Creationist Science Teacher Fired After BRANDING Image Of The Cross On Students!

| Filed under: Icky Icky Poo

What on Earth?! This is absolutely insane!

An Ohio science teacher has been fired for not only attempting to preach Christian beliefs to his classes, but for taking it even further by using a scientific device to BURN the image of a cross into his students' arms!

Holy shiz!

The Mount Vernon school board reportedly attempted to have him dismissed after complaints that John Freshwater kept a Bible on his desk, but for some crazy reason he was able to successfully appeal the ruling.

However, after news came to light about the cross burnings, the school board accepted a state official's recommendation to terminate him last night, effective at midnight.

Unbelievable. So many layers of absolutely unbelievable.

What makes anyone think that they have any business forcing their beliefs on anyone else, let alone taking advantage of their position as an authoritarian and forcing young students to listen to it?!

We're not even going to TOUCH the fact that essentially branded kids!

That man should not be allowed ANYWHERE near children, let alone work again as a teacher!

    Hasn't this happened before?

  2. 2

The real shitty part, perez. You didn't read everything about it. You just read what you THOUGHT was the truth. Research this some more….

  3. 3

BRANDING & PREACHING to the kids in a science class is 100% WRONG!! But, Perez, why is it so wrong that he had a Bible on his desk? Doing this at school is not the place or time to do this but what does it matter if he has it on or in his desk? I'm just curious…

  4. 4

I don't understand why anyone feels the need to teach creationism in a science class! Teach what is in the science book and get over your personal beliefs. If you're so obsessed with teaching creationism, sign up to be a Sunday school teacher. Religion has no place in public school, unless it's in a world religions or world cultures class, which most public school don't have the funding to teach.

  5. 5

This is exactly the reason why all Christians, Catholics (and anyone else that follows a religion) should be locked away behind bars until they stop being so deluded.

  6. 6

What makes anyone think that they have any business forcing their beliefs on anyone else,?? Perez you do it every single day. The other day about Canada not allowing gay straight alliances in CATHOLIC school…your asking people to give up everything they believe in because it doesn't suit you…life doesn't work that way thank god….people should be entitled to their opinions…by trying to FORCE people to believe the same as you…you are only looking overbearing…and people tend to get just alittle defensive…how are you going to get you point across…if people have already shut you out.?

  7. 7

I think you mean 'as an authority figure', 'authoritarian' means something a bit different. I totally agree though, this is horrific. Creationism should be taught in religious studies class not science class anyway.

  8. 8

I see no reason whatsoever why the man shouldn't be allowed to have a bible in his drawer. If other teachers can have non-school related books of their choice in their desks, then he should be able to do the same. If what you have reported is 100% true, then yes, he appears to be a nutball because he is branding students and teaching something he shouldn't be teaching. However, I don't see that the bible in his desk has anything to do with anything. I am a liberal thru and thru but the demonism of anyone who dares have Christian beliefs is becoming ridiculous. I am pro equality, pro choice, pro gay marriage….but I am also an ardent Christian and looking back, I am overjoyed that I was able to attend a public school where people didn't admonish others for their beliefs. You say how upset you are that he is trying to force his views on others, but those who demand that he should not be allowed to have a bible in his desk are doing the EXACT same thing to him.

AGAIN, I do believe he is a whackadoo if he truly did brand his students. But, your anger over his simply having Christian beliefs is rude and annoying.

  9. 9

How exactly does a teacher forcefully brand a student? He would have to have help holding a student down and then branding him or her. I find it hard to believe he actually "branded" anyone! Or, this person wanted to be.

A bible on the desk is NOT illegal nor is it inappropriate.

  10. 10

Doesn't the liberal agenda that you love so much try to force it's beliefs on people everyday???? Hypocrite.

  11. 11

Re: Gagalicious_x – riiiiiight, and you as the atheist here says religious persons are deluded? Aren't you quite the bigoted one. Wow, talk about shoving YOUR opinion up anyone else's ***.

