10

it really gives a wrong image about what airport securities are about and rape victims are extremely sensitive to this word - everytime they pass airport security they might now associate this with rape.

The kardashians are not educated enough to make any sort of comment to be honest, and they shouldnt take advantage of their 'celebrity' status because children and teenagers do look up to them (sadly…because getting money for appearances is worth looking up to)

  11. 11

You fucking people have nothing better to do then bitch about what some d list person said about the TSA. Jesus can everyone PLEASE stop being so sensitive about the petty petty things. Get over it. Worry about the way this country is going and the war and the economy and how Odumbie is destroying this country.

  12. 12

I am a rape survivor and I see nothing wrong with what she said.I will not fly no way having someone i do not know touch me to "pat"me down is like being raped all over again. They are invading my body and it is not wanted. Many sufferers have PTSd and a "pat' down will trigger them to relive there horrible ordeal. I suffer frOM PTSD and it would trigger mine. I do not deinfe rape as penetration I define it as disgusting and dirty and it changes your whole entire life . The airport people have a job to do but because of that jOB I will never get on a plane ever.

  13. 13

I just knew there was gonna be some backlash about her using that word. Her comment wasn't funny or appropriate at all. The TSA is there to do their job! Just imagine if a TSA employee didn't check thoroughly and let one slip by and jeopardize the safety of the lives of many people. They would lose their job and more importantly they would have to live with it for the rest of their life because they did not do what they are trained to do properly. We all know she is very outspoken, but there are things you just keep to yourself. I don't know if oftentimes she says things for shock value or just out of stupidty!

  14. 14

wOW. Hope the tsa thinks of those rape victims as they make people get groped. I won't be flyinf. Fuck that shit…

  15. 15

What is offensive are these new measures at airports. These new measures are taking away our personal freedoms, not protecting them. Seriously, people need to wake up and see what is going on.

  16. 16

Re: angeleyesm – exactly. well said. never flying again. only the rape victim remember everyday what happened, not the rapist or the jerk that want to touch you to "protect" you. bs!!

  17. 17

ummmm . . . .some people, perez included, need to get off their high horses! for all you self righteous a-holes, get over it! yes she was being dramatic but she was being dramatic to make a point. so frigging what? stop wasting your time over petty b.s., open up your eyes and realize there are much, much greater issues going on than a reality star's over dramatic description of tas invading her personal space. and yes it IS kind of a form of sexual harrassment. would this be allowed at any workplace? hell no! i mean anyone can bring a bomb or gun to work. shouldn't we do the same then? yes i am being sarcastic. your rights ARE SLOWLY BEING TAKEN AWAY FROM YOU. open your eyes peolpe!

  18. 18

    La Garse, AMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  19. buck says – reply to this

she should have used the word 'Superfluous" like that clown Obama did. Youtube 'superfluous obama' for comic relief, including goofy Obama grin. Hilarious, but something you won't see on main-stream media like they would have done to a conservative.

  20. dtm83 says – reply to this

is the american culture so sensitive, that ppl cant make a joke that everything that everyone says needs to be analyzed and dissected to this extent, she used a dramatic word to emphasize how invasive something is. obviously she was not putting down anyone who unfortunately may have been subjected to actual rape it was for cause and effect. SERIOUSLY AMERICA, GROW UP, STOP BE SO SENSITIVE TO EVERY WORD EVERYONE SAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  21. 21

As someone who experienced sexual assault, if you cannot deal with someone's off-hand comment, go to therapy. Seriously. Show how strong you are and how you will not allow the person who did those terrible things continue to have the ability to hurt you.

  22. 22

Re: La Garse – AMEN! Why bother to edit/chop up/autopsy everyone's comments???!!!! Let the Kardashian girls and EVERYONE say what the they want to!!! Why dissect what they say and force a FAKE/STANDARD apology or explanation?!?!

  23. Misa7 says – reply to this

Please!!!!!! why so serious, leave her alone!!

  24. 24

i would also like to say GloriA Allred is wrong men can be raped as well and rape can be oral as well. So i guess they should both stick their feet in there mouth.

  25. 25

Re: La Garse – Well said! Obviously, by some of the posts left here by rape victims themselves, nobody cares about what Khloe said and everyone here with a brain seems to understand that she didn't mean she was literally being raped. Get over it already people!

