Once Is Coming To Broadway!

| Filed under: Music MinuteBroadway BabiesFilm Flickers

Amazing! We always thought this movie would translate well to the stage!

The lovely 2007 indie romance Once - which tells the story of a broken-hearted Irish Busker and young immigrant who connect romantically through the music create together - is currently being adapted into a Broadway production!

Producers John N. Hart Jr., Jeff Sine and Fred Zollo, who bought the live theater rights to the film back in 2008, have announced that Irish playwright Enda Walsh will adapt the script of the John Carney film for stage, and director John Tiffany expects to have it ready for a fall of 2011 premiere!

Wow! We cannot wait to see how this ends up looking!

The simplicity of the film, combined with the amazing performances and beautiful music, really proves how just a little authenticity can elicit a powerful emotional reaction from an audience, so hopefully lightning will strike twice with the stage version!

What do U think?? Do U want to see the Once musical??

Oooh, I just recently discovered this movie and love it! I hope they don't screw up the premise or the music!

I remember when you made fun of 'Falling Slowly'.
I loved Glen Hansard since the Commitments, and loved this pic, and its music. He was so classy at the Oscars.
I hope Hansard gets some $$ out of it from music royalties: he and his bandmates deserve it.

It would be nice if for ONCE, Broadway came up with some fresh ideas rather than rehashing movies.