  12. 12

Ok this is what I heard about this whole story…
This family who "claims" that this teacher burnt a cross on his arm did this in California before to another teacher…
The night this supposedly happened he was able to play hockey, his best friend testified and he didn't complain about it…
Also, it is not a cross, it is a X, I did the same thing in High School..
The Mount Vernon School Board never had any record of this before.
This family wants money…so sad that they would do this to a teacher that didn't do anything.

  13. 13

this is sad and all, but this is way back from 2008… perez do much research on current topics?

  14. 14

Re: pookiebear79 – Yeah, I wasn't sure what the outrage over the bible on the desk was about. I'm an athiest but that alone wouldn't bother me. No more than someone keeping a bottle of water on their desk.

  15. kyky says – reply to this

The man absolutely has the right to have a bible on his desk, the branding of the kids is out of this world. You attempt to constantly force your opinion about gay rights. How is this ANY different than someone forcing their opinion about their religion. Your thinking is somewhat backwards Perez.

  16. 16

I actually live in Mount Vernon. All religious beliefs aside……the mark was made during a science experiment, there was no accident report ever filed, that alone should be grounds for termination.

  17. 17

Re: Kris4444Re: Kris4444 – It's wrong to have a bible on the desk because everyone has different beliefs. When and if you enter a real profession, it's very encouraged to keep your personal beliefs personal :)

  18. 18

Re: Jaidstone – Amen to that!! Thats EXACTLY what I thought when I read the statement….He does it everyday with the whole gay thing…we get it Perez your gay. Perhaps if it is true, this teacher felt as passionate about his religious as you do about taking it in the rear. You of all Perez shouldn't judge about this at all…

  19. 19

you are such a hypocrite i remember an incident with a certain beauty queen that you bashed nonstop for her voicing her OWN opinion and beliefs and here you are yet again bashing basically all of the christians because we dont share the same beliefs as you, your always going to get a bad apple in the bush so dont judge us all together, personally i feel offended that you seem to think because your gay you have to shove it down everyones throats on a daily basis i don't go around screaming to the world im straight, if you want people to respect you and treat you equally then start acting like a grown up and not some 13 year old girl

  20. 20

Re: Jaidstone – A lot of people actually agree with him on this issue and they're not gay.

  21. 21

Wow I never expected so many people to be attacking Perez for posting a story where you should be horrified at the TEACHER. Obviously this guy is a wacko to the creationist extreme. But even having the bible on his desk is wrong. It is a public school which is supposed to keep religion out of it. If he would have kept it there and never even referred to it, it still is inappropriate. Its i like having a big stack of porno on his desk even if he's not reading it it still shouldnt be there.

  22. 22

    What a lunatic.

  23. 23

    Re: Gagalicious_x

Please don't lump all Christians together with nuts like these.

  24. 24

    Re: PerezSux54

No. Actually we don't. It's usually the "Christian" fundamentalists who do this.

  25. 25

    THIS IS FROM 2008
WTF are you doing reporting it now
    - p.s. the "brand" lasted 3 weeks - it shouldn't have happened at all but still

  26. 26

I hope Christian kids get bullied for their beliefs and wake up to how dumb it all is.

    Just kidding!

    (But not really)

  27. 27

Something seems off about this to me. The teacher branded a kid, and the kid sat there and let him do it? I mean, I know I don't know the full story nor was I there to see how it happened, but that's a pretty big, precise brand. There's no signs that the kid even made an attempt to get away.
And for all these people saying he shouldn't have a bible on his desk because it's a personal belief, can you tell me when we became a country that was so concerned about what people think of us? Aren't we a country that has been known to stand up for what we believe in? You're right, as a public school teacher in today's world, he shouldn't have been talking about creationism IF he was being forceful of his belief's upon the students. However, a bible on his desk shouldn't be offenseive to people, and if they do find it offensive, then they need to realize that the world doesn't revolve around them. If Christians are constantly told to be tolerant of other religions, I want the same respect. I'm not asking for anything outrageous, I'm asking for what's FAIR. If this man wants a bible on his desk, he can have a bible on his desk, ffs.

