Arizona Congresswoman Shot!

This is so sad.

U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords of Arizona was shot outside a grocery store in Tucson Saturday morning during a public event.

According to a spokeswoman for University Medical Center in Tucson, she is currently undergoing surgery for a gunshot wound to the head.

Reports say that at least 17 other people were injured, including a child around the age of 10. Six people are reportedly dead.

An Arizona federal judge was also among the 11 people that were shot.

The suspect is said to be in custody.

So crazy. And just so tragic.

This poor woman is one of the people that bitch Sarah Palin put crosshairs on in her blog.

  2. 2

Apparently it was a Sarah Palin event gone wrong, very wrong.

  3. 3

Hope she get well and survive this.
The tea party retards have gone too far inciting hatred against the left. Here's the result.

  4. 4

please, no one start the hate that is going on, on blogs all over the net… disgusting, all pointing fingers, some even on tv… the man who did this is obviously insane

  5. 5

The shooter is supposed to be a Jared Laughner.

  6. 6

    Was inevitable-
Psycho killer crazy finally caught up to the stupid rhetoric of the misinformed RIGHT!

  7. 7

Perez, welcome to the United States, land of violence. I'll never forget the statistic from Michael Moore's Bowling for Columbine: Canada has the same per capita gun ownership, but one-tenth the amount of gun violence as the United States. There's something seriously wrong with the culture of violence in America, and especially in Arizona. I live in Arizona for 15 years and I've never seen a place with so many sick-headed people. One year while I was there they elected a known fascist as their governor. He was later impeached for his crimes. Joe Arpaio, the sheriff of Maricopa Country, where Phoenix is located, is a fascist who delights in torturing his prisoners, yet he has a 93 percent approval rating!

  8. 8

I used to live in Arizona for 4 1/2 years. It's a beautiful state but unfortunately it's full of nutjobs, zealots and bigots. I hope Representative Giffords is able to recover.

  9. 9

Sarah Palin has blood all over her hands on this one.

  10. 10

Re: justtfax – this is an obvious political thing, and youre an idiot if you think otherwise

  11. 11

according to the news and everywhere else BUT here she died cause she was shot point blank in the head…

  12. 12

    Re: laythisdown
Well, it's your problem in the US that you allow everyone to carry guns like it's the wild wild west. Then you're surprised when mass massacres happen every Sunday, Monday, Thursday and Saturday.
The only other countries that allow this are third world countries.

  13. ka.06 says – reply to this

This is a complete and total tragedy. I hope that the victims of this gunman recover successfully. As for the people on here who keep blaming it on Republicans and Tea Party members, you should be ashamed. The motive of the shooter has not been released so you have absolutely no idea if this guy did it because of politics or for all we know he was on meth. I'll stick to CNN to get reliable news on this story instead of media that leans to the right or left. No one is to blame except for the shooter.

  14. 14

How sad, and it is even worse that the tea party probably has something to do with encouraging it. When there is a party of hate out there what has this world come to? Our country already has enough shootings as it is.

  15. 15

she probably going to die her slim of being able to survive are very slim since she was shot on the head.

  16. 16

The murderer is Jared Loughner. He has some stupid fucking video on YouTube. This shooting has nothing to do with Palin. If you watch the video then you'd know that Jared is severely mentally disturbed and, apparently, obsessed with grammar, currency and the US Constitution. Only Fox is reporting who the shooter is and what he's all about. MSNBC and CNN want peeps to think this guy is Palin-inspired and politically motivated.

  17. 17

Americans and their guns, and yet another tragedy. We had ONE massacre and we banned guns in our country, yet you guys have a massacre every other week but nothing is done. You can blame it on insanity and not the guns if you want, if that's the case then there seems to be far more psychos in the U.S than in other countries, all the more reason to make sure they can't get their hands on guns. I'm sorry if these comments upset any Americans, but the rest of us (in the western world at least) simply do not understand some things that America does, the whole gun thing is one of them.

R.I.P to the victims, our thoughts and prayers are with you and with the injured.

"I hope that's not where we're going, but you know if this Congress keeps going the way it is, people are really looking toward those Second Amendment remedies and saying my goodness what can we do to turn this country around? I'll tell you the first thing we need to do is take Harry Reid out." –Nevada GOP Senate nominee and Tea Party favorite Sharron Angle, floating the possibility of armed insurrection, interview with right-wing talk radio host Lars Larson in Portland, OR, January 2010
Any inspiration for a psychopath here?

