They truly are BFFs!

Gayle King said that when she saw her pal Oprah Winfrey shed tears during her interview with Barbara Walters, she began crying too!

Gayle, who was watching the ABC special in a hotel room in Tasmania, explained:

"I had just ordered room service and I was sitting there and I watched it. And I called her and said, 'I'm sitting in my room crying all by myself.' I was just caught off guard. No one had asked me the question that way."

During the special, Oprah described Gayle as the "mother I never had. She is…the sister everybody would want. She is the friend that everybody deserves."

Gayle said that even though she always knew that Oprah valued their 30-year friendship, it was the first time she ever heard Oprah describe her that way. She added:

"Why would she say, 'You're the mother I never had?!' Why would she say that to me? I know we mean a lot to each other, but no, we don't go around expressing our love for each other. It just is."

Aw, that's so sweet! It's making us tear up a little bit too! It must feel pretty amazing to hear your best friend say such beautiful things about you on national television.

Their friendship is a beautiful thing to see…they are supported by each other and have each others' backs. They have never betrayed each other or lashed out at each other. I find that admirable and enviable.

LOL. Gale would be a moran to do or say anything negative about the great and powerful Orka.

I don't get the "mother I never had" part. Oprah had a mother, and still does…she's still alive.

Gayle was loyal to Oprah years before anyone could have imagined Oprah would be rich and powerful. I think that's a big part of their bond. Seeing two strong black women so united is a beautiful thing. I love them both.

Regardless of the nature of their relationship, it is really awesome to share part of your life with someone and have the same feelings of respect towards each other. That is a true friend and I don't think many of us have that deep emotional connection with many.

Of course she did. Oppie dissed her, claiming not to be a lesbian.

Re: sNaTcHqUaTcH – Oprah's mother beat the s h i t out of her, was incapable of any nurturing, she may still be alive, but was never and still is not her "mother".

Why would she say that to Gayle? The answer would only be truly known to someone who never had that.