  28. 28

A couple things I want to say about this.
One, Why are all of you guys taking digs at Perez and not the story? Calling him a hypocrite and calling out him out for being gay? Really guys, why log onto his website and read the stuff? I don't think Perez is wrong at all, or a hypocrite. Because of how he preaches the gay rights. Well you know what i say, GOOD FOR HIM! someone needs to do it. I thank Perez because of his love for the gay community, and its fighting for EQUAL RIGHTS people. so its different.
Now that i have vented about that lets get to the story.
Now I am an atheist, i think all that religious stuff is bull, but i don't want to offend anyone so will try and keep myself in line. If one of my teachers had a bible on the desk, would i be offended, yes i would. I get very offended about that kind of stuff. i don't want it anywhere near me. The bible is not the place for a public school. and the fact that he was preaching things out of the bible, if my child was in the class, i would have thrown a fit. that is outrageous and out of control. and branding children? what a great christian you are sir. no in fact you are quite delusional. this whole situation is messed up. but my thing is i feel that , and no offense to anyone, but i feel like Christians take things too far. not everyone believes what they believe and they need to stop trying to force it down peoples throats, it just makes them and everything they stand for look dumb.

  29. 29

PS- I see that trip to Jerusalem that meant so much to you, Perez, didn't actually do a thing if you can't even understand a BIBLE on a desk.

  30. 30

Re: kyky – Hmm, let me think: Because religion is a CHOICE! Sexual orientation is not. That's the diff!

  31. 31

Re: Rubber Rat – Umm, no, it's a known fact that Liberals are nasty, loud mouths. I'm an independent and have srong beliefs toward both parties, but yes, absolutely Liberals are dominated by the loud. When it comes to forcing their beliefs down people's throats, Christians are bad about it, but Liberals absolutely take the cake for 1) Being loud and, 2) Being little cry babies when they don't get their way. For how many Liberals will comment back to me and tell me I'm wrong will only prove I'm right.

  32. 32

Why is the bible being on the teacher's personal desk an issue? For those of you arguing this…are you offended when you see someone walking on a sidewalk, carrying a bible, and minding their own business? Should other people who share different beliefs as you be offended when you have a possession representing your beliefs? I hope not. Those of you who think religion should be left out of public school are wrong! I'm not talking about converting students but educating them on all religions! I have been in college science classes who have mentioned the idea of creation along with every other possible idea of how the world was created. Its about giving the students all possible information and letting them decided for themselves what they believe. That's how advancement comes about. One of the best classes I ever took was a World Civ class that spent a portion of the time discussing world religions. This gives students an understanding of other cultures and an insight of to why they feel the way they do. Definitely something future leaders need. Finally, you should not base your opinion on any religion's extremist. Learn to be respectful and tolerant.

  33. 33

Re: Gagalicious_x – I'm going to say a prayer for you.

  34. 34

    Re: corriedude

I believe there are nasty loud-mouths on both sides of politics. I'll just leave it at that. :)

  35. 35

Anyone who is fanatical about anything, including religion, is mentally unbalanced. Religious superstition should have no place in schools where it is often forced on ALL students. Teach your religion at home or in your church, temple, mosque, or cult hangout.

  36. 36

Re: Rubber Rat – Oh no, I absolutely agree with you. Republicans have loud mouths, too. Anne Couture, John McCain, Bill O'Reilly (althought he claims to be an independent, come on.) You're very right, Republicans are not exempt from that, I was just saying that there are more Liberals than Republicans that are loud mouths.

  37. 37

Re: LB8040 – That was perfect. It's not about religion it's about respect.

  38. 38

Why can't he have a bible at his desk!?!? Also, as Christians, we are taught to try to teach God's word when we can - not FORCE it on anyone. Obviously this guy took it a little too far with the branding and what not. And last time I checked this country allowed both freedom of speech and freedom of religion. And to judge like you have done makes you no better than those who judge gays, and other groups.