  20. 20

@Tery Blaty, I think you totally missed the point of the statistic about gun ownership in Canada vs. the United States. It's not owning guns that causes this or Canada would have the same gun violence as the U.S. instead of one-tenth as much. It's a sick, violence-promoting culture that causes this violence, a culture that is promoted by the military-industrial complex and the corporate-owned mass media.

  21. 21

Re: CrossMyHeartX – Surprisingly, Perez actually got this one right. According to a statement from the surgeon, she is actually alert and talking! A lot of news reports are stating that she died, but the official word is she amazingly alive.

  22. 22

Re: supersongbird – That's awful. I'm all for sane and responsible gun ownership, but when there are extremists encouraging 'Second Amendment remedies' to people's dissatisfaction with government there are going to be horrible consequences. So sad :(

  23. 23

…and you wonder why the most of the rest of the world thinks we are a pack of savages? I think we are too far gone, Canada anyone?

  24. 24

Only a deRe: supersongbird – only a stupid fuck liberal would use this tragedy for a political agenda. Not only are you an idiot you are basically unamerican. Have some respect dumbass

  25. 25

    Re: Eldridge Cleaver

you are right eldridge, this is a sad incident, seventeen were injured, including a child, and now we have opportunists trying to turn this thing into a political crime, it's very sad.Bye eldridge

  26. 26

  27. 27

Re: dalymo12 – wow crazy how all the news stations were reporting and tweeting her death. Not very cool to jump the gun on something like that (absolutely NO pun intended for lack of a better word) hopefully she recovers with no brain damage. Its way too easy for people to get ahold of guns nowadays and that needs to change.

  28. 28

Anyone who blames this tragedy on the Tea Party or Sarah Palin is ridiculously dense. How ludicrous! Shame on the liberals for making every and any attempt to slander the conservative name. The Tea Party is not represented by a demented murderer in any way. The Tea Party stands for a better America and in no means the killing or injuring of anyone. Nor do they represent any form of racism or prejudice. Why don't people do their research rather than believe all the fabricated speculation put out in the media??

  29. 29

Re: nicky45 – "Dumbass"-Is that all you ever have to say?
Although this tragedy occurred because this man is a fringe psychopath with issues much deeper that political ones, the rhetoric from the side you choose to defend, the far right has become dangerous and violence inciting with this tea party militia and NRA fueled threats of violence toward the left and specifically members of Congress. Why are you not aware of this? Maybe you are and just cheer it on?
This lunatic went after Rep. Giffords specifically because of the policies she backed. Now at least 5 people including a 9 year old child are dead. I am literally sick over this you ASSHOLE!
You are some piece of work calling me a dumbass when you are one of the loons still questioning the President's birth certificate… ect… blah blah blah.
Idiots like YOU are what is keeping this hateful and potentially dangerous misinformation alive! You are an ENABLER!

  30. 30

Re: Eldridge Cleaver – ive been watching cnn for the past 3 hours and the only time they mentioned palin was when repeated what palin said about this tragedy, they never once said palin inspired him.

  31. 31

Re: Eldridge Cleaver – I've been watching CNN all day and they haven't even commented on the killer until recently and are actively saying not to make any kind of political connection to the attack yet YOU sit there and claim they have a liberal agenda. YOU ARE A PERFECT EXAMPLE OF BRAINWASHED FOX NEWS MIND CONTROL. Open your eyes bitch.

  32. 32

Re: CBenji – Giffords’ 2010 congressional opponent Jesse Kelly held a gun event that was billed "Get on Target for Victory in November Help remove Gabrielle Giffords from office / Shoot a fully automatic M16 with Jesse Kelly" on a Republican website. Sarah Palin put a bulls-eye "logo" on Giffords congressional race during the 2010 campaign. That alone is disgusting and absolutely uncalled for, but in the light of this event even more horrific. Of course, the person who pulled the trigger is the only one to blame, but I can't say I'm surprised some people are looking at Palin.

