Chik-Fil-A President Responds To Anti-Gay Controversy

| Filed under: Icky Icky PooGay Gay Gay

Wow! We didn't know that all meals from Chik-Fil-A came with a complimentary side of bullshit!

In light of the controversy currently surrounding the fast-food chain because one of their stores donated food to the Pennsylvania Family Institute 'Art of Marriage' Conference - which is an organization that actively is trying to ban gay marriage - the company's President, Dan Cathy, recorded the following message as a response (above)!

Just lovely, right?

Because although he wants you to know that their donation is "not an endorsement of the mission, political stance, or motives of this or any other organization," "marriage has long been a focus of Chick-Fil-A!"

Awesome! And what kind of marriage is that, bb?

Maybe you guys can donate some food the next time a Gay Rights organization holds a conference or a rally!

I love how liberals just HATE it when conservatives exercise their constitutional rights.

  2. 2

I hate how the gay community has gone all Nazi. I'm sure they'd have no problem donating food to a pro gay marriage organization. This is ridiculous. We, as a community need to stop over analyzing and reading into every last detail. It won't serve us any good to do so.

  3. 3

Believe it or not, not every organization or company is going to adhere to the same policies and beliefs as others. Chik-Fil-A is also closed on Sundays, it's no secret that they are religiously motivated. Ultimately not supporting gay rights is only going to hurt them as a company and cost them business. People will vote with their wallets in deciding whether or not this is something THEY tolerate in the companies they choose to spend money on.

  4. 4

Maybe you can get a petition started to have the servers there ask if the customer is pro or against gay marriage and if they don't get the answer YOU prefer they should not serve them.

Get real Mario. The man owns the company. He can donate food to whomever he chooses. If you don't agree, don't eat there. Simple right?

  5. 5

But Perez didn't say he would stop eating there though…..lol

  6. 6

Don't you ever learn Perez? This is a PRIVATE institution. They can donate to whoever they want. It's THEIR money. Would YOU donate YOUR money to the Catholic church or any other faith-based group? That's what I thought…

  7. 7

I'm gay and figure Chik-Fil-A can do whatever they want. I've known about their conservative stance for many years. I simply do not eat/spend my money at their fast food joints.

  8. 8

Don't you ever learn Perez? This is a PRIVATE institution. They can donate to whoever they want. It's THEIR money. Would YOU donate YOUR money to the Catholic church or any other faith-based group? That's what I thought… I'm not against gay movement rights. I think we are all EQUAL. Get it? E.Q.U.A.L. Don't you dare tell me who I can support with my money and who I can't.

  9. 9

I don't understand what the outrage is all about. Chik-Fil-A has always been a Christian based operation. They are closed on Sundays for Pete's sake. And you know what? Because they are a private company, they are allowed to do as they please. It's ok if it upsets you, just don't eat there. It's really not the end of the worls Perez. I am Christian, but I support gay marriage. Therefore it irks me, so I choose not to eat there even though I love it. But, if other Christians feel differently and wish to support them by giving them their business, that is fine too. This is America Perez. You claim to want equality. But with equality means respecting other's rights to their own beliefs as well as you to your own. You seem to just want everyone to do what you want them to do, but that's not how freedom works. Freedom is a give and take. Freedom is allowing everyone to have their own opinions and beliefs, not making everyone conform to one set of beliefs.

  10. 10

Chik-Fil-A is a Christian company perez. You are a dumbass. They have the right to their opinions! Not supporting gay rights, isn't going to hurt their business. I completely!!!! agree that every man and woman should be able to make the decisions they want to make, that means gay and straight. I support gay people. I have no probably whatsoever with their lifestyle. But I also think everyone's entitled to an opinion.

  11. 11

How dare he run his own business by his standards. Doesn't he know that you have to run it by the gay community and perez first. The nerve of him not rallying for the gays. Get a grip

  12. 12

Their choice, just like its your choice if you want to donate money to pro gay marriage organizations. Its my choice to continue to eat there cause I like the food and the staff is always overly friendly.

Perez I truly hope one day you realize how hyprocritical you are.

  13. 13

    GOOD FOR CHIK-FIL-A !!

  14. 14

Go Chik-Fil-a!!! Love this company and what it stands for!

  15. 15

I think that the whole thing has been blown out of proportion. Just because a single Chick Fil A has chosen to donate food to an organization does not mean that it believes in every stance that organization has. I'm sure that the organization has other beliefs that are not as discriminatory as the anti-gay marriage stance. Also Chick Fil A does so many great things for the communities that it is in, I would hate to forget that just because of this one thing. Chick Fil A has a summer camp for that is used for kids during the summer and school groups during the fall, it has college scholarship opportunities for its employees, and I have taken the opportunity multiple times to use Chick Fil A's Spirit Night to raise money for charities that are important to me. Plenty of people have beliefs that are different from Chick Fil A, but I'm sure you can agree that for such a large organization Chick Fil A has still managed to be a positive influence in the local and business community.

