Obamas NOT Invited To Royal Wedding

obamas not invited to royal wedding

Maybe their invitations got lost in the mail?

Unless the post office is SERIOUSLY off of their game, it looks like President Barack Obama and Michelle won't be attending the royal wedding.

According to sources, Prince William and Kate want their marriage to take place in front of "ordinary citizens."

Here's what a St. James Palace spokesman had to say about it:

"The wedding will not be a formal state occasion since Prince William is neither the sovereign nor the heir to the throne."

And here's what a senior courtier had to say about the President's exclusion from the wedding:

"It is certainly not the case that all foreign heads of state will be excluded. The guest list is still being drawn up and could change, but as things stand it's right (to say the Obamas will not be invited)."

If none of the heads of state were invited, we'd understand this…but it'd be a bit awkward if others are invited, and not the Obamas.

Do U think Barack and Michelle should be invited to the royal wedding?

There is no reason for them to be there!

  2. 2

I don't think anyone should be invited that isn't close friends or family of the bride and groom. It's a wedding, not a popularity contest.

  3. 3

bbqlewis62 already said it - why the fck would he want the Obamas there? Longtime friends? Nope. Relatives? Nope. Random people that just happen to be in charge of a completely different country than they are living in? Yup.

There is absolutely no need for them to be invited.

  4. 4

no friggin reason for them to be there!

if anyone deserves that, it would be Canadian leaders, you know… since Canada still considers the Queen the head of government.

  5. 5

LOL Best Caption in a long long time! "We are Busy That Day Anyway"

  6. 6

Maybe "President" Obama should concentrate more on running the country and less on being a celebrity. We have 2 wars going on and this idiot is on Mythbusters….this guy has no interest in being president…and he shouldn't be in that office.

  7. 7

With the way Scotland Yard's security handled Charles & Camilla's little fiasco I wouldn't want the Obama's there. I would Imagine the Secret Service would still be in charge, but it would still be a mess.

  8. 8

The Brits and all of Europe loved this guy.
Looks like Bam Bam's political capital is in the toilet.
    -
Perhaps the sobering reality of a weak USA isn't as great as they thought it would be, 'cuz the EU now has to worry and spend money they don't have on defense spending?

  9. 9

I have a feeling Barry didn't make a very good impression at all when he gave the Queen an ipod and dragged his wife along in a sleeveless dress. Just sayin'.

  10. 10

    It's because they're black, isn't it.

  11. dodo says – reply to this

    11

No, not unless they also invite Fidel. After all Fidel did not order spying on British diplomats at the UN, but Barak did…I believe that an Obama presence in any foreign social circle will be awkward for a long time to come.

  12. 12

I don't think the Obamas should be invited. Good on Wills and Kate for not inviting them. Shock! Horror! The Americans are not the most important people in someone else's life. Get over yourselves.

  13. 13

perez. i created an account here just for this. i'm absolutely SICK to death of you thinking the royal wedding has everything to do with the united states. national holiday, obamas in attendance. the usa is NOT a commonwealth nation, and has absolutely NOTHING to do with the united kingdom. NOTHING. just because YOU are fascinated with the royal family, and because the usa believes to be the centre of the universe, doesn't mean DICK ALL. it pisses me off to no end that you seem to think this wedding is the biggest thing to happen in the usa, when people in canada and australia - COMMONWEALTH NATIONS - aren't even spouting off the ridiculous ideas you are. WE know it's not going to be a national holiday here, even though, since the queen's birthday is, that could be too. but do we expect it? no. just stfu about the wedding and the poor, uninvited obamas and the fact that IT'S NOT ABOUT YOU AND YOUR STUPID, SELFISH COUNTRY!!!

  14. 14

The US is not a part of the Commonweath of Nations. Why should they be there?

The leaders of Canada, Jamaica, Australia, the Bahamas, Barbados, New Zealand, etc? Absolutely. But the Obamas really have no reason to be there.

  15. 15

I think my dog is more worthy of attending the royal wedding than these two…

  16. 16

How is this a snub? why would they be invited?

  17. 17

Why would they be there ?? they probably dont even give a shit like most Americans don't about this royal wedding.

  18. 18

like he said, he isn't the sovereign or the heir to the throne, and it's their wedding day, who gives a shit who they invite?

  19. 19

Obamas were very rude to the Queen and British officials when they came too visit. Rude arrogant people who can't follow civilised protocols. You wouldn't want Me-chelle to come up there dressed like Grandma's couch would you?