  33. 33

Re: supersongbird – Jeffrey Dahmer was a registered democrat. Will your side take resposibility for him.. That's what I thought. I call you a dumbass because you clearly are either 13 or mentally challenged

  34. 34

Re: Red Panda – And this coming from a US Senate candidate that lost only by a slim margin in Nevada. Sarah Palin had a map of the US on her website with actual cross hair targets on all of the districts where she thought Congress members would vote for agendas the GOP did not approve of. Democratic reps in largely Republican states. She removed it promptly when the media pointed out how irresponsible it was and dangerous something like this could become.
I tried to post the link but just google Palin cross hair map. Also google "Celebrating Conservatism". Scary!
Arizona just loosened way up on gun control too. So tragic and so unnecessary.

  35. 35

I live in Safford, Arizona and was by the Chandler Fashion Center when that shooting happened and now this shooting happens! What the fucks going on with this fucking country!!

  36. 36

Re: One_Night_Only – I live in Arizona, am as left wing as possible and I abhor guns. This state really does feel it's the wild west and to keep living like it's the wild west. If anyone and their dog can obtain a gun then yes, that means people with mental illnesses can own a gun. WHY must guns be legal? SO much backwards in this state. It is legal here to carry a gun into a bar. Is that not laughable? Only recently tho are fireworks legal.

  37. 37

This is what partisan bickering has resulted in. Hate breeds hate and extremism. I certainly hope people learn from this tragedy and start treating each other like human beings and not animals.

  38. 38

Re: nicky45 – dude please just shut the fuck up. you are arguing like a 13 year old. Seriously you pulled out the jeffrey dahmer card? WTF. Well Ted Bundy was a conservative omg! seriously you and everyone get over your politics and realize this is a tragedy. A man with serious mental issues managed to obtain a gun killed innocent ppl. The only thing we all should be arguing about is his punishment.

  39. 39

  40. 40

Re: supersongbird – I saw the crosshair map. So irresponsible and reckless, just like Bill O'Reilly with the Dr Tiller business. I think these people should realize that violent words and imagery have no place in civilized political discourse, and that they are inciting real hatred and violence when they use these cheap tactics to stir people up. Unfortunately O'reilly seems to have some severe personality disorder and Palin is just plain ignorant. These people won't change.

  41. 41

Wow, so sad! No Sarah Palin is not to blame… there is screw balls in this world… THEY are to blame. Come on now…

  42. 42

Nobody knows the motives so we really shouldn't speculate. I just wish her a speedy recovery and for the mother who lost her child today may she RIP am really sorry no words are enough for such a lost.

  43. 43

Re: nicky45 – Jeffery Dahmer? You are actually comparing Jeffery Dahmer being a registered Democrat to this tragedy?
What did any Democratic politician do to "inspire" him to drug, rape, murder and cannibalize people? What Republican politician did he target?
You of all people should get this-The blinding hatred people like you harbor for President Obama is part of of what happened here. Mix that hatred and all the misinformation you thrive on daily (health care, taxes, birth certificate) let it build up then apply it to a fringe lunatic, rally up the NRA gun nuts- a horrible tragedy waiting to happen!
This poor victim is a Democratic member of Congress who was targeted because of political policies she helped pass-all the stuff you HATE, not a random serial killing spree, imbecile.
Your stupidity never ceases to amaze me- really. lol haha Jeffrey Dahmer lol lol

  44. 44

Re: AndreasCullen – Hey, dipshit, you proved my fucking point. You've been watching CNN "all day" and they didn't mention the killer until recently. I fucking said that. I wrote that Fox was the only one talking about the killer…because everybody hears Democratic politician shot and assumes that some pissed off Republican shot her. CNN and MSNBC wanted people to jump to conclusions. I suggest you change the channel if you've been watching CNN all day. CNN is about as psycho as news outlets come. Very liberal just like your pansy ass!

Re: supersongbirdRe: Insanity_77 – both of you morons missed the point. Shocker. I meant it is obsurd to think a certain party had influence on a pyscho. Ill try to explain it in simpler terms for you two next time.

  47. 47

Re: Insanity_77 – Seriously, go fuck your mother! How fucking dumb are you? You admit to Nicky that the shooter has "serious mental issues" then you conclude your dumb fucking rant by writing that the only thing to argue about is how to punish him. You want to punish him? He's fucking crazy. If you want to argue about something, you should argue about how mentally ill people are treated. Have you no empathy for this young man? I feel bad for everyone affected by this including the shooter. The dead little girl most of all though.

