Rebecca will never have a career in America. While she is talented in her own right there is absolutely nothing that makes her stand out from the plethora of pop and R&B singers in the USA. Leona Lewis is amazing but even she has fizzled out… I honestly think One Direction has the most potential as even mediocre singers who look good to the teen girls (not saying I think they look good) have the best possibility of selling records the UK and the US. Cher is good but let's be honest the girl is not a great singer.

none of them will ever crack america. rebecca was mediocre at best, with poor vocal control and absolutely no charisma whatsoever. failing to keep your legs together as a teenager and having 2 children as a result does not make you a deserving person. matt was vocally the best of the two, but again, boring as fuck. the good ones went in the first few weeks because we're so quick to judge. the best vocalists in the competition were clearly nicolo (1st to go), storm (2nd to go) and paije (went a few weeks later), but they didn't stand a chance because they didn't have cowell's massive pr machine behind them. if it had been based entirely on vocals, nicolo could have won.

I still don't see the big deal about Rebecca… She does have a naturally good tone to her voice (dare I say Aretha like), but that's it. She has absolutely no range or power, she sings with little to no conviction, she has very poor diction and an annoyingly inconsistent vibrato. I don't know what Cheryl was doing as her mentor week after week, but it wasn't getting her singing lessons.

Matt was strong throughout the competition and as Konnie read out on the Xtra Factor, Matt was top of the 'saving' list EVERY SINGLE WEEK. Him first then Mary and towards the end Rebecca.

Allison Crowe's "Sweet Dreams" is an awesome cover of the Eurythmics song. My favorite by far. Bat for Lashes also covers it - but more like the original, less unique. This version by Rebecca Ferguson isn't distinctive enough to stand out from other versions. Of course, it's not about talent or passion, but, it's nice when you can find performers who really deliver, and not just in the manufactured show production.

I'm English and X factor is a UK show so doesn't matter if they have a career in America because that's not the aim of the show. I think you are THE ONLY PERSON who likes Cher. I disagree, Perez. I would not buy rebecca's albums, I would not buy tickets to her shows, I would in no way "invest" in hearing her sing. I would buy Matt's albums, I would buy tickets to his concerts, I would pay to watch him. Period. I live in the US, and I feel EXACTLY the way Great Britain feels about Matt….so even if you are right, that he will not have a career here in the States, the majority who voted disagree. On the Xtra Factor, they revealed that Matt came in first place in the votes almost every single week, except for week 1 when Mary had it. He was always going to win, so I think it's a good indication of the future for him. And while Rebecca has a lovely recording voice that is very relaxing, I don't envision her as having many hits on the radio like I'm sure Matt will. And maybe Cher might have a hit song or two, but not till after they autotune the SHIT out of her voice. And I'm pretty sure you will eat your words when One Direction dominates the teens. And none of them have to come to America. They can be perfectly successful over in the UK, it doesn't matter.

My problem with shows like the Xfactor is A) mostly kids vote and in the real world they have no money and B) People vote for the most "likeable" person or the most "ordinary" person, the nice shy boy or whatever. I think it is shocking that you have neglected who is possibly the best ever reality music winner ever. Matt won for a reason and it has been confirmed that he was basically top of the votes consistantly. He is full of talent and even moreso personality. His performances were amazing but what clinced my support for the final was his awe and performance with Rhianna. Fan fuckingtastic.

Matt doesn't need America to be successful. UK has a lot of people and Europe is a big place. Besides, there is a lot of home grown talent that are amazing and they go to the UK to be discovered because they cannot catch a break over here. Heck, even if they are discovered here there's no guarantee that they'll make it because of mismanagement.

Matt was an amazing contestant and is said to be a true gentleman, so he deserves to be the winner. Who the hell are you to say if someone will have a career here? Last time I checked the closest you'll ever be to being a singer is kissin Lady Gaga's ass, and it's not like being an artist in the US means much of anything anymore (his 1mil Euro contract is already worth more than a $1M contract). Cher is nothing but an ungrateful ass brat. She wouldn't make it here because she's not a good enough singer to sing, nor a good enough rapper to rap. Also, Rebecca does have a great voice, but Matt has something over her–a personality. She seems lovely, but she was scared of asking the public to vote for her and became too overwhelmed to even sing when on stage with Xtina.

