The only way to decipher this he said-she said is to wait and see what happens. You don't just fire a Thora Birch if she has been great thusfar and right BEFORE a production. Either Pop is lying and really wigged out/gave direction no other choice, or you'll see in coming weeks that she gets replaced by another big name (was someone in the wings….) or a second choice that tips the hat to this being a concocted or exaggerated story with ulterior motives for the firing. There IS more to it though.

I remember reading Thora's dad has done weird stuff on sets in the past and threatened film crews to get his way. Both of Thora's parents are ex-porn stars and it sounds like her dad is way too controlling of her career. I feel bad for her. She was great in Ghost World and American Beauty but I don't think too many people in show business want to deal with oddball daddy.

There's something more to this. Thora did a topless scene in American Beauty and her father is a former porn actor. Why would a back rub bother him?

Thora is being replaced with the FABULOUS Miss Emily Bridges, daughter of Beau Bridges. Previews begin TONIGHT!! And from what I hear, Thora has been extremely unprofessional since the rehearsals started in November…but I think that her behavior during rehearsals would have been enough to get her fired. It feels like the thing with her dad is a weird kind of cover-up. I don't know what it's covering up though…

that's really weird. i've never done professional theatre before, but i've never been in a production where the actors can't talk to the director themselves and need a middle man to do it for them. either the director is iffy or the dad is…