  48. 48

Re: Tery BlatyRe: Tery Blaty – oh please! this kind of thing happens all over the world, not just America and third world countries…
In London we had one of our television presenters shot dead on her own doorstep - Jill Dando, and not forgetting the massacre at a school in dunblane, scotland where a gunmen shot dead 16 children and 1 adult.
These kinds of attacks are carried out by obvious nutjobs because of their own weird reasons and they are clearly insane.
As i said, what has happened in america happens all over the world in all kinds of countries, and sadly will happen again.

  49. 49

Re: Insanity_77 – True there is no definitive motive why she was targeted yet. And this "conversation" is going nowhere fast lol.
Just so upsetting and with all of the hate and violence incited in our political discourse as of late and the lack of proper gun control is infuriating.
Lock this psychopath up and throw away the key-case closed!
Don't know about you but it's Saturday and I'm going out. Have a good night.
Re: Red Panda – Have a good night Red Panda :)
    Re: Moogle80 – Hi :)

  50. 50

Re: Eldridge Cleaver – Only you would turn this tragedy into some ignorant, angry political rhetoric. Blah, blah, blah, CNN blah, blah, blah, Fox News blah, blah, blah Barry Obama is a one term president. You fucking suck.

  51. 51

A Federal Judge and a 9 year girl was killed among the 6 slain.
The man has no soul! He just opened fire point blank. The Congresswoman is alive and they say she may survive. Prayers to those that died and their families. There is no excuse for what this person dead. Sane or not!
Just to kill children and innocent people is just wrong.
    Peace out,

  52. 52

Re: Eldridge Cleaver – actually Eldridge you make a very good point…
where i live 3 psychiatric hospitals have been closed down in the space of a year "to cut costs".
the patients were moved to community care housing but in reality they were just dumped back into the community with little or no help. The rise in crime was noticed, especially unprovoked attacks on innocent people, some which were fatal. It was only then that it was acknowledged that some of these people needed more help and support, even if it was to just take their medication at specific times. Most when given the help and support they needed were able to leave relatively normal lives..

  53. 53

Re: Eldridge Cleaver – This shooting had EVERYTHING to do with Palin and her supporters. Wake up before it is too late, the U.S. are nearing a second civil war because of nuts like you.

  54. 54

My thoughts and prayers are with all the victims of todays tragegy and of course their families and friends and all who knew and loved them. so sad :(

  55. 55

    Re: Eldridge Cleaver

and the award for the brightest user here at perez hilton goes to : "eldridge cleaver", thank you eldridge, you wrote exactly what i was thinking, as a 24 years old bipolar that still lives with his parents (because i'm brave enough to know that i can't live alone, besides i feel like britney spears, and that's awesome), one of the things that crossed my mind was, what is going to happen with this guy ?, yes, so far we only know that he shot at eighteen people, including gabrielle, and a child, but we don't know what happened to him that triggered such a violent behavior, i do not defend his actions, but i believe that he needs to be treated and this sad episode can't be forgotten, we need to use it to remind us the importance of life, and the importance of people, of our family and our friends, no more violence, please, no more violence. xoxo eldridge.

  56. 56

Re: Paris France – Sorry, no excuse for what this person did.

  57. 57

Have tried twice to post Rep Giffords' 2010 statement expressing her concern about being in the crosshairs of Palin's target list, but alas neither post has made it into these comments. Giffords statement concludes … When people do that, they've got to realize there's consequences to that action.

  58. 58

maybe Jan Brewer should stop her racist lies about the immigrants in Arizona (unfounded claims of killings and beheadings) and worry more about the white people in her state. from what the people on this site who actually live or lived in Arizona have said it seems the state is full of hateful bigots, with easy access to guns. Is it true you can legally carry a gun into bars in Arizona? crazy! if Brewer didn't have her police force busy with racial profiling they might have more time to worry about real issues, like crazy people with guns.

  59. 59

Republicans and Baggers = Facist Nazis.

  60. 60

Re: MJ ROCKS!!! – Howdy, MJ Rocks :) Yes, this tragic incident should bring the issue of mental illness to light. The whole thing is just so sad and will no doubt change how politicians interact with the public much like 9/11/01 changed air travel. Take care, friend :)

  61. 61

Re: fer cyccone! – You are brave for sharing your story. If I recall correctly, you are an aspiring writer. Robert Frost once wrote "No tears in the writer, no tears in the reader." Hopefully, your experience can be used in your work. xoxo back to you!