  20. 20

If the Clinton's didn't invite them to Chelsea's wedding, why would the Royal family invite them?

  21. 21

It's very rude to not invite the Obama's. Heads fo state have always historically been invited to Royal Weddings. It's almost an anti-American statement to not invite the Obamas.
Maybe American media should STOP covering the royal wedding.
At this point I'm sure the Obamas don't want to go. Sending them an invite and giving them the chance to decline would be the right thing to do.

  22. 22

They were invited but Michelle didn't like the black skirt with a white apron they wanted her to wear.

  23. 23

Obama's made fools of themselves last visit. Of course they are OFF the VIP list.

  24. 24

Its not really a official thing. If they were being crowned King its one thing. But its just a wedding, which means its their choice on who goes.

  25. 25

    Re: thewannalebrity
    Are you feeling better now?
Take a deep breath, sip your pills and relax.

  26. 26

Re: thewannalebrity – Well, we know you are not comatose. I guess it's good to be fired up about something than nothing at all.

  27. 27

Why would they be invited? Black shovel the Royal's horse shit in the stables. It's funny how these celebrities have 99.99% of the guests at their events and they don't even know them…

  28. 28

Re: Spare_Me – I COMPLETELY AGREE!! They definately should be invited to go

  29. 29

Re: Reenuss – what the hell does that have to do with anything? your post was completely irrelevant, i can see youre just looking for an excuse to bash the president, next time dont make yourself look like a total idiot.

  30. 30

I don't even know why Kate is marrying William… The Old-Hag ain't dying and Charles will live another 30 years. Kate will be waiting her entire life to be Queen, like Diana did, and end up wrapped around a road column never making Queen…..Just watch1

  31. 31

Umm, let's see…Obama sent back the bust of Winston Churchill. His father was Kenyan and the Brits know what the Mau Mau did to their fellow country men that lived in Kenya. Besides, who would want the worst American president in history at their wedding? The Queen probably didn't appreciate an iPod full of self indulgent boring speeches from him either.

  32. 32

    No.

  33. 33

um prince william is the heir to the throne. how stupid is this palace spokesman?? it goes charles, william then william's first born, so yeah william is the heir to the throne

  34. 34

    Bullshit, they will be there.

  35. 35

and HOW DOES EVERYONE KNOW THIS???? First of all, William is 2nd in line for the throne, HE and HIS FIANCE does not need to invite heads of states, and AFTER the Obamas gave the Queen an IPOD and Brown DVDs of westerns that were unplayable in England, you know they give crap, cheap gifts. Besides, Mario will not admit it, but Obama has just 'unfriended' so many of our former allies in so short of time, he is like the guy you really don't want to invite unless your mother makes you. YES, MARIO, other heads of states might be invited, but William MIGHT ACTUALLY KNOW THEM!!!! He has never been to the Whitehouse with Obama. Queen's family invited to the Clinton wedding? NO. Charles wedding to Camila was small. So Mario, butt out.

  36. 36

Re: roseblanche – I was confuse about the heir to the throne thing as well. I think what they meant is that Charles IS heir to the throne at this point, NOT William.

  37. 37

Michelle should send William and Kate each their own ipod's with some black music. like she did when she met the Queen.

    Epic failure Michelle.

  38. 38

Besides, the two of them need a crash course on different countries' customs, and how not to diss them. You know, not to grab the hand of religious muslim men, not to give the queen and Ipod, Maybe the prime minister really does not want a collection of our westerns -gee, maybe they have tv over in england too? and besides, you have to make sure THAT THEY PLAY OVER THERE FIRST!!!! goofs goofs goofs If only there was a way to make sure this didn't happen……hmmm……YOU HIRE SOMEONE TO HANDLE AND RESEARCH THIS!!!!! But NO!!!! the news makes it look like the other countries/people are the bad ones. (just like the Salonis or whatever their names were-if there was someone, like a social secretary checking names instead of SMOOOZING WITH THE GUESTS, it wouldn't happen. but it did and instead of saying the Whitehouse made a mistake, it was all the whatever their names were. Never mind, THERE WAS SOMEONE ELSE THAT SNUCK IN TOO- BUT did anyone else hear much about them? NO)

  39. 39

IMO Honestly I can't wait for this wedding fiasco to be over. I am honestly sick of hearing about it. Prince William is getting married…woohoo…good for them. It must be nice to have the ability to spend millions on a wedding when there are so many economic troubles in the world. Rub that unecessary extravagence in everyone's faces.

