Is The End Of 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' Finally Here?

| Filed under: Gay Gay GayLegal MattersPolitikLGBT

It's about time!

Majority leader Harry Reid has set up a vote for Saturday in the Senate to proceed to debate on a bill that would end the Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy!

The repeal will require 60 votes to pass, and Senator Joe Lieberman of Connecticut has claimed that he is "confident that we have more than 60 votes to end this law that discriminates against military service members based solely on their sexual orientation."

We truly hope so! Enough is enough!

Let's make this happen, for once and for all!

It should stay in place. I don't want a gay guy coming up to me and telling me he is gay.

    Good news!

Hey icefire227 why don't you let NookiesWA take a shit in your mouth?

  6. 6

wow! there shouldn't let gays go in the army! it makes the army look week. pretty sad, they should just keep it to themselfs

  7. 7

FINALLY! This is America after all right??? How dare we even have a law like this in place to begin with!

  8. 8

As a current active duty gay man. I can tell you that this law needs to be repealed now! For a system that requires us to live our daily lives with integrity, but for us to also lie to them on a daily basis. It is all hypocrisy. Please call your senators now and help get this law repealed now! Saturday will be our….MY last chance for years to come.

How about instead of worrying about ones sexual orientation, we worry about the lives being lost?? This is disrespectful that people are more worried about allowing homosexuals into the military and paying more attention to this bullshit instead of supporting your troops and the lives lost. The military is not for the weak and if you can’t handle keeping your mouth closed about who you’re fucking then it’s not the place for you. Currently active duty, I’m sick of hearing about this shit. Guess I’m more worried about my friends deployed to Afghanistan taking mortars every day.

Why the Fuck do want to join a military that doesn't want you?

Re: Serena Loves Mario – You’re going to correct someone’s mistakes but not correct them all? Jokes on you smart ass.

  13. 13

Yes let's end don't ask don't tell so we can have more gays in the military who release classified documents when they feel bitchy.

  14. 14

Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against gays or any other person for that matter. But just wait, after this is repealed, we are going to start to hear stories of gays being beat up and made fun of in the military…you get a bunch of He Men marines together, and some guy showering with them says he's gay, there will be trouble.

  15. 15

    Please pass this repeal!

Re: sensfan999 – yeah, because in every military where gays are allowed to serve openly, they have such a horrible problem. its been shown that tolerance has improved.

I appreciate all people who serve their country. I do wonder, however, if becoming HIV positive will be considered a disability if it was contracted while in service? My empathy for the cause ends when I feel your hand picking my pocket.

I am a Republican (boo all you want) and it absolutely appalls me that this policy is even in place AND how republicans can even justify it's existence. The BASIC principle of Republican ideology is LIMITED GOVERNMENT INTERFERENCE INTO PEOPLE'S LIVES. HOW than can ANYONE justify a policy that not only discriminates but humiliates and degrades people for their own personal beliefs and choices? If you feel uncomfotable not disclosing your orientation for whatever reason you want, that's YOUR business. As far as I'm concerned, if you have the balls to serve this country, you can marry a puppy and paint yourself red, because I and everyone else owe my life to those brave people. Maybe instead of worrying about this CLEAR violation of basic human rights to the people that deserve those rights the most, the Military should be more concerned with the fact that Sexual Assualts were up 64% since last year according to the DOD (via MSNBC today) and, the most horrible part, that "many more victims probably didn't come forward" because they were too SCARED to and the system in place to deal with this issue is so poor that these victims don't bother reporting them because it will do either more harm than good or absolutely nothing. Our government is setting a horrible example to this entire country by flat out discriminating and denying people of their basic rights as human beings and turning a blind eye to victims.

Re: mc8877jc – That would be "joke's", not "jokes".

why do gay people feel they have to tell us they are gay. Who cares? Don't ask don't tell was stupid in the first place. if someone wants to serve god bless them, straight or gay.
However, when are you gay people going to stop allowing the democrats to politicize you. They are using you and you allow it. If they really cared, why is it you people can't get married. The dems have been in charge for the past 2 years and they have done nothing for you. Gays make up less than 10% of the population. Who would even notice if they got married. I could care less. Let them get married it is not hurting anyone.
The dems will never let the gays to get married because what else will they be able to campaign on. I say stop the ban on gay marriage and don't let democrats get married. That way they won't breed anymore democrates