  26. 26

Good lord, you can't say anything anymore in this country. No, airport security checks don't compare to being raped, everyone gets that, including Khloe. Why put up such a fuss over what some faux-celeb says? And even though I'm sure that she didn't put much thought into what she said, did you ever think that being groped by airport security may actually cause psychological trauma to someone who happens to be a sexual assault victim?

  27. 27

I also need to add we are not victims we are survivors who are strong and know the difference between a pat down and rape. How can we confuse the 2 that is insulting. However these pat downs do give us flashbacks and can trigger us to relive the whole thing over . when someone stands too close to me or tries to hug me i freak.

  28. 28

    Re: Whatthe???
yet, you bitch about the people who are bitching about
    the kardashian kunt

  29. 29

Really? This twat says something and it's news worthy? lame!

  30. 30

Maybe she and her boyfriend role-play and he's a rapist:

He hides behind the curtains as she enters the house, he jumps out in front of her and shocks her, he starts beating the Hell out of her, breaking her jaw & left arm, he throws her on the floor, her head hitting the corner of the table creating a 3 inch bleeding gash in her huge forehead, ripping off her clothes he takes his arm and pounds the ashtray from the table into her forehead BLINDING HER INSTANTLY….FOR LIFE….he proceeds to RAPE HER, finishing… he leaves out the back door, leaving her on the floor in BLINDNESS to bleed to death……

Is that what you went through Khloe at the airport scanner? You poor thing!

  31. 31

Re: just keeping it real – one of those rights was having a choice to have healthcare - soon enough I'll be fined if I don't have it…….
Re: buck – thanx for the laugh……
Re: dtm83 – it's not all Americans, it's the liberal media that is bitching.

  32. 32

I SHOCKED people bought her book!

  33. 33

I hope she defends what she said… It's not that deep and I bet that most rape victims do not think she was belittling their nightmare. She is entitled to speak her mind… and use analogies.. She was expressing how AWFUL airline travel has become!!!!!! She wanted to use descriptive speech and DID! I get it! We should be more concerned about our freedom being infringed upon. We should be more concerned about how security and airports ARE NOT TRAINED well! They are insensitive, harsh and not properly trained in the art of FEELING US UP!!! I don't care what words you use. That is what they are doing, and it feels invasive, and for some (via news) it has been humiliating. We should be talking about training the people with these jobs to be sensitive to that! Instead we are talking about semantics. These groups and Gloria come out complaining demanding attention.. creating the controversy. I'm sure Khloe and EVERY OTHER WOMAN on the planet does not take RAPE lightly and does not wish it upon anyone!!!! To think otherwise is STUPID. This country is getting dumber by the hour. Makes me sick!

  34. 34

Re: angeleyesm – You're only a victim as long as you keep telling yourself that.

  35. 35

    What a dumb ass.

  36. 36

    Re: lalalaa – AMEN!!!!

  37. 37

I thought the comment Khloe was metaphorically correct usage of the word rape. Forcing someone to take a picture of their naked body to fly when the procedure has no evidential information supporting the procedure's accuracy is invasive and unnecessary, which is akin to rape. I should know, I am a rape victim.

  38. 38

  39. 39

I recently went through security at LAX to fly cross country and there were no pat-downs, no X rays —- PEOPLE be smart when you travel. Don't wear any metal and you'll go through the metal detector as you always did before all this media attention.

  40. 40

Clearly she was using hyperbole (exaggeration for effect and NOT to be taken literally)

  41. 41

"Furthermore, it's important that everyone try take more thought when speaking, especially on a public platform."

You are SUCH a hypocrite. Maybe it's time you start taking your own (or your ghostwriter's) advice. The things you say about people, the rumors you start/spread, the fact that you have outed homosexuals who were not yet ready to make their sexuality public… Who are you to scold people for being reckless with their public platform??

  42. 42

Since this post caught my eye I want to reach out to the many people who have been sexually assaulted and tell them its not your fault. I was 14 when it happened to me and it took until I was 30 to figure out what was going on. Since then I can actually live and have gained control of me back and its great. I blamed me for being in a place i should not have been. I did nto want to tell anyone because it was dirty and made me feel less of a person. A lot of incidences go unreported and people do not deal with what has happened. If you are reading this and you are one just like I was I urge you to talk to someone anyone because you should not be ashamed. it happened to you but it does not define you .

