Wowza! You go, Emmy Rossum!

The Americanized version of the British series Shameless premiered on Sunday and after reviewing the ratings, the show is now ranked as Showtime's highest rated drama in seven years. The premiere episode garnered 982,000 total viewers.

The night was good all around for the network. Californication had its best season opener ever, with 848,000 viewers, which in turn provided a strong lead-in for Matt LeBlanc's return to TV in the new show Episodes, which premiered to 768,000 viewers.

Solid!

Ya because showtime was smart and let every one have SHOWTIME FREE for the weekend.

  2. 2

    NO is not !
The showtime biggest rated was Dexter in December 13, 2009 with 2.6 million viewers! ;)

I think i'm going to like this show Emmy rossum Is a good actress.

Will never be better than the English version. David Threlfall just owns Frank Gallagher, also, even if this is being shown on SHowtime it will never be the same as the UK counterpart.

I'm not against this show being remade because I can see this show being an American version too but the amount of remakes of Brittish shows lately is ridiculous.. there is just no way that The Inbetweeners is going to work over there.. you just cannot substitute the word clunge.

Re: Sharada – that comment is toooo true..

none of these shows will ever be as good as the british versions.. americans dont have council estates like we do and they certainly dont have anybody like frank gallagher there let alone any of the rest of the cast.. they have trailer trash.. it just wouldnt be the same.. BRITISH=HARDCORE!!
    AMERICANS=SOFTCORE
its just the way it is.. were allowed to put more explicit things on tv than americans..
i think im speaking for the whole of the british teeanage race when i say i would rather claw my own eyes out than see the inbetweeners be remade into and american cash cow

I saw the episode and it was not good. They have done a really poor job of trying to copy the British version. They should have just brought the rights to the original, maybe it would have done something for the stereotype that all Brits live in castles and drink tea.

Oddly enough I think the American version of Shameless had more charm than its English counterpart (Which is rare). All three shows were great and I even found myself enjoying Episodes. I went in to that show thinking I was going to hate it. Very strong lineup for Showtime.

Didn't see it and I LOVE Bill Macy! BUT I LOVE the British version so much I cannot conceive how the American version would live upto (or down to) its standards.

Wtf. skins and shameless? Can't american script writers come up with anything any more?!

  11. 11

William H. Macy was a bit of an obvious choice. I mean, can you name a movie where he didn't play a total loser?

  12. 12

I watch the UK one WTF do I need to watch this for. From the trailer it looks like they just refilmed it with American actors. Shitty.

  13. 13

Well fortunately for most Americans, we haven't seen the British version. I LOVED this show so much that I recorded it and watched it twice! Fantastic line-up.

  14. 14

i thought it was pretty good, ill probably keep watching it.

  15. 15

american shameless? what a load of shit, ill take the original this week on channel four thanks

  16. 16

UK Shameless is so much better. The original Frank Gallagher is a much better actor. This comment is coming from an American, who has watched all the Shameless episodes for the past 8 seasons.

  17. 17

It will never be as good as the UK version, your censorship is so rigid on tv, Frank swears every third word!!

  18. 18

That number was only Showtime subscribers and had nothing to do with the open weekend.

  19. 19

To Isaac Martinex–Those numbers put out by Showtime only include subscribers. It had nothing to do with the free weekend.

  20. 20

all this UK vs. US shit is almost making me wanna see american skins. yes, the original tends to better, and i will always think UK skins beats US skins. but get over your "my country is better than yours," anti-american crap.

Re: Safiyah*** – we have council projects in america; we call them "the projects." AKA public housing in the ghetto. so congrats, you have ghettos and hardcore TV sex.