  40. 40

I'm pretty sure our founding fathers didn't think about attending British royal events when those bastards were getting killed during the Revolution. I say fuck the royal family.

  41. 41

unless barack and william are best friends and go way back, i see no reason for the obamas to be there. good for kate and william for having a somewhat normal wedding…wish them the best!

  42. 42

Why would the Obamas be invited? So they could talk about how inferior all the white people around them are in comparison to themselves?

  43. 43

Obama should have had the mint make a beautiful gold Anglican cross for the wall or somekind of special, expensive decorative thing. Anything but an ipod. They've got to have access to some of the best etiquette people in the world who could come up with some very nice appropriate gift. WTF. I was so painfully embarrassed for him it still hurts to even think about it.

  44. 44

Nope and The President shouldn't care to go anyway. The so call "Royal Family" are nothing but a drain on there economy.

  45. 45

i read that Nicolas Sarkozy and Carla Bruni are invited. the US and France are both allies of England so why would they invite the Sarkozy's but not the Obamas? doesn't make sense to me. seems like a bit of a snub.

  46. 46

That's what he gets for pissing off the English….Guess they showed him….

  47. 47

its already been said that they dont want it to become an even huger terrorist target with a load of important people all together in one building

  48. 48

Listen I understand why they weren't invited, you invite them and then you have to hide the silverware, crystal, so on. Big hassle!!!

  49. 49

They don't need to go anyway.. it's just a wedding.. yeah they are royal but that's in the UK.. He is the President of the United States.. there is no reason : P

  50. 50

"Nope and The President shouldn't care to go anyway. The so call "Royal Family" are nothing but a drain on their (FIFY) re economy."
    -
    -
So, you're worried about draining the economy and you're also a Bam Bam supporter? hahahaha

  51. 51

To Pam's Leaking Breasts… Kate will only be the Queen Consort unlike the current Queen who is the Queen Regent married to Prince Phillip who is not the King. Kate will never have the ability to be the reigning monarch in England

  52. 52

Was it because Obama gave the queen an ipod with all of his speeches as a gift or the fact that he returned the statue of winston churchill back to england?

  53. 53

The heads of state that may be invited are probably part of the Commonwealth. The U.S. is not, so no need to invite them.

  54. 54

Re: astarstarRe: roseblanche – Actually Charles is the heir apparent and William in in line for the throne.

  55. 55

Im sort of ocnfused as to why they WOULD be invited? Considering the Obama's seemed to show absolutly no regaurd for the english customs and had the nerve to SEND BACK a statue of Winston Churchill, i think they may have burned some bridges. As well as the fact that Obama gave the queen an iPod with his speeches on it. Like why? The white house has to have the ability to hire the most amazing etiquitte (sp?) coaches and should have known at least how to be resepectful in another country. The Obama's just make fools out of themselves AND the United States, more than, dare i say it, ANY other president in US History.

I myself am American born and raised, and i am embarrassed by our president. If I were the Queen, or anybody who had say in whow as invited to the Royal Wedding, i would just as much expect them to show up in shorts and tank tops and give lingerine as a gift, based off of how disrespectful they were on their last visit. Because no matter what, even if you dont agree with a culture when you are visiting a country you should always attempt to be as respectful to their customs and what is and is not appropriate as possible.

  56. 56

This is too funny. Weren't we supposed to be gaining stature with foreign powers?
    -
Obviously the Royal Family has determined that the last thing they need in Britain are two more Muslims!
    -
Even if the bust incident, the Ipod incident, and the cheap gifts to Gordon Brown's kids incident never happened, and Obama didn't seethe with anti-colonial resentment towards the Brits, the royal couple would not want to put up with the American President and his wife.
    -
Scores of limos, hordes of secret service agents, special poison-testers, clothing racks of creepy colors that could fill the state of Rhode Island, court jesters, and 57 teleprompters (one for each American state) would be too much drama for British royalty.

  57. 57

Arrogance runs rampant! I think that America is a beautiful Country filled with amazing smart people, so it baffles me to think that there is even discussion about the invite fiasco. After what the Obama’s did, there is no reason for the name to even be brought up let alone discussed. If we’re talking inviting politicians, Stephen Harper, Julia Gillard etc should be the first on the list, not political adversaries. To the people that think the Obama’s should be invited, I hope you’re are humbled by these comments, and start to realize that perhaps your “leader” is not the most gracious, and why they’re being left out.