  43. 43

Re: msloriga – Seriously. I'm so tired of people being "offended" and demanding apologies for what amounts to NOTHING. I don't agree with everything that everyone says, but I respect their rights to SAY it in the first place. I'm tired of people being offended by the littlest things.
Re: gemigurl27 – Hell yeah … people need to get over this stuff.

  44. 44

WHO CARES. jesus christ it was just a comment, she did not actually mean rape. this is why i could never be a celebrity, you can't say anything without people attacking you.

  45. 45

  46. 46

As a rape victim, I feel no anger or hurt by her comment. She can't walk on eggshells just because she's in the public eye. She probably didn't realize the weight of the comment. Many celebrities have said much worse. Keep your head up Khloe. Let the haters hate. You're still my girl! ;)

  47. 47

  48. 48

Instead of freaking out over the use of words, shouldn't we be more interested in the feelings behind them? While I am sure Khloe's experience pales in comparison to rape, it HAS to be beyond intrusive when security can not only feel you up and down but can now see you naked!

  49. 49

Re: Kimberbunny – (Re: angeleyesm – You're only a victim as long as you keep telling yourself that.) Yeah, that person CLEARLY said they are a survivor. I don't like your attitude. People are people - regardless of social status, and every woman should be a role model to young girls. Be it good or bad ones. By that I mean, if you feel she is such a bad person teach the girls in your life NOT to look up to her. Do you know her personally? Didn't think so. Judgements like that will get you nowhere. Welcome to America where we DO still have freedom of speech.

  50. 50

Re: .Pryncess. – Freedom of speech is NEATO. Loves it. That's why I can say that she's a bobble headed idiot that no person in THE WORLD should listen to or pay attention to. The young girls in my life have been raised to be confident and not follow the insane rambling of mentally challenged whores. My problem is that "she" IS considered a role model. A classless, ignorant and whorish one, but still. She's more "roll" model than a "role" model.
I have no desire to meet her or to to sucked into the vapid expanse of her self absorbed little universe.
You don't like my attitude and judgements? Tough tittie says this kitty. Freedom of speech and all…

  51. 51

Geez, people are so oversensitive today. You can't say anything in public without being raked over the coals. The truly sad thing about this issue is people actually look up to the Kardashian girls. They're famewhores and will endorse ANYTHING and EVERYTHING they can, just for the money they get from the deal. If there's an issue here, it's idolizing people for selling their souls to the highest bidder.

  52. 52

Oh good lord…way to make a whole lotta something out of absolutely nothing. That is just so…gay!!!!!

  53. 53

Re: La Garse – Remeber that many rape victims have post traumatic stress disorder and are lightly triggered by words and images that relate to their violation. I hope you do not believe those people to be 'hyper-sensitive whiners'.
And to everyone talking about freedom of speech: Freedom of speech does not cover backlash from other civilians, just government censorship.
If these people/organisations want to inform Khloe to educate her then good. She's a public figure, that's what public figures deal with.

  54. 54

I can not believe it but I totally take the Kardashian side of this. She should be allowed to describe what her TSA experience was like in her own words without offending all these women's groups! According to dictionary.com rape can mean "a violent seizure" and gives the example "the rape of a countryside".

  55. 55

The only real offensive thing about all of this was the statement that "young girls look up to the Kardashians". We are all going straight to hell in a handbasket if THAT is true!!

  56. 56

LOOK UP TO THE KARDASHIANS? stop it! i have BETTER morals! who would possibly look up to them FOR WHAT? what have they done? And Kim was just on the VIEW talking about not being a hoe…THAT'S NOT WHAT RAY- J SAID,….

  57. 57

As a victim of sexual assault, all i can say is that i don't take offense of the comment made by her at all and i actually understand what she means.
after what happened to me, well, "happened", i have issues, big issues, letting any strange people touch my body. at airports, i've had the experience of being searched and touched under my breast and having hands go down my legs. it's uncomfortable and, specially to people like me, can be traumatic

  58. 58

There is no way the TSA agent touched her crotch; the entire world know the Kardashians all have KOOTIES that don't go away with meds & creams!