  39. 39

I think it's ridiculous to believe students allowed this guy to brand them…don't believe it, there's got to be more to the story. Boy oh boy Perez, you are so hypocritical! For years you have forced us to listen to your gay agenda and how your way is the right way but you fail to see how you hate it when others try to do the same. I respect you as a celebrity blogger and I have been visiting your site for years because you have the best most up to the minute news on all things Hollywood but somewhere along the way you have changed. If I want the news I have to sit thru blog upon blog of gay right issues and Lady Gaga praise. I think you have a responsibility as a successful blogger to remain neutral on political and religious topics and go back to reporting the celebrity news…isn't that why you started this blog in the first place? This site isn't fun anymore but I continue to tune in for the celebrity gossip…can we get back to what Perez Hilton the site is supposed to be about?

  40. 40

A lot of you beat me to it, but there's NOTHING wrong with him having a Bible on his desk and that's why it was dismissed. Teachers use other religious books as literature and guess what. Its not against the law to use the Bible as literature either. Funny thing is Perez wants gay issues to be taught in school, but not things taught in the Bible. Hypocrite much?

About him branding his students…if that is true, then yes, that's nuts.

  41. 41

Re: bretticus21 – sorry but I have to disagree. your argument makes no sense as by having the bible in/on his desk or even reading it to himself between classes, during breaks or even while his students are taking a test does not in any way impose his beliefs on the students or create an atmosphere in which they are being told "this is a CHRISTIAN classroom" in the same way that hanging a large cross or crucifix or bible quotations would do.

  42. 42

Why are you blaming the teacher? Why aren't you blaming Canada?!?!

  43. 43

    Re: checkyourfactsplease
Wow check yourfacts is right!!! I know the family involved and what you are saying is completely false!!! So you need to check your facts!

  44. 44

"What makes anyone think that they have any business forcing their beliefs on anyone else" Like you, for instance?

  45. 45

    1) Crazy teacher for branding his students…weird. However:
I want to say that it's absolutely hypocritical for people to bash and hate on Christians for "forcing" people to believe what they believe. A) Not all Christians act that way…if you're slurring all Christians together as people who are awful and insane, then, by that regard, you think that all Muslims are terrorists. And, therefore, you've lost all credibility, you racist scum.
    B) I don't know ANY Christians, Jew or Muslims…or, for that matter, any person of religion, stating that people who are openly gay or lesbian are forcing their beliefs on them. So…why does a person carrying a bible mean that they're forcing their beliefs and opinions on you? Or, for that matter, if I wear a kippah, does that mean I'm forcing you to listen to my rantings about being a Jew?

You all speak so openly and freely about treating other people equally and that people are free to live as they wish…don't be one-sided! If I want to wear a star of David or if I want to carry a bible, that's a right I have! I'm not forcing you become what it is I am! I would never think that a gay couple kissing would be them preaching to me. COME ON.

So everyone with your hateful comments, grow up and clear your head.

  46. 46

This was the same case that came up a year or two ago, but the teacher's investigation just finished and he was terminated this January. So the report is technically up-to-date, but we've heard about the events before.

Anyway, there's WAY more to it than is in this post. The administration told him to remove the bible from plain sight (he would have been free to keep it IN his desk), but the problem was that he was preaching to his classes. He would use bible verses to lead them to doubt evolution, would encourage them to pray, gave extra credit if they saw an intelligent design movie, etc. It was even alleged that he told his EIGHTH GRADE CLASS that homosexuality was a sin and choice.

The 9th grade science teachers said they had to spend their year teaching the 8th grade curriculum, which he was not covering (or not doing so correctly).

The Tesla Coil (the device he used to burn the students) was just icing on the cake. Now, he alleged that it was a demonstration and the mark was an X, not a cross, but I think he's missed the real problem here. Even if he wasn't branding them with crosses, he was BRANDING them, using a machine that explicitly states that it's electric current should never come in contact with skin.

I would have fired the guy years ago.

