Sex and the City's MPK Returning To TV!

| Filed under: TV NewsSex & The City

And he's doing a total 180 from his Sex days!

Sources are reporting that Michael Patrick King, the mastermind behind the Sex & The City franchise, has a new show that was just picked up by CBS.

The comedy, called Two Broke Girls, was developed by MPK and comedian Whitney Cummings and focuses on girls living in New York - but much differently than Carrie & Co.

The girls, described as two 22-year-olds, don't have the cash for Jimmy Choos or trips to the Met. As the titled suggests, the ladies are flat broke, but make do living in one of the most expensive cities in the world.

Hmm. Wonder what their apartment will be like? We've seen cheap places in the city - they're closets! Should be nice to see how the other half lives!

Oooh! Maybe Michael could get Sarah Jessica Parker to cameo for contrast! That'd be fun!

I was 22 and broke in NYC…my best friend from college and I had to share a bedroom just like in college…and our apartment was a shoebox - THAT'S reality! Hopefully this will be a true depiction.

take it from a native, you are literally not allowed to be broke in NYC. in real life they'd be stripping, prostituting or selling weed. by the way, the Met (i'm assuming you meant the museum) is by donation, meaning you can donate a nickel for your admission. it's a favorite hangout of the financially troubled, along with the natural history museum and the staten island ferry in the summertime. they'd be living in the bronx in an 800 dollar a month shoebox getting robbed by schoolchildren every on the way home from the train station.

Re: butt666 – Take this from a native: Your caricature of the Bronx is both false and offensive. (Let's not forget that prep school girl who helped murder and disembowel that poor homeless fellow in Central Park, dumping his body in a lake and weighing it down with stones. Sure, we have youth crime in the Bronx, but it's less…inventive.)

This show will probably be phony and devoid of ethnic minorities.

ha! butt666 .. i was thinkin' i know how to do broke in NYC and the MET is totally by donation as are the other hangouts you suggested … a lot of fun can still be had . … interesting people crossing paths- sounds like a great show … fun and friends who aren't in privilege would be refreshing in the face of the hit reality tv which is all about privilege and wanting/material-world.
