Weinstein Company And Miramax Sign Deal For Sacrilegious Sequels

| Filed under: Film FlickersBusiness Blitz

sequels to classic miramax and weinstein movies are a bad idea

Do you REALLY feel the need to ruin the integrity of these classic/hit films, Miramax and Weinsteins? You're both better than this or so we thought.

The Weinstein Company and Miramax have announced a major partnership to create sequels for classic/hit films that the Weinsteins made with Miramax before they parted ways.

Films that are being prepped for unnecessary sequels include Shakespeare In Love, Bad Santa, Swingers, Rounders, and Bridget Jones's Diary again.

Here's what the Weinsteins said about this deal in a statement:

"We are very close to these films and the new management of Miramax also feels that we are in the best position to create sequels that are at once worthy and compelling in their own right."

If you want to mess with Bad Santa or Rounders…fine…but Shakespeare in Love and Swingers are classics!

…And you should know better than to make ANOTHER sequel to Bridget Jones's Diary. We seriously don't need it.

Talent and the ability to generate new ideas has obviously left Hollywood. It's sad.

    agreed its all bs

There isn't a third Bridget Jones book, it would be stupid to make another sequel. Sheesh!!!!

If people go to, rent and buy the DVDs for these movies and they end up making money for them then they obviously would have made the right decision. If on the other hand people refuse to purchase trash (which isn't likely since most people here love Twilight, Justin Beiber and GaGa) then they'll fail and you'll see less new sequels like this in the future.

There is material for Bridget Jones beyond the books. There was a newspaper column that ran after the 2 books that continued the story. They could be getting the third movie from that.
