Kathy Griffin Says Good-Bye To My Life On The D-List, Talks Life After!

| Filed under: TV NewsKathy GriffinReality TV

This is such a bummer! But we can understand why it would be time.

After a bit of speculation as to whether or not it would continue, Kathy Griffin has officially announced that her Bravo reality series, My Life On The D-List, will be coming to an end after six seasons!

But don't worry! If you still need your Kathy fix, network executive Andy Cohen revealed that they'll be airing four of her brand new comedy specials, set to drop quarterly in 2011!

Cohen said in a statement:

"There is no better way to start off 2011 than giving Kathy Griffin an unprecedented four new stand-up comedy specials on Bravo in one year. Kathy's quick fire humor and ability to tap into pop culture make for must watch television."

And Kathy herself explains:

"It was a really tough decision because I think of the D-List as pretty much my baby for the last six seasons and I also think it was really time to stop doing it. Reality is great, but I really didn't set out to be a reality star. So now it's time to spread my wings and show that I'm a little different than Kate Gosselin. I'm not saying better, but maybe separate myself from the pack a little bit. I just cannot get enough or do enough stand-up. And there's so much fun stuff going on – from Oprah's launch of [cable network] OWN … not to mention the new Paula Abdul show [Live to Dance] or who knows what celebrity run-in I've had myself. [I'm] trying to keep the material as up to the minute as possible. Audiences know when they come to see me live, they're going to see new stuff. [And] as long as there's a show called My Strange Addiction about a woman who only eats toilet paper … then I have to do stand up."

And that's not all! The comedienne is also hoping to get back into sitcoms, and even do a Curb Your Enthusiasm-esque improvised series with "some characters from the D-List that you've come to love, and then maybe I'll have actors play a couple other characters that are from my real life."

NICE! We'd take that in lieu of the reality series any day!

It certainly sounds like you've got a lot of cool stuff in the works for 2011, bb!

We're DEFINITELY excited to see what you've got for us!

Best of luck!

I never had seen much from Kathy Grifford until one day channel surfing i found this show.. and I must say it is absolutely hilarious. Kathy is a true comedian…. I will miss tuning in for the laughs! Good Luck in future endeavours Kathy!

She is a bully. She makes fun of fat people, just to hurt one person. Picks on a 16 year old since she hates her family. And tries to hook up with a 20 something kid, then ridicules him when he decides her surgery enhanced 50 year old body is not what he wants. I thought you disliked bullying?

The less I see of her the better. Everything that comes out of her mouth is retarded.

The four stand-up comedy specials per year will help me adjust to the loss.
I wish you the best in your future endeavours Kathy.
I am sure I will thoroughly enjoy them!

In case no one noticed, her ratings have been tanking. Last season it was only like 8 episodes instead of 12 or 14. It sucked and I have been a faithful watcher. But, I couldn't take it any more because she's SO offensive and rude. Just like Mario likes them.

Her show has sucked for awhile now. Just as well. I used to adore her…but since she got off the D-list, she just isn't nearly as relatable…and her type of humor demands relatability.

I can't like anybody who tries to lift themselves up by stomping on other peoples' backs — or saying bad stuff about others to make themselves look good — it never has worked — only stupid and mean people do that . Just saying..
