R-Patz Joins New Cronenberg Film

rpatz in new cronenberg film

Uh oh, film school kids! Looks like you'll have to let Robert Pattinson into your world.

R-Patz has landed the lead role in David Cronenberg's Cosmopolis, based on the Don DeLillo novel.

He'll star as Eric Packer, a "financial wunderkind" who "risks his entire fortune to bet against the yen on a tumultuous day." His actions also put his life at risk, in this film which takes place in a "slightly futuristic metropolis."

Knowing Cronenberg's previous films, we're wondering if any of the following will happen to R-Patz in Cosmopolis:

- Will he have a naked fight scene, like Viggo Mortensen in Eastern Promises?

- Will he turn into a fly, like Jeff Goldlbum in The Fly?

- Will his head explode, like in Scanners?

Given some of the director's recent work, we're thinking this one MIGHT be a bit more low key, but we're def intrigued!

Are U excited to see this Cronen-Patz collaboration?

I've said this one and I'll say it again.

I smell yet another major flop, and it smells like B.O and greasy hair.

Well, Perez, I wouldn't mind seeing him turn in The Fly! He's almost there as it is. And I certainly wouldn't mind if his head explodes. But seeing him in a NAKED fight scene ala Viggo…that would be too much for my sensitive stomach. I'd puke. I know. You like RPatz. That's fine. But that doesn't mean I have to. ;)

Nothing interesting will happen in this movie. If anyone knows the author Don DeLillo knows that he writes books with a lot of potential, but in the end the book is ruined by a over whelming jabs of consumption and fear of death. Also the plots in his books seem to go somewhere till the climax where it leaves the reader questioning. Though idiot girls will not care if R-Patz is in it and the movie will make money like that awful movie Remember Me.

I'm excited to see Pattinson in anything! he's doing well at choosing his movies.

I can see from some of the comments that people like eyeh8twilight are too childish to even know who Cronenberg is. They don't realize that he is a brilliant director. Too many kiddies post on this site who know nothing about films. And yes, I look forward to all of Rob's movies.

Why watch out film school kids? Rob went to film and music school?

Yes I think Rob is a good actor and hasn't even gotten started yet. I think once he gets away for the Twilight series, and the lack luster actors and the more he is in movies with good actors I think he will only get better.

I'm a fan of Rob's, more from Remember Me, where I thought he was excellent.
I think him and Cronenberg will make a great team and I am looking forward to this, as well as Water For Elephants. I give him credit for having the courage to break away from the whole Twilight enterprise, and try new things that may not be quite as universally accepted, but will be thoughtful and provocative films to watch.
    Congrats to Rob!

    Re: Tahoe
I agree. I loved "Remember me" and can't wait for "Water for Elephants!" It looks great! He's very talented when given a good script