  58. 58

Why do they need to be invited? Its a wedding.

  59. 59

The US isn't a Commonwealth nation, why the fuck should they be invited?

"The US isn't a Commonwealth nation, why the fuck should they be invited?"
    -
    -
If George and Laura Bush were disinvited, you'd be all wee weed up, that our President was a boob.
    -
Heads of state have been invited to royal weddings for eons.
Normal royal protocol that transends just the Commonwealth countries. (Besides, more wedding presents.)
I guess peasants like you and ochs2013 don't know this.

  61. 61

there's about 195 countries in the world. Thats 195 heads of state. Plus their spouses and security. If I were gettin married, I wouldn't want that many strangers to take up seats in the church just to please them - also, it's not like the British royals and the Obamas are close friends or even very well aqquianted.. other people, like the kings and queens of Scandinavia and Holland would be more likely to be invited because they're family and have more in common, so when you look at it from that point of view, inviting the Obamas would be very strange :)

  62. 62

In 1776 America said they wanted nothing to do with England. Well why would you expect to be invited to a wedding in a country you wanted independence from. hahaha Not a Commonwealth, they have no business there.

  63. 63

Re: thewannalebrity – Haha thank you! I'm from Canada and I don't think that my Prime Minister would be invited. I would be surprised actually. Canada is definitely happy about the marriage though :)

  64. 64

Why should they invite the Obama's?? When Obama moved into the Oval Office his first action was to toss out Churchill's bust. Obama is only concerned about bowing to Muslim leaders and further the Nation of Islam!

  65. 65

Re: thewannalebrity – you really shouldn't post after smoking crystal meth. i'm not sure what you mean by "dick all", but yes it does mean "dick all". This wedding is the tits because royal shit is cool. the USA is also the tits and our famous people rule. The only logical or somewhat acceptable explanation for choosing not to invite the Obama's is because they are way more famous than Kate Middleton and would totally steal the spotlight. and that's not fair to do to a princess bride.

  66. 66

They are not part of the commowealth… so why should they be invited?

  67. 67

Everyone please stop writing the pluralized "Obamas" as "Obama's". There is no apostrophe when you pluralize a name. To write "Obama" with an apostrophe after it means that something belongs to a person with the singular name "Obama." An example of this is "Barack's iPod." Furthermore, if you want to show the possessive of "Obamas," it would be Obamas'. Does everyone have that straight now?

  68. 68

this sure doesn't make me sad

  69. 69

Re: roseblanche – Are you stupid? Right now prince Charles is the heir of the throne, William is second heir and Harry is third heir. Why should the american president be in this wedding when he doesn't have any personal or royal relationship to the bride and groom? Americans are so self absorbed. It's pathetic how Perez and other american gossip-sites make a big deal about this wedding, when it's not even mentioned in european newspapers. It won't be a bit deal until the month or so before.

  70. 70

Re: WatchuKnow – We got it. Thanks for the lesson

  71. 71

US isn't a part of the common wealth nation, why should they attend?
Besides it should be more of a family and close friends event. Not some giant poplarity contest on who's wedding has more important people in it.

Normal royal protocol that transends just the Commonwealth countries. (Besides, more wedding presents. hehe)
    -
I guess peasants like you and ochs2013 don't know this coming from a trailer park.

  73. 73

Why is it weird that they're not invited? It's a wedding.

  74. 74

But now the 1st Lady can't charge the US for a trip for 70 of her closest friends! Poor girl.

  75. 75

Interestingly, Ronald Reagan and Nancy were invited to the wedding of Charles and Diana. President Reagan couldn’t make it — as he was recovering from being shot. Nancy went, however.

The American comments admit there is no reason for Obama to attend, perez is stupid to think they should. But to scream that we are a stupid country? Is that what you're about? You think your country PAID for us to save your asses? Our men died for your country. If you represent your country, what a what it was and what a waste of space you are.

    Re: WatcherOne – So True!!

  81. 81

Why would they be invited? It's not like America is a British settlement.

  82. 82

    Re: Spare_Me
America is NOT a Commonwealth nation!!!!
NO REASON for them to attend as they have NOTHING to do with Britian other then conning them to go into a fruitless war effort!!
Some ppl amaze me to think that just because they are American that they should be invited.
Hate to burst your arrogant bubble but its Traditionally ONLY heads of state of the countries that are part of that nation that are invited not every tom, dick and harry!

    Geez get your info right!