  59. 59

OMG Look who's talking!!!! is this the girl who had no objection at all posing naked infront of millions to support PETA??? Sometimes I was surprised by the words that came from her filthy mouth. "F" words is like her breakfast. In one of the episodes of their reality show "Keeping up with the Kadarshian", she called her mother a "w……e" or "pros……te" because she is the manager of her husband (Bruce), and get paid for that. Khloe is the nastiest of those three Kadashian girls. The way she talked to Bruce is unbelievable. She is just lucky to having Odom as her husband.

  60. 60

Main stream media has to demonize her and make it a big deal because they work for U.S. Government, there is no more real Journalism anymore.

  61. 61

I really really doubt she meant rape literally people, move on sheeple.

  62. 62

i think she was just tryin to be funny they should know her by now!

  63. 63

you know what, Im gonna give khloe a pass on this and say, SO WHAT! When I see PETA jump the other two bimbo sisters for strutting their fur 24/7 in NY, then we'll talk.

  64. 64

I swear people overexaggerate EVERYTHING…not everything people say has to be a national scandal. LET THIS SHIT GO! If was an off colored comment but it's not the worst thing people have said. MOVE ON PEOPLE

  65. 65

A lot of people use the term "rape" when they feel they are being violated. If that is how she feels she has a right to describe it that way. Khloe is not alone in feeling that the TSA's new security measures are invasive and inappropriate. I am proud of her for speaking up.

  66. 66

OMGness… You're such a PC-nazi these days Perez. She wasn't trying to offend anyone. It's like whenever someone says the word rape, they're blacklisted.

  67. 67

I agree with all the comments about the ridiculous overreaction to Khloe's statement and I have an INSANE amount of respect for all the sexual assault/rape survivors who have posted comments about strength and overcoming! I am really inspired by your resilience.

  68. 68

Re: Red Panda – That is what therapy is for….to help people who have experienced traumatic situations so they can learn the tools to move on in a positive manner.

The world doesn't stop living just because someone had something happen to them.

[and as my previous post has said, i have experienced an extreme amount of abuse, so i'm not being insensitive..i'm being realistic and not allowing those people to continue to hurt me by crying victim every time someone uses a word associated with sexual assault.]

  69. 69

The people who are taking this matter into serious business are trying to get alotttttt of her money more than they are righting her wrong.

  70. 70

The definition of rape is: an act of plunder, violent seizure, or abuse; despoliation; violation: the rape of the countryside. Khloe was correct to use the word "rape" in the manner that she did. Learn the nuances of the english language! People are so quick to jump on others for every perceived mistake, without verifying the facts.

  71. 71

Re: msloriga – if you read the comments posted by the women in the post you would see why using the word even if it is offhandedly is offensive to rape victims. So it is a big fucking deal to them and a biggie. If you can't empathize with them then you're stupidity is obviously more severe than your post originally indicated.

  72. 72

    Re: missipreece

I think it would be even better if she didn't apologize. It takes more balls not giving in to demands of a few offended people.

  73. 73

Khloe clearly showed she is stupid with her comment.

  74. 74

OK FUCK ALL OF YOU WHO DISAGREE.. i just saw that shit on the news on what they see with the scanners and how feel you and what they do.. fuck that that is like a violation.. that's just too fucking much.. who gives a fuck if she took naked pictures before.. that was on her own terms and getting fondled and shit.. it's more than just a pat down.. and it seems most people don't know the term raped.. it doesn't just mean you get a dick stuck in you at forceful will or something..she used the term correctly.. and you can't expect everyone to walk on eggshells for everyone else in the world..

  75. 75

The fact that these people are taking what a Kardashian says this seriously is just sad on their part.

  76. 76

This is sooo silly. What she said was NOTHING against rape victims…what is going on in the world. All the silly hags complaining need to shut up already….I'm so sick of the dumb stuff.

  77. 77

she was clearly using it as an expression - chill with the oversensitivity because in today's world, youre going t be upset about what so-and-so said 23 hours a day

  78. 78

@ buck….we get it you don't like Obama….so what…A lot of people do he is the president so get over it.