  62. 62

'………..a right to bare arms….' yup, that's America.

  63. 63

Re: AttFinch – You are saying this was a hatefull bigot? Try a person that is menatally ill. Get your facts straight asshole

  64. 64

i wonder what sarah palins going to say now that she basically provoked this. this poor woman did nothing to deserve being shot and neither did any of the victims. hopefully they all get better soon

  65. 65

USA is a fucked up country. It is also a wonderful country, filled with great people. But the laws are making it easy for not-so-good-people to exercise violence and hate-founded acts! You, the population, need to see it! So many of you refuse to see that there is something wrong with your country, because that would be "extremely un-American", or "show signs of hatred towards your own country". That is wrong. Looking at your country in an objective way is healthy and important. You need to change both your views and your country! Every other nation in the west is seeing this. It's time for you to do the same. Maybe that can prevent such horrible events as this sad one.

  66. 66

My thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and their families. This was such a senseless act of violence that i can't even comprehend. These families have lost loved ones and even worse, one family has lost their little girl, nobody at this event did anything to deserve this, the gunman is obviously seriously disturbed. I look forward to hearing what his motives are and what he was thinking. Thankfully he was taken into custody where as so many other lunatics commit suicide when they do something like this, forever eluding the justice system and the families who deserve justice get nothing. Unfortunately though, this man should spend his life in jail but will probably be declared insane and spend life in a mental institution instead, getting off easier. Ps. I endorse vigilante justice.

  67. 67

Re: LisaRose – LOL I had to chuckle at the little fact you gave that fireworks have only just been made legal. It really does highlight the point that some things are just backwards and strange over where you live, I'm an Aussie by the way. And yes it is laughable that you can carry a concealed weapon into a bar in Arizona, drunken morons are bad enough I can't imagine what armed drunken morons must be like!
Btw I'm sure we have things that could be done better here too, but I'm proud to say we get issues like gun control done properly. I really hope I haven't generalised Americans to much with my comments, it can be very easy to generalise when speaking on these issues, though I assure you that myself and many other like-minded people where I'm from all understand that there are a great many wonderful Americans out there too and I'm sure you are one of them! We also feel sorry for people like you because of all the crap you have to put up with from some fellow citizens…..stay strong LisaRose!!

  68. 68

Re: nicky45 – And what would that point be, dumbass? That you made a faulty comparison to support an unsupportable claim, people called you out on it with excellent arguments and you respond again with insults instead of arguments to defend yourself. Looks like you got your ass handed to you and you know it - that's why you're frothing at the mouth like that.

  69. 69

woo i didnt know there were so many ignorant liberal assholes on this site, sarah palin this and that you young peckerwoods had better grow up and stop suckin this country dry because mommy and daddy aint gonna be around forever, what a bunch of off road assholes you guys and ho's are, get a job losers

  70. 70

Why does no one mention that it's Sarah Palin's fault?! Her campaign is 'targetting' this representative along with others. She needs to fucking realize that some of her followers are actually more stupid than she is and her words mean something to those people. I hope Palin get's sued.

  71. 71

Re: nicky45 – That has to be the WEAKEST comeback I have ever read. Take some writing classes, then get back to us. LOL.

  72. 72

Re: Eldridge Cleaver – Eldridge, calm down. I know your trip back from Arizona was "taxing", but you and your buddies are not getting blamed for anything. Although, if you go back and read what you wrote objectively (never mind. That is impossible for you), you would realize that you are more guilty of playing "the blame game" than the "libs" you hate so much. The packers are playing today, so I have to leave, but just want to let you know that you and yours are still free to spread your hateful vitriol even after the next child is shot. Feelin' happy about that?

  73. 73

Re: nicky45 – That isn't what AttFinch is saying DUMBASS. AttFinch point is maybe Jan Brewer instead of wasting police resources harassing Latinos to ask for their papers should rethink her gun policies and start looking at why crazy white people are able to purchase guns. You are just dull aren't you.
Bigotry actually may be relevant to the tragedy-
"When you look at unbalanced people, how they respond to the vitriol that comes out of certain mouths about tearing down the government. The anger, the hatred, the bigotry that goes on in this country is getting to be outrageous, And unfortunately, Arizona I think has become sort of the capital. We have become the mecca for prejudice and bigotry." A direct quote from Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik in response to the shooting.

