Firestarter Reboot In The Works!

firestarter remake in the works

Amidst so many unnecessary reboots/remakes like Yellow Submarine, here's one we're excited about!

The De Laurentiis Company has started work on a Firestarter reboot, which they're looking to turn into a new franchise. So far, Vacancy screenwriter Mark L. Smith is attached to the project.

The film will be loosely based on the Stephen King novel, which the original film was based on, but they're looking to give the main character "a little more edge."

Here's what Martha De Laurentiis had to say about the new Firestarter:

"We see this as a unique, character-driven thriller with a supernatural edge, based on a timeless concept and enhanced by recent visual effects advances."

We wonder if they'll bring Drew Barrymore on for a cameo.

Are U excited for another Firestarter film? Do U think it's a good idea?

Firestarter is one of my ALL TIME favorite movies! Even for it to have been made over 20 years ago, it still stands up as good entertainment when i watch it now so i'm very excited to see what they will do with it with today's technology.

Again? It was remade already in 2002.

Huh. Martha waited a full month after Dino's death to move forward with this. Good for her for showing the most minute modicum of restraint.

Yes.. and I suggest Elle Fanning for the lead, with Drew as her mom…

The greedy fuckers in Hollywood don't cherish anything classic. I will NOT support this nor go see it. Is there no creativity left out there in Cali? Or has the sunshine fried all of their brains? *sigh* something original and interesting would be nice, for a change.
