Because as we all well know, Hollywood is only interested in making movies that have already been made.
Remakes are in the works for three for Jerry Lewis' most successful comedies - The Bellboy, Cinderfella and The Family Jewels.
Back in the 60s, these flicks were smashes for Jerry, catapulting him even further into stardom. That's the ultimate goal AI Entertainment and Social Capital Films have set for themselves in acquiring the rights to these movies. Each project is said to be going into development as a franchise for a major comedy star, though no names have been mentioned yet.
Christopher Tuffin, one of the producers for the films, told sources his aim is to "combine the spirit of the originals with a modern sensibility."
You know, call us crazy, but we think the last time someone brought a "modern sensibility" to a Jerry Lewis movie, Eddie Murphy found himself trapped in a 300 pound suit screaming, "Hercules! Hercules!"
Made tons of money for sure, but at what cost to everyone's pride?
