bus shelter ovens will keep commuters warm

Waiting for the bus in Minneapolis just got a whole lot better!

Visionary Ad agency Colle + McVoy have done right by Caribou Coffee, by creating wonderfully interactive advertisements for the company's new "hot breakfast sandwiches."

The company has installed bus shelters that resemble ovens AND include real heaters, which keep commuters warm as they wait for the bus.

We hope Caribou Coffee sells lots of sandwiches, so maybe they'll expand and create more awesome bus shelter ovens.

SO cool!

Great creativity and functionality. Kudos to the guys who came up with this one!

That's actually really cool. Love the idea of real heaters. Wish they had them over her in Australia during the winter.

    I like.Very cool.

I'm kinda taking offense to the "in Minneapolis" part being crossed out. Watch it, Pere. You're not that effing cool.

kinda pissed about crossing out minneapolis… i agree with myjah on this one, youre a blogger perez- that certainly doesn't make you a celebrity. get off your high horse, everyone comes from somewhere and, although i'm cold, i'm lucky to be living in Minnesota.

    That's awesomely creative.

    Pure marketing genius!!!

I work for Caribou Coffee, the store behind the bus shelters–it is an awesome shelter. And for the record, the breakfast sandwiches in question are actually a lot better for you than ones you would get at McDonalds–they have Turkey Bacon, they are not fried, whole wheat, etc.
I hope that Caribou can expand all over the U.S. because then you guys can see what an awesome alternative to Starbucks and other chains it is.

Apparently that girl in the photo got broiled to death and then the mayor ate her.

What's so awesome about SoCal? You have an ocean? There are lots of places that have WARM oceans that are actually BEAUTIFUL and you can swim in. I recently had the opportunity to choose between moving to LA and Minneapolis. I picked Minneapolis because the people are actually nice here and not douchey, it's really clean instead of smoggy filth land, you can afford a nice house with a big yard, you don't have to spend your whole life in your car because everyone rides bikes, even in the cold. It's not perfect here, but at least people are tough and resilient. I can't the say the same for all the self-entitled bastards I've met in California.

I just drove past this a few weeks ago!! Minneapolis baby!!!!

Re: phantomoftheoctopus – Yay, Midwest! I moved to Iowa City from SoCal this year (for school…but I plan on staying in the midwest because I've loved Iowa so much.) Granted, I'll always love where I'm from (not quite LA, but around there) but to live in the midwest is one of the best decisions I've ever made.

Caribou Coffee?! You mean that nasty little place they have at the airport?! Wow…selling those tasteless/overpriced smoothies must have paid off.

  15. 15

Briliant! But I'm guessing it was very expensive. I have ideas like this sometimes, but have no one to suggest them to, no way to make them happen.

  16. 16

    Warm buns, nice.
BTW, Minneapolis is one of the most gay friendly cities in the States - looks like the love doesn't go both ways for Perez. Too bad - I've been there and it's pretty rad.

  17. 17

    awesome and lucky you, minneapolis
too bad they couldnt put this in so cal, it'd probably be full of hobos and dismantled by some low life scum to be sold for scrap metal within a day! and im from el lay as you call it, perez

  18. 18

I hope Perez isn't dissin my Minneapolis! Best city EVER!

Further proof to me that Anmericans cannot ebven SPELL the term "Energy saving" and "environmentally friendly"!
Here in Germany restaurants got those "heating umvrella" iutside restaurants in winter FORBIDDEN as they re a WASTE OF electric ENERGY!
Americans are such HYPOCRITES when it somes to the environment…

    Re: Santa Duckie

Its apparent that you cannot spell either. I personally love this advertisement, being in the ad business its a great marketing technique to get Caribou noticed. Its a tough competition with them and Starbucks. So kudos to them- no it might not sell those sandwhiches but it puts the idea of "CARIBOU" in people's minds, and it gives their customers they are trying to reach the known fact that they do sell sandwhichs (and probably at a lower price than starbucks). Good Job guys- probably not the most energy efficient- it probably should have been solar powered. :)

i wish we had those on bus stops over here, especially when its snowing and the buses are half an hour late…

  22. 22

this is really cool.. :) Nice to see some creative advertisement for a change!

  23. 23

I think that 9 out of 10 of you are ignorant, un-educated, self-serving idiots. Minneapolis has heaters in most of their bus shelters, in the winter it gets to be negative 32 degrees (thats fareheit Canadians) so this ad is just creative and imaginative. Sorry if you don't agree with the "wasted electricity" and Minneapolis is one of the "greenest" cities in the country. And caribou is not just the "nasty little place in the airport" it is a local Minneapolis company that actually has better coffee than starbucks. And Americans may be fat but at least we don't say "EH" after everything we say…..

  24. 24

Ummmmm…who's paying to power these things???

  25. 25

Holy mother of gawd - send some of them to Canada, for fuck's sake!!!! It's fricking freezing up here, especially in the windy snowy weather while you're waiting for the bus!!!!!