  83. 83

As Prince Phillip makes clear every chance he gets, the Monarchy do not like blacks, of any status.

    Truth.

  84. 84

I think they will be on vacation when the wedding takes place!!

  85. 85

If it is ONLY family and friends are invited to the wedding no they should not be invited.
If other Heads of State from foreign countries are invited and the U.S.A. and The President are not invited it is rude and a snub against this country who is one of their greatest allies.

  86. 86

My vote is for the Obama's to be invited, if other heads of state are. Otherwise, then if none, then they should not be invited either. Michelle might get a chance to hug the Queen again.

  87. 87

    Re: thewannalebrity
    I COULD NOT AGREE MORE.
I'm from NZ, and as we expect Williams bald head to be gracing our coins in 30 years or so, there is every reason why our Prime Minister should be invited. There is absolutely NO reason the Obamas should be in attendance. Besides, who wants their entire wedding overshadowed by an arrogant American? The US is a country specifically founded on it's so-called ”freedom” and congratulations, you have it. You do not get to be a part of the Commonwealth, and quite frankly, none of us fucking want you in it.

Perez, shut the fuck up. You're not going to get a public holiday, William's wedding has absolutely no effect on you or your country in any way whatsoever. Obama should be more concerned with the mess he's making overseas, let alone a royal wedding. Get on with your stupid life and shut the hell up.

  88. 88

    Re: roseblanche
How stupid are you? Charles is the heir, hence why he is the Prince of Wales. William is second in line (NOT the heir, you got that?) followed by HARRY. Last I checked, William does not have a first born.
Unbelievable that you would think the Palace spokesman should be corrected.

  89. 89

Re: thewannalebrity – HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO TELL IGNORANT AMERICANS THAT THIS IS AN INTERNATIONAL WEBSITE. Jesus Christ and to think 'stupid' and 'arrogant' is only supposed to be a stereotype. It's not ALL about America. The British people on this website want to here about their own celebrities every one is a while. I'm sure it's not a MASSIVE catastrophe for you to have to scroll past it.

  90. 90

Re: thewannalebrity – Sorry sorry sorry! I replied to the wrong comment! Not you! Forget that rant, I can't seem to delete it!

  91. 91

Re: Reenuss – Oh shut up already….

  92. 92

Re: sarahdaisy – Americans don't think that at all. In fact, the majority of us don't care about the fucking royal wedding and quite frankly I am sick of this thing making headlines in America.
The majority of us look at this topic and say "WHO THE FUCK CARES?!" not "Oh, I wonder if the Obamas will be invited! Because they're totally worthy and the US is the best country in the world!" no and no.
We, including you Perez, should be focused on our shitty president, shitty economy, shitty idea for a healthcare system, and fixing Iraq like we promised.

  93. 93

Re: LiseH92 – If we were self-absorbed, honey, the last thing on all of our media circuits would be a FOREIGN royal wedding! Idiot.

  94. 94

Re: lizard11 – Nope, not rude at all, happens all the time. When Willem-Alexander, Prince of Orange (Netherlands) married Maxima Zorreguieta in 2002, Bush wasn't invited. He wasn't invited to Felipe, Prince of Asturias (Spain) and Letizia Ortiz Rocasolano marriage either and when Victoria, Crown Princess of Sweden, married Daniel Westling earlier this year, Obama wasn't on the guestlist. It's a monarchy thing…

  95. 95

Who the hell cares! America doesn't need to participate in any royal wedding.

  96. 96

Wow people, so violent over something so small… who cares??? They have no business there, they could not conform to the customs before I am sure they wouldnt this time and they would further embarass us with one of the few allies we have left after obamas rein of stupidity…. just sit back and watch the show on TV and be content… none of us were ever going to be invited anyway HAHAHAHA

  97. 97

Wow, Obama should be thankful, he will save precious time flying around and haveing to wear weird royallike clothes. Seriously, I am glad he's not invited. Even if I was invited, I wouldn't go, I have more than one reason.

  98. 98

Re: kiwideutsch – Honestly there is no reason to act as if all Americans are like this, I admit most are… sadly however, there are those of us who would as soon see him impeached because he wasnt even born here than see him making more of a fool of him self and America being at the Prince's wedding. I just think it is sad that you or anyone has to get so violent sounding about somethnig so little… really in the grand scheme of things most conservative Americans understand where the liberal's president has gotten us in the eyes of Europe… we know it isnt good.

  99. 99

I say KUDOS to the royals :)