  79. 79

    i thought shes was joking

the problem is not what she said the problem is all the people who want to jump on her fame wagon and get themselves in the news while the R word might be about a serious issue clearly thats not the way she was using the word she was merely saying hey they really get into ur stuff..

these people commenting prob knew they would get front page access by talking about her because she is famous…

    thats how i took it

  80. 80

Don't be bothered with Khloe's words. She can say anything without thinking. So people, don't be surprised!! F…k, D…n, Rape, VAG..A, Sh…t, ……meant nothing when they came out of her mouth because she didn't think about that. If she thought before she talked, she would have picked different word other than "rape".

  81. 81

Khloe is a dumb girl with a big head and small brains.
She opened her mouth and "opps!" offended some people but geez…so what? Move on. If we had to worry about everyone's sensitivities in this world, we should all just shut up and never say a damn word. I feel sorry for public figures/celebrities. Someone is always saying smack about you =)

  82. 82

Re: Whatthe??? – Ummmm, yet YOU took the same amount of time to bitch about people on here bitching?! Ahh, yeah, ok. At least the people on here 'bitching' ON TOPIC! You want to bitch about the things you want to bitch about… go find a fucking thread on those topics, BITCH!

As for Sasquatch Khloe here making any off-handed comments, I mean… well… LOOK AT HER!? She's a SASQUATCH!

  83. 83

Well, if it isn't a forceful penetration of the privacies that I thought we should be able to expect in a "free" country, I don't know what it is… I'm sorry, but how far will it go before the people of this country push back, or do we not have the guts? Our mail can be read, our phone calls are monitored, our votes are ignored, our sexual inclinations are devalued, our poverty stricken are denied, our press are controlled, our finances are micromanaged and we are sold lies on a daily basis about what our government is really doing. Does it matter to anyone that to get on an airplane, you must either have a naked photograph taken or be groped by a stranger, all in the name of preserving our freedom? What F ing Freedom are we talking about?

  84. 84

Uh anybody forcefully pushing my junk around is at the least sexually battering me. Which isn't quite rape - technically.

  85. 85

while khloe could have phrased it differently, i dont think she meant to be hurtful with what she said. im so sick of gloria allred speaking out against all people for doing ANYTHING. can she please just go away?!

  86. 86

OMg what a bunch of dumb old pigeons.. *squak squak squak* she used the word correctly .. she felt really violated.. the term rape is not just forceful intercourse.. they need to stfu and stop making something out of nothing and stop being so politically correct.. everyone is so sensitive is disgusting.. and gloria needs to stfu.. she is the worst.. she defends hoes and whore and blames the married men they sleep with.. even though they were absolutely WILLING! they are ALL fucking stupid

  87. 87

look i have been raped before. Yes its horrible. but she obviously doesnt mean it in that way. Getting all huffy and puffy over something so stupid, is just that…stupid!
Its a waste of energy. If people wanna get like that then you might as well freak out at people who say " stop being retarded " or " your retarded" i guess that gould be offensive to mentally disabled people..
i get how perez site is mainly all about gossip and makin fun of celebs. but to try and take something she said out of context and make it "serious" is dumb,

  88. ka.06 says – reply to this

This has definitely been blown out of proportion. Despite what she said may not have been exactly the smartest, TSA is violating us. It's a complete violation of our fourth amendment right. They do NOT have the right to search and seize our body without our consent. If there is one thing I don't get, it would be how people are completely against the government intruding on an abortion, but they're okay with these new "security" measures with pat downs and scanner. Scanned images of men, women, and children have leaked online. There are health risks included with the scanner (radiation) and pat downs (they do not change their gloves after every single person). America has basically become its own worst enemy. I think the US should take a page from Europe and have trained military in airports near the security check points, so the moment someone tries to bring a suspicious package pass it, they have military to answer to, instead of a rent-a-cop.

  89. 89

I took quite a few minutes before responding to this story. I was raped at the age of 13, and six months later I miscarried. I don't want to be touched by anyone in an airport, it does take me back to being raped. I can see why she said it, I actually agree with her but then again "What do I know….?" People need to see the voluntary giving up of their rights. Last I looked. There is freedom of Speech. And Searching a person without probable cause is unlawful. We are slowly giving up our rights….
