Good start for the new year!

SNL's first new episode of 2011, hosted by Jim Carrey, brought in big ratings with a 7.8 household rating.

It was the show's highest rated show since Betty White hosted in back in May.

Jim Carrey and SNL seem like a perfect match. We thought the Black Swan parody was HIGHlarious.

Did U watch??

I am guessing the ratings have a lot to deal with the Colts/Jets game leading right up to the start of SNL.

Yes, it's the first time I've watched TV in months, and it was totally worth it sitting through all those brainwashing commercials to see Jim Carey, The Black Keys and the SNL crew. They were spot on last night!

  3. 3

Just like when he was in In Living Color. Sweet!

Jim Carey in the "healing conversations" and the amusement park ride sketch was hilarious!! There's a reason why he was considered the best in the business.

I laughed the whole time, Jim is hilarious! It was one of the best shows I've seen of SNL in a long time. Bring him back more often!

I never watch SNL anymore because it's not funny! But last night I watched it for a minute, and was hooked because of Jim Carey! He was hilarious! I didn't even know that it was him at first, but so, so funny!

My favorite was the funhouse sketch! CREEPY! Those muppets are scarry as hell and Jim/other guy were spot on!

Jim Carrey's great, but nothing can elevate SNL from the gutter IMO. What I did see last night was not funny. And Kenan Thompson is totally phoning it in. I don't know what that show needs, but it needs SOMETHING asap.

The Black Swan sketch was a hoot as well as the Soul Train piece, Saturday was a good show.

finally for the first time SNL was funny thanks to Jim Carey and the black keys but more Jim Carey lol…. he should be the writer for the show then maybe ppl would start watching it again :)

Jim isa fucking legend. The othe so called "funny" people bore me to tears. Its his unpredictability, sponteinity and overall rockstar-ness that made me watch it. Jim is the best!

    Re: one_love – ME TOO!!!!!!

The Black Swan sketch was friggin' hilarious!! It reminded me of Vera De Milo off of In Living Color, lol!! I think his second time hosting was much better than his first.

Did people see the same show I did? This show's highlight was the ad for the pubic hair treatment, and that had been shown before. The only other skit that raised a smile was Mayor Bloomberg. Everything else was dire. They seem to have too many actors and too few parts. They should give more to Jason Sudeikis, Nasim Pedrad and Kristen Wiig and completely cut Vanessay Bayer, Paul Britain, Taran Killam and Jay Pharaoh. Bayer and Pharaoh especially are talentless. The show with Paul Rudd was funny, but the last time before that I laughed… I can't remember.

Re: madloverci – Agreed. It wasn't good. I think the best of the season was with De Niro. I actually LOL'd on that one.

Hello, the man killed it on "In Living Color" for years. Of course he was awesome at sketch comedy. It was good to see him funny again!

  17. 17

I tuned in for The Black Keys! I'm guessing they brought in many viewers as well. Only then did i realize Jim Carey was host.

  18. 18

Re: madloverci – Really?? I thought the Rudd episode wasn't that funny. Different strokes I guess…But Jay Pharoah is really good at doing black celebrity impressions. I think that's why they have him on.

Yat every time I watch. hwyw. ym bg 46

  20. 20

    Didn't watch it =( But I want to, & hopefully I will !

  21. 21

Only watched ’cause The Black Keys were on.

  22. 22

not that funny, why was the repeat of the hair job shown again. also had problems with the monologe including the referance to "blood river". kind of tasteless considering the az. situation. and don't tell me they didn't know before taping………….

  23. 23

I normally watch it and am half interested..but this time i really wanted to watch it for him. Some of the things were still cheesy. half the time i am the only person getting the joke amongst my friends because I heard some news that week leading up to the joke. I don't want politics joke i want something actually funny. I miss madtv :(

  24. 24

I watch every week, and I thought this was a funny one. I admit I like stupid humor, so I'm not exactly hard-to-please. I thought the Bloomberg, Black Swan, Soul Train, Tantric Sex and Amusement Park sketches were funny.

  25. 25

I watched! Great segments, everybody was amazing. I love Jim! =)

  26. 26

    Too Funny….Thanks Jim.

  27. 27

Really cheesy, over the top, not funny…. I could go on all day. Maybe the worst of the season. Terrible.

  28. 28

Love Jim Carrey! He is very funny. Very gifted in that area.

  29. 29

it was because of the black keys :) )

I was looking forward to it, but the skits just weren't that good. I was disappointed overall.