You should probably be aware of the fact that the poor guy was very sick for 2 weeks. He had the flu and laryngitis. Last week he actually performed 2 songs with a fever and was clearly in pain. I think he did the best he could under the circumstances. You could tell he was stretching his voice thin this week as well, as he repeatedly went into a coughing fit after each performance and was seen clutching his throat. Not easy to sing when your throat is on fire and you're trying to hold back the coughs. You should take a look at his previous week performances when he wasn't sick, show 5 and show 8 were incredible.
I personally think Matt deserved to win. His performances were a bit shaky the last 2 weeks but considering he was very sick and had a serious throat infection, he did amazing. The reason he still won was because the public got to see what an amazing vocalist he was in the prior 8 weeks. His rendition of "First Time I Ever Saw your Face" and "Nights in White Satin" was some the best performances in X Factor or any music show competition ever. His falsetto is incredible and when he hits that one particular note, it'ss magic. On top of that he proved he can handle different genres and can also work the stage. A big bonus is the fact that he's a well spoken, modest, self-deprecating and over all terrific guy. Oh and he absolutely has the chance to break into the states.

I wasn't overly surprised that Matt won, given he was relatively handsome, and portrayed as this nice guy who had a down to earth job working with his hands. he's a stereotypical womens fantasy man. his singing, while good… it's so run of the mill. it's inoffensive bland softrock, which is popular at the moment - such as the script and so on. unfortunately for him, I don't think there's much longevity in his career, where are steve brookstein? Leon Jackson? even shayne ward EVEN Joe mcelderry really. there's not much that can be done. this time next year when he is inevitably wheeled out at some point during the 2011 shows, we'll all be thinking 'oh yeah! remember him?'. I hope I'm wrong, I wish him luck but he is just part of the machine waiting to be spat out.
Cher Lloyd to crack America?? Fair does if she does, but she certainly didn't deserve to win the X Factor. Matt has something which Cher clearly doesn't which is likeability. Matts voice isn't the best, however he made up for it with his personality and that is why he won.
It says it all in the fact that Cher wasn't even at the final to congratulate whoever won and Cowell even admitted that she wasn't happy that Matt won. She expected to win and her bratty attitude turned alot of people off her. Its all well and good having a good voice (which she kind of did when she actually sang), but with an attitude like that she wont get far.

I think Rebecca should have won, with a voice like that she doesn't need to be prancing around the stage to detract from the fact she can't sing or is miming (are you listening Cheryl dear?), she gives me goosebumps when she sings. She has such a unique voice, better than Leona Lewis in my opinion, and is so striking-looking and a class act in general - she actually does have the X Factor which I do not believe Matt has. I can see him having short-term success and then going the way of the other male solo winners, he is a fairly good singer but is nothing special, his duet with Rhianna was painful at times. Her not winning is no indicator of future success, most voters for the X Factor are silly teenagers, look at how long the awful Cher stayed in for! Mary was robbed of her place in the final by them changing the rules at the last minute - it should have been public vote for the semis as well as it has been in previous years. The only reason for the change was they KNEW Cher would get the lowest public vote and would have gone out then before she got to sing with WillIAm who is no judge of talent given his collaborations with Cheryl I-Can't-Sing-Live Cole, then again he is obviously after getting into her knickers. This year's show was outstanding for its dearth of talent, even One Direction aren't that good, I am so glad Simon and Cheryl will be doing the US X-Factor next year instead of ours - you are welcome to them ;o)

Who is the all encompassing "we"? I certainly didn't think Rebecca deserved to win and obviously, neither did millions of others. Matt had tonsillitis for almost three weeks, yet still came out and delivered. Although Rebecca's rendition of Sweet Dreams was very good, she was off key a couple of times and her performance with Xtina didn't even compare to Matt's with Rhianna. Matt was consistent week after week and Dannii gave him tough girl songs almost every week. Get a grip; get an ear. Matt deserved to win. Period.
