Oh boy! ABC is trying to show NBC what's what!

The network has officially picked up a new reality series, called Secret Millionaire, set to air on the Sunday night time slot normally filled by Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, starting March 6th!

The show, which is based on a UK series, is similar to the CBS reality series Undercover Boss, and will feature successful US business men under cover in some of the country's poverty-stricken areas for a week. On the last day, they will reveal their true identities, and donate large amounts of money to those with whom they spent their time!

Sounds like just a big a tear-jerker as Extreme Makeover: Home Edition! Which means it will be just as big a hit!

Thoughts??

It's not a "new" reality series. One season of this show has already aired here in the States. It was shown on Fox in 2008 - and if I remember correctly, it wasn't that popular (hence, why Fox ended up dropping the show after 1 season). I don't see how this move is showing any other network anything. They've picked up a second-rate program that aired 2 years ago to fill an empty time-slot. I doubt this will help ABC with ratings. I think they'd do much better if they created an orginal series rather than trying to bring a failed one back from the dead. I won't be watching and I doubt many others will either.

this isn't new. a couple yrs ago fox had it on air we used to tune in every week to watch it then it mysteriously dissapeared.

Yeah, flamingo is right… this show already aired in the US.

hey, how about if these goodhearted people just shared the money without trying to claim fame and approval from strangers? There are much better ways to give people hope and such, this just further grows the idea that money is the only sollution to everyones problem or means to reach nirvana.

YES!!!! I adore this show! I've been wondering for a while why American tv execs hadn't picked up on it yet…. glad it's done. It will be amazing.

The U.K. version is fun to watch.

I liked the last version until they did one in San Francisco. They taped a man in Lower Nob Hill and said repeatedly that it was the Tenderloin, one of the worst areas in California outside of Compton in LA.

Oh boy, another SCRIPTED reality show. Just what America needs. Give me the good ol' days anytime. When tv was good viewing and entertaining. TV now is just all bull crap and bad acting and ppl without talent that are trashy and stupid and making way too much money. Maybe that's why we call it the good ol' days cuz they sure were alot better than these crappy ones.

Yup agreed. They featured a guy who owned a chain of fast food joints in Louisiana, some car magazine magnate, and a few others.