  16. 16

If you don't like it then don't eat there. Personally, I will start eating there more often just to piss you off. They have been expanding for years. Obviously not a lot of people have a problem with them.

  17. 17

I am really upset. I went to a bath house the other day and dame it there wasn't One straight women there. What the hell, You gays take over all the bath houses and I'm sick of it. I wanted to puta rainbow up in my front yard and everyoe thought I was gay. Why do you gays get the rainbow, that's not right . talk about equality. Go fuck yourselves complaining homo.

  18. 18

Again, this is you creating more homophobes. They donated to a cause, so fucking what. Happens all the time in the hedero world, where someone donates to something that we don't agree with. Big difference here is, as a homo, you are trying to bully people into special treatment. Fuck off, you are an idiot. It's their money, and as americans, they can do as they please with it.

  19. 19

Re: Rubber Rat – And you sir/maam are preventing homophobia. Thank you for being real and honest. I am straight, and would not support an anti gay establishment but as you said, we chose to go or not. This is life, and we all have choices. Thank you again for your open mindedness and candor.

  20. 20

If you don't like it don't eat there.

  21. 21

I would love to have a Chik-Fil-A in New York City.

  22. 22

Why can't those that are gay just be gay and live normally. The only people that draws negative attention to gay people is gay people. You don't see straight people holding a straight rally or a straight day parade. Why is this? Because being straight is normal. IF being gay in your eyes is a normal lifestyle then just live it without trying to draw attention from everyone else in the world. Every organization has their view and opinion about everything but it doesn't make them evil. Believe it or not even Perez says things that are offensive to many people but people still visit his site. By the way, Chic Fil A still has better tasting food than 90% of other fast food restaurants.

  23. 23

GET OVER IT!!! so they donated some food. It's their right. They are a Christian based restaurant.

  24. 24

The food at Chick-fil-a is AMAZING and the service is fantastic.

  25. 25

How DARE you try to dictate how a company owner should spend his funds. That is simply shameful. If you do not agree with a company's policies, do not give them your business. The end.

  26. 26

I'm sorry to burst your bubble perez.. but not everyone is going to jump on the "I support gays band wagon" and you are just going to have to accept that. private money, private opinons and people are entitled to think as they please whether you like it or not. How about that!

  27. 27

You people don't understand. I'm not gay,as you can see and hear. 80% of gay man have to draw attention to themselves one way or anther. From putting on the fem voice, to the clothes. SO WHAT YOU ARE GAY! Most people don't care!! Stop pushing it into our faces. You bitch about McDonalds Chik Fil a. Tell ya what homos go open an ALL GAY fast food place. Watch what you want on the internet, donate to all gay charities. Just shut the FUCK UP already

  28. 28

Re: MackAdocious – lets be honest.. when going to a fast food joint to grab a quick burger and sandwich do you think people are really giving a flying fk abt the political and other standings represented by a company..no they just want to get their food and be on their way. i HIGHLY doubt they will be losing big money over this.. LMAO.

  29. 29

So what if they don't support gay marriage, not everyone has to support it you know. It seems now that gay marriage is being shoved down everyones throat and if you aren't for it, you are some religious, close minded, nutcase. Everyone has the right to believe what they want and some people just don't agree with that. People need to stop being so sensitive and taking everything so personally.

  30. 30

I support homosexuality. It's your choice. But why don't you wait until they refuse to donate food to a gay rights organization before you start slinging insults. Chick-Fil-A is a wonderful, charitable organization and they have the right to donate to any organization they want. Stop spreading the hate!

  31. 31

I used to manage a store at a mall when I was in college. I made friends with a girl that worked at an ice cream shoppe in the mall. She applied at Chik-Fil-A. She told me they asked her 6 different questions regarding her faith & asked her 3 times to confirm that she's a Christian. They won't hire outside of their faith…so I'm not remotely surprised that they are anti-gay. They're christians…that's what they are.

  32. 32

Re: MackAdocious – Do you realize what the demand for Chic Fil A is right now? It's the quality and service that draws in customers not their moral or political views. Sure, they may lose a couple of customers here or there because of this issue but at the same time they'll gain just as many because of their food (who would of thought). Many homophobic people visit this website (and post nasty comments) knowing it is being run by a gay man, but they still do so because of the entertainment value…same concept.