  47. 47

"What makes anyone think that they have any business forcing their beliefs on anyone else" BuaAHUAHAHAHAHAHALOLHAHAHALOLOLOL

Thats all perez does is push gay issues on us and shoves gay rights down our throats thats funny

  48. 48

    lol religion

  49. 49

Once again, your hypocrisy is showing. I'm willing to bet that a large portion of your income comes from your posts about gay rights, DADT, gay marriage, etc - so when it comes to making it your business to force your "beliefs on anyone else, let alone taking advantage of their position as an authoritarian and forcing young students to listen to it?!" you take the cake. Let's not forget that you have done a major disservice to members of your own community by forcefully outing them through this website. This new leaf that you supposedly turned after all those gay kids committed suicide due to the bullying they endured doesn't make a difference - and comes a little too late for those kids, and the celebrities you BULLIED into coming out of the closet before they were ready to do it themselves. And you have the nerve to villify this person for spreading his beliefs just because you don't happen to agree with them?

Listen, I don't have anything against the gay community. As far as I'm concerned, I don't care if you get married, get divorced, adopt kids, fight in the military, stay in the closet, come out of the closet - whatever. I'm just sick and tired of you - as in YOU, Perez (and Lady Gaga) - pushing your agenda down my throat and being all hypoocrital about it. How are you any different from the man in the above story?

  50. 50

Perez, you are a hypocrite. You preach tolerance yet you have none. Why can't students learn both THEORIES and decide which is the truth? I believe there is much better odds that someone created this earth than a bang that led us to where we are now- and I have a college degree. Besides, if there is no God then what is the purpose of life? There is none.

  51. 51

i am truly amazed that someone as inspirational like you perez, someone who PREACHS tolerence, can have such LITTLE tolerence. It truly breaks my heart. I am a christian and i have a gay brother. I love and accept him for who he is. Now why cant you accept my beliefs?????

  52. 52

seriously anyone is allowed to have a Bible on their desk. if he actually did brand them and force his beliefs on them that is awful. but having a Bible on your desk should NOT be a reason to fire a person. and I have no idea why you think it would be a reason to.

  53. 53

This truly saddens me. For someone who is so inspirational like you Perze someone that i look up to have so LITTLE tolerence for christians. For someone who PREACHS tolerence you have shown little. I am a christian and we dont always share the same opinions on things but i respect you. I have a gay brother and i love and accept him for who he is. WHY CANT YOU DO THE SAME??? If i want to carry around a Bible i sure as hell will. Who are you to tell i can`t?? That would be UNCONSTITUTIONAL!

  54. 54

    You say
"What makes anyone think that they have any business forcing their beliefs on anyone else…"

  55. 55

Before I even READ the comments… you have a lot of nerve writing THIS sentence… "What makes anyone think that they have any business forcing their beliefs on anyone else…" Excuse me? Did I not just read a story about H. Clinton and how she was wrong for believing something YOU don't? I cannot believe you sometimes. Deplorable and hypocritical.

  56. 56

If you're a creationist… THEN WHY ARE YOU TEACHING A SCIENCE CLASS!?!?!
Nothing wrong with him keeping a bible on his desk. Everything wrong with the branding of students and preaching during a SCIENCE CLASS.

If he wanted to preach, do a Creationist class or work for a Christian school.

Is it that fucking hard!? *face palms*

  57. 57

Ok. A lot of you are saying it's inappropriate to have a Bible on his desk bc many people disagree with what is in said Bible. So, by that logic, any teacher that has ANY opposition to ANY belief they may hold (ie - things such as DADT, abortion, animal rights..etc) should be publicly bashed and not allowed to teach in a school? Bc that's what I'm reading. Also, by the same logic, then every single teacher or student shouldn't be able to wear jewelry representing the cross - bc, you know, little Timmy is offended. For as much as everyone is crying, you only hear those cries when Christians do something - however, I hardly (not going to say never) hear those Christians whining that they have certain rights taken away. Last I checked, there was still freedom of religion and as far as a Bible on a desk, he's constitutionally allowed that. The thing that bothers me the MOST is evolution is NOT proven. It's a THEORY. Just like creationism is a theory. I personally believe that we should be taught ALL theories and decide for OURSELVES. And as far as "Oh, let's teach what's in the SCIENCE BOOKS…" argument - go read 1984 by George Orwell, like it or not - they can publish anything as fact if they REALLY wanted to (not saying they do, just that it's possible). By giving students all the options - it lets them exercise their thinking power.

