Christian Bale Bans Daughter From Acting Professionally

At least for now!

Christian Bale's five-year-old daughter Emmeline will have to wait quite some time if she ever wants to follow in her daddy's footsteps. The actor wants his daughter to enjoy her childhood and stay away from professional acting!

Bale said:

"(I) didn't like that (being famous as a teen). That wasn't for me at all. Some people can deal with it, but I found it to be a complete pain in the arse and embarrassing. Also, there was the annoying notion of everyone going, 'Ah, you should know better' when I was done for shoplifting. But, no, I shouldn't have known better. There was no reason I should. I could have done without that side of things. It was nice to go travelling and have those experiences (filming movies), but look, if anyone in my family - my nieces or my daughter - wanted to start at that age, I'd absolutely believe in and support their dreams, but I would tell them, 'No bloody way - not professionally.'

It's just too young. You need to be anonymous at that age, you need to go and get into all sorts of trouble and not have anyone know who you are. It's ruined when everyone knows who you are."

So sweet that he wants the best for her!

I hope Will and Jada Smith read this.

    I agree with him.

I think he's going about this with the right attitude. Kids need to be kids, and have a life outside of the Hollywood bullshit. When his daughter grows up and wants to be an actress, then she'll be able to make her own decisions. Life can be hard enough without every little mistake or embarrassing situation caught on film.

I would have the same reasons and another I would add, is that my kids might run into someone just like HIM, who treats others on set no better than dirt on his shoe. The "industry" is EXACTLY what each brings to it, mostly inflated, desparately needy little eoo's.

He's very wise to protect her from too much, too soon. There are growth bench markers to adulthood that kids should be allowed to reach in their own stumbling way privately, without the pressure of eyes, media or judgement on them.

Kind of expected this from him. Jada and Will need to learn a lot. Thinking they are not pushing and at the same time applauding and telling their kids how proud they are etc.. Of course the kid is going to think that he has to do that so that the parents keep their faith in him and stay proud even if they said he doesnt. A kid feels that

How about he bans himself for being a twat. But yeh the wordls worst parents Will and Jada should heed this.

    Bravo dad

After the interview, he roundhoused the reporter in the face for even asking in the first place.

Way to go, Christian! Your daughter should be allowed to enjoy her childhood first, instead of going into a career path that she may not like.

    Good choice Christian

I agree with him. Kids shouldn't have the limelight on them at such an early age. They should be kids first, grow and mature to be able to handle such a grueling business. It's too much for a child. Re: rosebud99 – Me too! XDD