  33. 33

Perez man STFU! We are all so tired of your lame-ass BS on gay marriage. STFU already! Man! Look loser, you're not helping the cause you claim to support, you're hurting it. Man!!

  34. 34

Good peeps ag Chk-Fil-A if you read this, ignore Perez. He's an idiot! Even gay people think so.

  35. 35

I'm no longer eating at chik fil A They have the right to do what they want with their money and I have the right to TAKE MY BUSINESS ELSE WHERE.
Yes, The constitution protects the rights of stupid people to be stupid. It [The constitution] also gives me the right to RESPOND and to point out stupidity to my fellow Americans that don't hide their opinions behind a computer or live with their parents. Let's KEEP OUR GAY DOLLARS IN OUR COMMUNITY!!!!

  36. 36

    Re: mickeydeee

They stand for serving unhealthy greasy food. Glad you stand for that.

  37. 37

    DONT support Chik-Fil-A

  38. 38

Re: nitenick – NYU Dorm Cafeteria

  39. 39

i didnt understand a word of that but his voice made me lol but i gather they only catered for an event. if a kkk member decides to buy some pringles and shares them round at a rally does that mean that pringles endorse white supremacy?

  40. 40

How many gay rights organizations need to be supported, Perez? If gays want to be quantified, they are among the highest income earners in US society. In generalities, gays are smart, organized and know how to promote an agenda. They are also talented enough to earn more than the average American. Quit whining! When was the last time you went without a meal because you couldn't afford it?

  41. 41

Lol this dude looks like a silly cartoon character.. xD

  42. 42

Re: Rubber Rat – Thanks for being so reasonable. It's refreshing. I honestly think people like Perez hurt their causes more than help. Fundamentalists have the idea that gay people are crazy agenda-pushers wanting to shove their own choices and beliefs down everyone else's throat. HMM, I WONDER how they ever got that idea? Don't be such a cliche, Perez. Show people respect and acknowledge their right to make their own decisions. None of us will benefit from the kind of government regulation of thought and opinion you call for on a daily basis.

I'd hate to think that the one thing I chose to broadcast about myself was my choice for sexual partners. I'd hate to think my identity was defined by who I chose to sleep with.
I have no interest in sharing my bedroom inclinations with anyone, it's impolite and none of their damn business. Of course, we now have a society dedicated to over-sharing. Why?
I don't care if you're gay or straight people have the right to support whatever causes they like with their money.
Guess what else? Folks have the right to say what they like about that support too- just remember before you espouse your opinion someone will have an opinion about that too.

  45. 45

so many of you commenting on here are so full of bullshit. first of all if chik fil a (god what a stupid name) was donating food to some organizations event that was trying to keep you from having equal rights you would all be totally pissed. and for all you idiots who are saying "if you don't like it don't eat there" well if you don't like Perez bringing up gay issues then fuck off and don't come to his site. maybe that fool Dan Cathy should donate his food to a KKK Conference or a Tea Party Event, oh wait, that's redundant. or how about Westboro Baptists Church's next funeral protest. I mean like he said "its not an endorsement of the mission, political stance, or motives of the organization". man up Dan, just admit your a homophobe. save us the we love everyone rhetoric.

  46. 46

I'm sure there are a few Chick-Fil-A O/O franchisees out there who would be more than happy to donate food to a pro-gay rights organization, so don't be too hard on them, Mario.

  47. 47

Um, do you know anything about Chik-Fil-A? The entire chain is closed on Sunday's, because its a day for church and spiritual reflection. Meaning, the president and owner is VERY RELIGIOUS. There is usually a sign outside the mall stands with a message about why they are closed on Sunday's. Not to mention it is privately owned, so you have no right to tell them what to do with their money. They can tell you to F off and it wouldn't matter one bit. You may not like it, but you can't do anything about it (other than not eat there). We live in a free country dear.

P.S. I don't agree with Chik-Fil-A. Just stating the facts.

You're a little one sided. You act as though banning gay marriage is their mission. It isn't. They started these conferences 35 years ago back in 1976, and their mission is a focus on family life, and from their website: "From FamilyLife comes a new video guided event where couples have the opportunity to look at their relationship in a whole new way. Weaving instruction from respected pastors and Bible teachers together with compelling stories, humorous vignettes, man-on-the-street interviews and more, The Art of Marriage will help couples apply what the Bible teaches about marriage in a powerful way. It's practical, funny and straight to the heart." Then there's a video.
They do positive things at this conference, but they're bible based and you know there's that line in the bible about men lying down with other men, so they're obviously fundamentalist about the book, so they believe what they believe. You can please some of the people…blah blah blah, but I still definitely think you should go after Chik-Fil-A for some grub for your next event; equal opportunity.
