Well, we're glad to hear that there are some people in this industry who still have a sense of humor!

Although there's been a lot of controversy surrounding Ricky Gervais' pretty HIGHlarious, but no doubt brutal performance as host at last Sunday's Golden Globes, a variety of actors - and others - have taken to Twitter and other media outlets to defend the comedian!

Here are some HIGHlights:

Larry King:

"The folks who put him on the Globes have no right to complain about Ricky Gervais. He does what he does. Why should it surprise them? You agree?"

Elizabeth Banks:

"I thought RG was hilarious. Actors can take it. We have thick skins."

Jon Stewart:

"[I'm] offended that a comedian could be that funny at an awards show."

Lost writer Damon Lindelof:

"In case you forgot what made David Brent so brilliant, it's that he made us feel unsafe, uncomfortable and unable to look away. BRAVORICKY."

Andrew Garfield:

"He's been terribly nasty and horribly rude and I think he's genius."

Christian Bale:

“Thank God for comedians. I’m hoping he’s going to keep going further.”

Jim Parsons:

"He started with a bang and went right for the jugular. It was great! I thought he was really funny. It's like he walked up to the edge, and then he jumped right on over and didn't look back. I was scandalized, I tell you. I think he's hilarious and funny and whenever you're funny, you're gonna push some people's buttons. I thought he was hilarious, but I wouldn't want to be on the receiving end, I can tell you that. I was laughing while thinking, 'Oh, God. Not me, never me.'"

Al Pacino:

"He’s a comic, so he’s going to go for it. He’s letting it go. You don’t know what [he's] going to say!"

Heather Morris:

"I thought he was hysterical. He was so dry. He's funny as hell."

Relativity CEO Ryan Kavanaugh:

"He was hilarious. I thought he was just perfect. If he knocked me, it’s all in good fun. If we take ourselves too seriously, then what are we doing here? He makes us realize that we are all here for reasons that go between skill and luck. Let’s enjoy it."

Pretty respectable group on Team Ricky, we'd say!

Unfortunately, we feel as though the damage is done, so we're glad that he's not interested in hosting again - because there's no way he would be invited back!

Don't let the man get you down, bb! Keep on going for that jugular!

LOLz!

so the question remains - who was really offended?? everything I've read so far has said everyone thought he was hilarious……………

  2. 2

If MTV is smart, they will try and get Ricky Gervais to host their Movie Awards. Ricky will = ratings among young viewers and the network is known for "going there!" DO IT, MTV!

  3. 3

I though ricky was hysterical. He didn't say anything that hasn't been said or thought before about those celebrities, so it was good he did it right to their faces. I mean, if he didn't want to do it again, I'm not surprised that he went all out, and I could see how that might make some uncomfortable, but he was my favorite part of the whole show.

  4. 4

There is no controversy. He was just as offensive, if not more, last year and nobody had a problem then.

  5. 5

so now you are saying he is hilarious? you were saying he was awful the other day. You're such a dick.

  6. 6

Wtf. The other day he was rude and you hated him. NOW that celebrities are on his side he's "HIGHLARIOUS!"? You're so fake now. I liked you better when you were bitchy.

  7. 7

I thought his performance was brilliant! He's known for the type of humour people are criticizing him for…so if they were afraid that he was going to be "rude" then they should not have asked him to host in the first place! Besides, it's not like he said anything that wasn't true! Team Ricky all the way!

  8. 8

He was fucking hilarious!! People need to get over themselves and just relax

    Dear Perez,

I believe your opinion is less important than you think it is.

  10. 10

I haven't seen any of the celebrities that he jabbed really come forth with a stance one way or another.. id like to hear their feelings…just so I can make fun of them if they get all overly sensitive. :)

Perez if you think he won't be invited back you don't know showbiz.

The globes got just what they paid for. "headlines" the next day.

To them, no matter what they say it was a HUGE success because of Ricky.

I feel like before you read these celebrities' feelings on Gervais' act, you felt he was pretty cruel and didn't condone what he did. It's like you don't have a mind of your own and are easily swayed by what celebrities think.

  13. 13

We, at home, thought Ricky Gervais was hilarious!

  14. 14

He was awesome, and the only reason that I actually sat through some of the show.
Ricky Brillant Comedian, and everything he said with the truth. Strange nobody will admit that!

  15. 15

i STILL THINK HE IS AN AHOLE……NEVER LIKED HIM,NEVER WILL…..

  16. 16

I'm still laughing at some of his jokes….he was just hilarious. Just so you know, it was HIS call to not coming back next year not the other way around.

  17. 17

even the celebs know theyre pretty much just a bunch of morons

  18. 18

I think you mean to ask, "am I bovvered?"

  19. 19

Ricky is a Genius!!! In my opinion, the media needs a story and decided that they speak for "everyone" by saying how offended America was…everyone I have spoken to loved the show and loved him…I haven't talked to anyone who was offended…Ricky is a comedian…it's his job!! How could we not love the guy who gave us Karl Pilkington!

  20. 20

I think is was hilarious! I don't know what all the fuss is about. I think he brought a fresh air to the awards show and I can't believe that people were offended. Seriously!

He's zingingly clever, unless you find yourself in his sights. He certainly doesn't kiss anybody's azz.

I hate that bullies can defend their actions by saying they are comedians and just trying to be funny. I'm sure many of the suicide teens didn't feel their bullies were funny. To overcome horrible addictions like Robert Downey, to become a huge box office smash then have a mirror held to your face as a reminder of your lowest points is nothing short of bullying at its best. Shame on Ricky and the globes for inviting him back.

  23. 23

are you schizo or what? one day he's bad the next he's good, then in the same post you can't decide if he was funny or cruel
i liked you better when you were honest and bitchy

The World is getting sick of Hollywood and it's junkies. He is just saying what the World thinks with great timing and a cute smile. He's brilliant, he was the best thing a bout that sham of an award show speaking up for everyone who is generally suspicious of the globes as meaningless, etc Ricky ROCKS I laughed until my sides spilt. I say keep him and let him burn Hollywood to the ground. Ricky slapped Hollywood with his "dick" I loved the roast it was amazing. Grandma another gin and tonic please?