  58. 58

Re: Gagalicious_x – –Not all Christians believe in recruitment much less branding. There are nutbars in every facet of life. I suspect this guy has some sort of mental illness thus causing him to act in such a zealous way.

  59. 59

If this is true, it is deplorable. Everyone is entitled to their opinions and religious beliefs, and of course there is nothing wrong with having a bible in or on his desk. However, he should be fired for simply teaching creationism in a public school science class. As much as creationists want it to be, it is not science, nor is it separation of church and state. Even if the family is trying to get money and the branding part isn't true (as some people here have asserted), nobody should be forced to learn about creationism in a public school. If he wants to teach in a catholic or private school that believes in it, that is his right, but those beliefs have no place in a science class in public school, any more than evolution belongs in the bible.

  60. 60

"What makes anyone think that they have any business forcing their beliefs on anyone else"

Um homo boy, don't you do that every day on this blog regarding gay issues? No wonder everyone hates your meth addicted ass…

  61. 61

The branding is a bit much and if he did it he should be reprimanded for it, but I don't see anything wrong with the guy having a bible on his desk.

  62. 62

Seriously, Perez. You are sitting here saying 'What makes anyone think that they have any business forcing their beliefs on anyone else.' You sure don't seem to mind pushing your opinion about gay rights to anyone who will listen, but you are really going to get an attitude toward this guy because he chooses to keep a Bible on his desk? Wow. How hypocritical are you?

  63. 63

science belongs in a science class, religious theories belong in a religion class, it really is that clean cut it's not even up for debate

  64. 64

Re: Gagalicious_x – catholics are christians, they are the original christians…

  65. 65

"What makes anyone think that they have any business forcing their beliefs on anyone else, let alone taking advantage of their position as an authoritarian"

  66. 66

Re: pookiebear79 – Christians are rude and annoying :)

  67. 67

Re: avenger – the difference is you dont have to come to his site and read his posts, those kids had to go to school

  68. 68

I completely agree that there should be no branding of students, and no forcing your religion on others. However; I am sick and tired of all Christians being placed in the crazy catagory. The schools teach about Evolution, which to my knowledge, HAS NEVER BEEN TRULY PROVEN EITHER, yet no one seems to have a problem with those books being on teachers desks. There a nut cakes in every religion, yet it seems as though you really only like to point out the "crazy Christians" perez!!

  69. 69

LOL i was so into what you were saying Perez until you said "what makes anyone think they can force their beliefs on someone else.." lol you do that all the time! Don't be a hypocrite..
but yea this story is fucking crazy.. geez should have done more then get fired that's for sure..

  70. 70

HYPOCRITE!!!! You try to force your gay beliefs on everyone. You're no different.

  71. 71

"What makes anyone think that they have any business forcing their beliefs on anyone else, let alone taking advantage of their position as an authoritarian and forcing young students to listen to it?!"

    - Perez but this is what you do every day when someone doesn't believe your same beliefs on homosexuality!

I just want to say that I am 100% against what this teacher did and I also am 100% ok with homosexuality. I truely don't try and push my beliefs on others! Maybe you should practice what you preach . . . . .

ok now I 100% don't agree with this and I also want to say that I am 100% ok with people being gay.

  72. 72

Re: Jaidstone – aplogies to anyone who's responded to you before, but the problem with the catholic school board doing this in Canada, is that it accepts public tax dollars as part of their funding, therefore HAS to follow the same rules as the public school system. Same thing happened when the catholic school board some years ago, tried to prevent a boy from bringing a boy as his date to the prom.

