The concert, which was also featured on the MTV documentary My Time Now, was held to launch the Ministry’s Localize It campaign. Although it does not explain the kinda cash they shelled out.
Expenses included local advertising costs of $150,000, culture costs of $26,000, a local fashion show for $60,000, boarding fees at the Hilton Trinidad for $60,343 and local artists fees of $40,000. And booking Nicki came with the whopping price of $382,000, which does not include her entourage and agent fees.
Unfortunately, not as many people came out as expected because the tickets were so expensive. VIP tickets cost between $250 and $450. Kids entry was $100 and $200 for the adults accompanying them. The best seats in the house cost $900.
It would be just a marketing mistake if the government was not accused of denying funding to youth organizations because of the cost of the concert.
Yikes! Hope it was worth it.
