Britney Spears Was The Inspiration For Gwyneth's Character In Country Strong

| Filed under: Britney SpearsFilm FlickersMichael JacksonGwyneth Paltrow

According to the writer and director of Country Strong, Shana Feste, Britney Spears was her inspiration when writing for the character, played by Gwyneth Paltrow.

In the movie, Gwyneth plays a country singer who's a strugglng addict. Feste said when writing for the character, she used Britney's public meltdown as inspiration to show how the media lifts bright, young, talented stars only to bring them down and destroy them.

Feste continued:

"That's where this movie came from. I mean, I was seeing what was happening in the media to Britney Spears. I finished the script when Michael Jackson passed away. I think it's tragic how we treat people who give us so much, and we love to see them knocked down to build them back up again, to knock them down again. It's a weird fascination."

We wonder if Gwyneth used the same inspiration when preparing for the role.

Do U see any comparison between the two?

I agree with that quote. It's sick how everyone plays with these ppl emotions such as Britney, Michael, Miley, Lindsay, Amy and MANY others. Even after u die ppl ridicule you. Sick jealous non artistic can't do anything in life fuckers!

Waaaaaaah, I have no patience of "bright young stars" who blame their problems on "the media." Britney Spears obviously had problems that had zilch to do with "the media" and more to do with her own personal life issues — just as Lindsey Lohan did. If they made this movie all about "the media," there's no story — only dishonesty — because "the media" did very little but idolize these stars.

    Re: MyNameIsDita
I would have never thought Britney was the inspiration (from the previews, I was thinking Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood), but after reading her quote, I sort of get it.

i dont get it theres no comparison at all. Brit is pop and the movies country. Brit was mentally unstable not an addict

    • United states has become so sexist, United States violates the rights of women around the world?
I am Latina, I do not speak English
    forgiving. Use translator.

Formerly the village women's liberation. Before respected intelligent women today make fun of them.

The country of freedom has become the country most sexist of all. Now they are even more sexist than here in Latin America.
Everyone thought that American men were good and faithful BUT ALL WE ARE ADVISED THAT SINCE THE WORST. Example: Before Brad Pitt was a role model for me, but since he deceived his ex-wife Jennifer Aniston fell off my pedestal and all blond hypocrites. They are the most sexist, but the propaganda that they are the best.

    What do you appreciate America?

Feminine beauty and feelings more or less

    Just as Angelina Jolie.

But that too was done in the Middle Ages, only appreciated women for their beauty and nothing else. What's twilight?

America is the cradle of the most sexist saga of the world. A woman who is beautiful as Bella Swan, has good feelings and stupid. What is appreciated in the Middle Ages.
Please, that fell to the middle ages.
Men of the Middle Ages only admired pretty women of good feelings and having no brain.
And you Americans returned to the Middle Ages. Intelligent and decent women should have at least the same respect as the most beautiful.

Re: BeeLahhve – As she says . . . Stop using "inneresting" . . . Most of the kids who read this site can't spell, anyway. And I know. I teach!

You'd think with a spending budget of $750,000 a month she'd already have everything a home (s) and not need to shop; plus, why doesn't she have a Starbucks at home…..really!

I don't think this is really that true. The above people mentioned were from pretty troubled backgrounds or were thrusted into the industry at a young age. We couldn't help the Lohan family from having domestic violence, same goes for Michael Jackson, nor could we stop Britney's parents from encouraging her into the industry. Yeah we watched and ridiculed, but that is what should be expected when entering hollywood and I think most celebs know what they are getting into when they want to be "famous" and "successful" it's not all rainbows and butterflies, so perhaps people with underlying issues should deal with those before being put on a world stage or deal with them appropriately. Because us as people only do so much, normally celebs only receive heat if they have done something "controversial" anyways . They can easily ignore the tabs and besides if you're confident in yourself it wouldn't matter what people say anyways cos you're happy with yourself. These people clearly have issues that we have not created.

Just think about the day Britney dies; Y'All can build a SHRINE TO HER…

  12. 12

From the previews of the movie, et the research I have done; it is obvious that the movie should be based on Mindy McCready…Aspects such as: Mindy sings country, and she went to rehab for alcohol; and she was arrested for assaulting her mother while "Gwyneth" was arrested for drunken disorderly conduct

Anyone who comes on here and says celebrities can 'easily ignore the media' have clearly never seen the paparazzi run these people off the road, invade their private lives, and not even let them leave their house without blocking off their driveway. Also, since when did you get the idea that it was ok to ridicule anyone, celebrity or not, and that it's something you shouldn't think about or that it's what they get for choosing that particular career? These people are artists. Most of them are making the work they do because they are driven by their work and want to share it, not because they want or deserve sneers from people who are jealous of their fame and money. They don't deserve the nonsense people throw out there given the lives they have sacrificed from childhood to bring an ungrateful public entertainment they take for granted. So much of the public is so consumed by their own envy of these people they refuse to let them be human beings, nor do they stop to think about what their lives are truly like, not the BS image the paparazzi feeds. I seriously hope the public starts to grow up and think twice instead of acting like brainwashed lunatic parrots. Just because you don't know them doesn't mean you shouldn't have a conscience. And just because you are hiding anonymously behind your little computer screen doesn't make you superior.

Re: Maricela Cruz Funes – You bored the shit out of me. If you're Latina just go back to Lat and leave us white Americans alone. No one can even make sense of what you wrote, so get off this American blog. If you're so proud of being a Latina why don't you just go back to Lat where you came from?

Re: President Sarah – Shut the fuck up and jump off a damn cliff stupid ass! Not everyone on here is white you fuckin racist and plus at least that girl tried. You are so fuckin delusional. I hope you burn in hell when you die

  17. 17

I agree. Do i think its the media? or the people who seek the media? i think its both. When celebs have a rough time.. both parties forget that these people are human. Always was a michael jackson fan..always was a lindsey and britney fan.. not really an Amy winehouse fan but i find her interesting.

  18. 18

Re: Mushu Baby – Just because that girl said "White Americans" doesn't make her a racist. Most Americans are white. It's like when establishments say "Merry Christmas"- Yes, we know that not everybody celebrates that holiday, but since most people do in the U.S., they just say that instead because they're referring to the greater majority of people that do.

  19. 19

While I wish no harm to stars I may not like, what has Britney Spears given us other than shots of her vagina? She has donated to Charity, but she's no Angelina.

  20. 20

What a joke! Britney is not an inspiration for anyone!!!!!!!!!!!!

  21. 21

She's my favorite singer, but NEVER been a "inspiration." Britney + Inspiration = FUCK NO