  73. @v@ says – reply to this

I somehow doubt the validity of this tale, and think that looks quite like more of an angsty adolescent thing to do. As if a teacher wouldn't know it would cost them their livelihood. Teens can be rotten, not to say that the odd teacher can't be as well.

  74. 74

This website is unreal. I can't believe there are actually people who think a Bible on a desk is somehow damaging to students. I too am against teachers pushing personal beliefs on students, but now we should deny the fact that teachers even HAVE personal beliefs???

Perez, by the way, is the very definition of bigoted. Go ahead, look it up. The saving grace of this website is the fact that at least half the comments seem to be from people as shocked and amused as myself.

Everyone else, please get over yourselves. You would be OFFENDED by seeing a Bible on a desk? Then you probably should have crawled out from under your rock sooner, dearie, because PEOPLE HAVE DIFFERENT BELIEFS. Despite what you may so desperately desire, and this goes for Christians and non alike: you can't force people to think just like you, so you can either spend your life full of hate, or accept people and try to be kind to them. That's the point that this website misses. Misses by far.

(I'm not really going to comment on the alleged branding, because I think everyone can agree that you just don't do that to people unless you're seriously disturbed.)

I'm a Christian who believes in Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior AND I'm a Christian who believes that gay people should have the exact same rights as straight people, ESPECIALLY where it comes to marraige! That being said, it's SO OFFENSIVE to hear all these people come on here and post about how Christians are "delusional" or that we're somehow less than an athiest because we have the ability to believe in a power greater than ourselves. I couldn't imagine a life where I had to exist without knowing that there is SOMEONE out there that is always there for me, always wants the best for me, always guiding me. Jesus Christ is INCREDIBLE. He is the best thing that has ever happened to me, and He's the best thing that could ever happen to you. Even if you choose not to believe in Him, that's okay because it doesn't stop Him from existing. All I'm asking that you don't put me down because I'm able to bow down to the best Person I've ever had the opportunity of knowing. God is incredible, and just because you don't believe in Him doesn't mean I shouldn't. Accept everyone just the way they are, and the same respect will be given back to you.

Didn't Harvey Milk debate and win when the religious right (Anita Bryant, et al) tried to take away the rights of Gays in the teaching, professional world? Guess the religious right is trying other tactics. Pretty sneaky.
O.T. I once had a high school Art teacher that used to page me on the 6th period intercom (daily). People got the impression that we were Gay, but he was trying to convert me to LDS.

Re: Gagalicious_x – Perhaps you should too for thinking we're all the same. You're just as ignorant.

Re: ssreading – Hear, hear. Well said.
I am sick and tired of Christians being the whipping posts for everyone who has an agenda. Who cares if he had a bible? If it was a copy of the torah, or the koran, would that be okay? I am sure if he had a koran, HE would be able to claim discrimination! But because it's a bible, all the people who have nothing better to do jump on the protest bandwagon.
All the people who cry foul about having opinions "forced" on them are the very people who are the most vocal about their opinions and why they are right and everyone else is wrong.

I am religious dont get me wrong, but its people like that that gives us a bad name! Everyone is entitled to their own beliefs and no one has any right to force their beliefs on anyone else.

Why is everyone angry at Perez here? IS NO ONE SEEING WHAT THIS TEACHER DID? Perez tells us about his beliefs and opinions because most of us are old enough to make up our own minds and I hope that most of you are mature enough to be able to accept other people's. However, a teacher branding a student and pushing his beliefs in a situation where it is no appropriate is a completely different thing.

I thought this was a celebrity gossip blog. Not Perez's view on news…make another blog for that please.
I like ya Perez…but some of our views just don't mesh…

"What makes anyone think that they have any business forcing their beliefs on anyone else, let alone taking advantage of their position as an authoritarian and forcing young students to listen to it?!" — oh, you mean what makes anyone think they can act like you ? enough with the hypocrisy, it's becoming more than ridiculous ..
