teena marie passes away

So sad.

Grammy nominated R&B singer Teena Marie has passed away at 54 years old.

According to Marie's publicist, Lynn Jeter, she suffered a grand mal seizure a month before her death.

The R&B singer gave us 13 studio albums over the course of her career, and she was one of the top white artists under the Motown Records label.

Our thoughts are with Marie's friends and family and many, many fans.

She will be missed.

    Such sad news.
Five years ago she did a free concert in City Hall Park, NYC, as part of the J&R Music Festival. She was in fine form, sounded great, and I was thrilled to see her.
    Rest in peace, dear.

RIP baby, you were a very upbeat artist, mostlikely the only white singer of the 80's who could accually sing with soul. Damnn why all the talented die while taylor swift and rhianna get to live? smh teena will be missed, the white girl on the outside but a soulful sista on the inside.

Criminally underrated and majorly talented. A lot of people seem to remember her solely for "Lovergirl" in the 80s, but she was so much more than that. Singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, producer, arranger, etc. Not the first white girl to rap on a song, but she showed she had swagger back in 1981 when she rapped on "Square Biz."
    RIP Lady T!

Re: gigiloves – My prayers are with her family, friends, and her daughter especially. She's the one that found her dead in her sleep. They looked SO incredibly close. Terrible news. She was a great artist and underrated as well.
