discovery channel orders new reality tv shows

The Kardashians are Koming to Discovery!

Okay, that's not ACTUALLY happening, but the network does have a bunch of reality shows in the works for next year.

Discovery has greenlit Desert Car Kings, a show that revolves around an Arizona family who spends their time restoring classic vehicles.

They've also ordered National Treasure Nation, which focuses on Nicolas Cage an archaeologist and anthropologist who search for artifacts all over the country.

Discovery will also be renewing 15 shows, and debuting 25 new series.

Here's what Discovery's president and general manager Clark Bunting had to say about the network's plans for the upcoming year:

"We're going from strength to strength — there's not only a lot of solid returning series, there's also a much bigger and broader editorial swing. We're getting broader and looking into spaces we haven't gone before."

Inneresting stuff, Discovery. We're not sure if these new reality shows are completely up our alley, but we def appreciate what you're doing here.

We'll look forward to seeing where you go with your network, bbs!

Will U watch these new Discovery reality shows in 2011?

its one of the few networks i watch and its betraying me. Granted i appreciate that they are not reality shows with celebrities or anyone i have heard of, but this was supposed to be a network where i learned things. I happen to enjoy learning more about things, not watching people go about their lives.

I get that reality shows are guaranteed to make money, but couldn't they at least make them educational? I suppose that would exclude the type of viewers that would reality shows.

Re: @v@ – Eek, old buddy, you used the h-word. Now don't tell me you're not sneaking in a little Dog the Bounty Hunter. But anyway, Merry Christmas & Happy New Year.

Re: Phibes – Good guess, lol. Watched all of the Dawg until all of the extradition drama, but haven't since as they gave him a new time slot where I live. I don't even know when he's on, but the endorphil thrill that was there is gone. Lol.
