The Haunting Of Whitney Houston

| Filed under: Wacky, Tacky & TrueWhitney Houston

This is unsettling. This is creepy. This will keep us from watching The Bodyguard for the rest of our lives!

But if you close your eyes, you'd swear it was Whitney Houston singing I Will Always Love You underneath the witch doctor getup!

If you dare, let your eyes and ears be haunted by the sights and sounds of this Filipino boy competeing on Showtime, a Filipino game show. (above)

Make sure to stick around for the birthing scene! That's the kicker that will land your ass in therapy for MONTHS!

  12. 12

  15. 15

What the hell was that? Beyond creepy!

  16. 16

    WFT?……

  17. 17

    :| I didn't like that, at all.
And that was NO WHERE NEAR Whitney Houston.

  18. 18

This is old. There's another video on youtube with this person. Anyways, ya it's weird. They are lip syncing.

  19. 19

this video has been around forever.

  20. 20

OK…I have absolutely no idea what in the world this 'act' was supposed to be or WHY the audience thought this 'performance'–or whatever the hell it was–was good!?!?! Maybe this is some kind of cultural difference or something, but I'm just baffled! (not to mention scarred for life!!)

Could someone with insight into the Filipino culture and language please enlighten us as to:

    1. What this show is and what it's all about–and also, what American show could this one be compared with? What is the object of this show?

    2. Why did this act win? Why do the audience and judges think it is GOOD??

I (and I think lots of other people) would really appreciate some explanation of this apparent game show/competition…I'm just completely confused by this whole thing, and I tried to google it, but apparently I got something wrong because the search results weren't what I was looking for.

I hope someone is able to explain this b/c I am LOST!!!

  21. 21

That was super creepy, especially the babies.

  22. 22

No fucktards, he is NOT LIP SYNCHING!!!! look him up!!! YOU'LL SEE FOR UR SELF

  23. 23

I am in shock! What the ? This one you nailed on the head! I wish I wouldn't have seen it alone, but the audience is scary, too! Why the weird dolls? And he won? What? Who? I need rest.

  24. 24

Thanks for being a jerk by posting something as "creepy" before researching the culture first. Coming from you, I'm very disappointed.

  25. 25

Re: JBWOWW – Don't worry…I'm Filipino American and understood every word that was said and I'm lost too. I used to subscribe to the Filipino channel but had to cancel b/c most of the shows are filled with these type of comedic sillyness…. most Filipinos enjoy this type of humor though b/c it connects with the common people. I basically subscribed for the news back home and got tired of the same slapstick comedy in most shows.

  26. 26

female version of the joker lol

  27. 27

This is actually quite old.. seen this a long time ago.

  28. 28

it's not Whitney singing, this is the CHARICE version of IWALY, and as said by some comments, this is an updated TV performance of of a video that went viral last year

  29. 29

I saw this like a year ago, where've you been?

  30. 30

    Re: JBWOWW
here's the thing, i actually wasn't able to see this episode on tv but here's what i think about it:

    1. it's creepy. srsly.
    2. the show is called Showtime. it could be compared to America's Got Talent (that's the only American reality/talent tv show I can think of right now) but not so, b/c we have our own franchise of that here in the Phil. it's the show where the common people get to show their talents and to, of course, entertain.
    3. why did this act win? why did the judges think it was good? because it was different. most of the contestants who joined Showtime were either dancing and/or singing, and an impersonation like that was, i guess, a first. it had a great impact on the audience as well.

    i hope i enlightened the topic a bit. :)

  31. 31

This is basically the Filipino version of America's Got Talent minus the phone calls b/c most people don't have cell phones esp. in the poor provinces. People compete for the grand prize of approximately $24,500.00 which is about 1 million pesos. People can either sing, dance, act, do gymnastics, novelty acts, etc and then divided into groups. The judges alone determine who moves forward and then the final winner. It's fun at times to watch if you understand the language but most of the time I don't get the humor in some of the acts. .

  32. 32

Whitney is actually weirder than that…they had to vagazzle that act a little bit to make it believable… And what's with the wardrobe budget for the staff? Meaning no budget, that is…those 3 guys with mikes in the audience looked like they worked at a a carwash…

  33. 33

clips of this guy and his routine have been floating around for along time.

  34. 34

    wait what?

  35. 35

Ha!! This video been on YouTube for a long time and now you bring it? Must be a very dry season on your website that you feel the need to fill it with old shit. Or perhaps you need to stop posting all the stupid fashion spoofs and concentrate in bringing the latests on the stars. You defitnetly are not fashion guru, your sense of style is one of the worse since Liberace…

  36. 36

GoodGodAlmighty! And we think American TV is effedup with Jersey Shore! I seriously think I may have nightmares from this.

  37. 37

    let me clarify a few things;
the video isnt old…. this was a live show that aired last jan 7,2011…
    it's charice's version. not whitney's nor the guy himself…
the show is called showtime. it's not particularly a game show but more of an entertainment/ variety show that let's the Filipinos show their creativity in entertaining the viewers…
what the contestant on the video performed does not necessarily reflect the king of comedy the country has otherwise american comedy shows would not click to the Filipinos…
his performance was entirely his own. the contestant thinks that his act would entertain people thats why he did it. it was creepy and weird, yes. but that is the goal of every performer on the show: to entertain, to elicit reaction from the viewers. the fact that you are reacting only means he's successful with his concept…
and the fact that he's featured on this blog and you people are reacting in many ways ( which is the whole point of the act) only put him to greater heights as a performer…
i personally thought it was creepy. i watched the live show. but it was, in the end, ENTERTAINING. he wouldnt be featured here if it wasnt for that fact…

and please dont degrade filipinos (or any other race or nationality) because you too have your own flaws… your just lucky you live in a rich and developed country but that does not give you the excuse to degrade others… were humans too…

  38. 38

    Re: JBWOWW
just because he won doesnt mean he has to be good… he entertained the audience better than the others thats why he won

  39. 39

    Re: gerry in sf
even if your filipino american you grew up in the states… thats why you cannot relate to the filipinos the way you relate to americans… you just have filipino blood in you, but your american through and through…

  40. 40

    …the fuck was that?

  41. 41

    hehe

  42. 42

Well that had to be one of the weirdest things I've ever seen… Those Filipinos have some weird shit going on…

  43. 43

Re: urgexxx69 – Sorry pare but I grew up in the Philippines and although I don't enjoy this type of slapstick comedy my wife and some of my kids do. Even during the Dolphy era, I just didn't enjoy his type of comedy just as I don't understand people's fascination with The Jersey Shore. It just boils down to taste…you. like adobo…I like kare kare.

  44. 44

That thing is lip synching you stupid idiot.

  45. 45

wowza. This made my night. I'm so frightened. This will give me more nightmares than the Exorcist and Coraline combined!

  46. 46

thats entertainment.. i don't think thats weird at all.. seeing that now i think we are too edited to go beyond being theatrical.

  47. 47

    WAT

  48. 48

that was whitney ! she was up all nite sucking a glass dick

  49. 49