  74. 74

Re: nicky45 – I guess this hits you where you live, bigot. Anyone who has read your posts can plainly see you hate hate HATE President Obama because of his skin color. And I see still no defense from you of the violent gun related rhetoric we keep hearing from the far right like your heroes Palin and Angle. All that gun talk needs to stop now as continuing such "metaphors" like "second amendment remedies" would bring their trashiness down to a whole new level. WOULDN'T IT.
From now on you better check yourself and watch what you say. Make sure you fact check before you post-IDIOT!

  75. 75

Re: Eldridge Cleaver – And the same goes for you. Next time you feel the need to hate on the President for bullshit made up reasons or express the sick obsession you have for "ILLEGALS" think about this tragedy. Also think about the fact that Latino children in predominantly white schools are being bullied and called "ILLEGAL" even when they aren't. If this disgusting racist talk continues and the gun fetish talk continues there will likely be be more tragedies to come.
The hate comes from your side not mine and it needs to stop here and now.

  76. 76

Re: Lance Peters – I should tell you to calm down, Lance. You are so upset over my comments that you just HAD to direct a comment to me, didn't you? And you make jokes that I was in AZ implying that I was involved in the shooting? Taxing? Fucking lame jokes you got going. I'm not letting Sarah Palin get blamed for the murder of 6 people and you think I'm playing a blame game? You are so liberal it's fucking amazing!

  77. 77

Sucks that happened to her, hey well what da you know, it wasn't an illegal alien, they should be paying more attention on their security then raiding walmarts and trying to racially profile suspected immagrants. i think this might be called Charma!

  78. 78

The Pima County Sheriff was just in a new conference and he made a couple of really important points about this mass murder. First, he pointed out that when he was a beat cop in the 1960s, when they ran into people who were insane the police would put them into a system in which they were incarcerated for their own good and for the public good. Now, those people are out on the streets and they are a major problem. You can blame President Reagan for that. Second, he pointed out that the over-the-top political rhetoric is in the U.S. today is inciting unbalanced people.

  79. 79

I just have to make this comment, but why are so many people blaming Sarah Palin over this? I dont like the woman either but why is this all her fault? She didn't make this guy take a gun and open fire on innocent people.
And i also have to remark on a comment one person made, calling somebody un-American, well i may not live in America but i need to ask what makes an American? Because so far from what i see Americans are mostly full of hateful people who tear down others just for daring to be different and following their hearts. So try to tell me, what makes a person un-American?

  80. 80

Re: Lance Peters – So with you Lance. The bitch from Wasilla posts targets on people and someone gets shot.Coincidence? I don't fucking think so.The name calling is stupid and immature.People usually resort to that when they nothing of substance to offer.

  81. 81

Re: Eldridge Cleaver:D you take care also Eldridge!

  82. 82

i bet sarah palin had something to do with this. stupid bitch needs to pack up with her used to be knocked up teenager and get the fuck out of arizona. their the ones who are screwing this state over. no wonder tragedy is happening a lot now a days.

  83. 83

Everyone needs to calm down. This is why political parties are so terrible. Liberals call Conservatives this and that and vise versa. Guess what? You're both acting immature and hateful. That's what political parties do.

The only person to blame is the gunner. We are accountable for our own actions.

  84. 84

Re: supersongbird – i agree with you, but there's really no point in wasting your time dealing with "dumbasses" like nicky here… he's an ignorant, right-wing, uneducated loser who doesn't know sh*t about politics. He probably watches FOX news every once in a blue moon and that's where he gathers his information, or shall i say MISinformation!

  85. 85

There's no doubt that Sarah Palin should not have used crosshairs to mark members of Congress.

But that's certainly not what motivated this sicko. This shooting happened at MY safeway! Near MY la salsa! And MY (former) blockbuster. This hits very close to home (literally). I grew up mere blocks away.

But I wish people would stop blaming the city, and state. I lived in Tucson for almost 20 years. It has its crazies, certainly. But it also has its completely sane and intelligent citizens. I don't want to diminish what happened in any way, but horrible things happen everywhere, every day. Blame the suspect, or suspects. Don't condemn millions of people.
