Julie Taymor Cancels Interview Due To Spider-Man Rehearsal

| Filed under: Icky Icky PooBroadway Babies

Due to the complications stemming from the troubled Broadway production of Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark, director Julie Taymor has canceled an upcoming speaking engagement at a New York Times event in which she was to be interviewed by staffer Patrick Healy!

According to a press representative:

"With the changes to the Spider-Man production schedule, Julie will be deep in rehearsals and will not be available to participate."

Somehow, we think there's a little more to it than that!

So Perez. You rip apart this show for it being unsafe. Now they are making production changes and need to rehearse them and you rip them apart. What would you like them to do? Magic? You really are an idiot sometimes.

@Samtra here's what they can do: Cancel it! - I went to a preview run for the show and it is horrible - the book is terrible, the story has nothing to do with Spider-man (there's a freaking spider queen!!???) It's just a bad play. The only thing it has going for is the music (The spectacle is horrible - there's like 5 different actors who play spider-man and they all have different body types so you can obviously see that it's not the same person, and the flying is not that great - Mary Poppins has better flying) Broadway does NOT need a show like Spider-man. Broadway needs high quality theatre, not some expensive hollywood type shitty entertainment.
