Prince William & Kate Want To Live The Simple Life

In other words, they're not looking to hire any servants! None!

According to a palace source, Prince William and Kate Middleton have decided not to hire a "domestic staff" after they are married. That means no butler, no valet, no personal chef, no maid - nothing! They're all about the royal roughing it!

It won't be such a drastic change for the couple, since they have lived in their four-bedroom farmhouse in North Wales for some time now without any help. In fact, Kate is often seen doing the grocery shopping for the pair, which as a second palace source points out, "tells you all you need to know about how they lead their life."

It's certainly very charming to think of them as royals who want to be treated just like the rest of their people. We think it's a good sign of a good leader in the making.

His mother would certainly be proud!

To me it just shows that they're not lazy and wasteful… when the Queen visited Virginia a while ago.. she changed to a new pair of gloves EVERY TIME she shook someone's hand. It made me so angry. I'm glad their monarchy is changing for the better.

whoooo hooo I am soo proud of them.

  3. 3

Or maybe they don't want all those tell-all books years from now…

  4. 4

Yeah right, like I really believe Kate is going to be scrubbing the toilet bowl and picking the hairs out of the sink…..

Re: MLE9025 – wtf i dont where you read that?!! because that is not true.
And William will never be a "good leader" because the monarchy have no power anymore. They're just a constitutional formality.

I think his mother would be so proud of him, the way he lives his life and the choice he has made in a mate. But if they don't want the butlers, maids, valets or chefs…I will gladly take them off their hands.

I think that young royals should be expected to train in living a normal life as a requirement while they are still under 20. They should learn to do laundry, clean and cook just like the rest of us, this doesn't make me respect them anymore then I did before. They are just finally learning the perks of living a normal life. Servants/cleaning staff can be alot of trouble and can spread gossip which may not be true. I don't think the British monarchy will last longer then William due to UK's unstable economic situation, so this is a good idea.

I think that's great, but really - there's nothing wrong with having a housekeeper to help keep up the house (especially a palace!) Even 'commoners' like myself and many other people I know have a housekeeper. I can't imagine Kate scrubbing the tubs and the toilets in her palace either.

Oh please…they'll have the royal arse wipers just like the other royal leeches before them.

Re: Erin Waldie – They could never comprehend what normal is, no matter how much training they got. Talk about unfair division of riches

What a pipe dream! They'll have a lot of social obligations and a jammed packed schedule, given who they are, that they don't have right now. They won't have time to be going to the grocery and washing toilets! They'll definitely end up with probably a very small staff. Probably a housekeeper, a cook, and a maid, someone to take care of the outside, and definitely security. They'll also have to have a secretary and a scheduler. They won't be living exclusively in Wales, they'll be at one of the palaces, Kensington or St. James. They'll be very popular and will probably be cutting lots of ribbons, and doing lots of visits to hospitals, orphans, factories and slums, traveling, and speeches, and other princely B.S. just like other members of the Royal Family have for generations going back hundreds of years.

Re: MLE9025 – She prolly sells them on eBay for "souvenirs."

I'm really surprised the Queen would let them live together…given how Diana had to be a virgin to marry Charles.

Yea right. That will last about 1 month after Kate has to do laundry, iron, vacum, dust, make beds, clean bathrooms, shop for food, cook, clean up, walk dogs, work and everything else that comes with keeping up a household for a Prince! Sorry don't beleive it for one minuite!

It's just for their vacation home from what I understand. They want privacy.
Different story in London, no doubt. Good for them, anyway. No prying eyes.

  16. 16

    We'll see how long it'll last…

If they did hire a few people, I wouldn't blame them. Everyone could use extra help, the average family can, so I imagine royals with royal duties should/could too.

Re: Dixie77 – My guess is that the queen harbors some guilt over that situation. Charles wanted to marry Camilla to begin with, but the royal courtiers and the queen disapproved of the match because Camilla was a free spirit (sexual and otherwise). Then she got married, but after he got back from military service he continued sleeping with her anyway. Now he's back with her and that whole embarrassing (for the royals) situation with Charles, Diana, the divorce and the affairs was all for naught.

    Good for them.

They've been living together already? Don't get me wrong, I don't give a rats behind one way or the other…good for them, but I thought she was required to be a virgin in order to marry him. Now I'm confused.
