American Idol Ratings Are Down…But They Could Be Worse

| Filed under: TV NewsAmerican IdolBusiness BlitzX Factor

american idol ratings down but not that bad

Okay, so American Idol ratings aren't getting BETTER…but they aren't getting THAT much worse.

According to Mediaweek, Idol's ratings are down 11 percent from the same time last year, but they still averaged a "16.4 rating/24 share in the overnights from 8-10 p.m."

Nothing to frown about, Idol. You're still holding strong against the competition.

Keep a positive attitude, bbs! You'll need it.

Before you know it, you'll have X Factor to contend with…

Do U think Idol will stay strong? Or are they on their way out?

American Idol haven't been good since season 1.

  2. 2

Not a big fan of Tyler and Lopez but the show was actually good but I think Randy is better as a sidekick then the lead judge.

  3. 3

    love it

  4. 4

    Hope it gets cancelled

  5. 5

it's over deal with it kiddies…

  6. 6

Was actually surprised at how much I enjoy the showed last night and how likable Steven and JLo were!

  7. 7

It was dull, turned it off after a half hour. I think I'm gonna hold out for X-factor.

It's time to introduce 'The Voice of America'. The Voice of Holland is a monster hit in my country and a lot of countries all over the world are planning to introduce their own version of the show! It's so much better than American Idol, X-Factor etc.

    Check youtube for videos!

People don't like Miss Diva. She is one step above a Kardashian. Selena, is the one and only thing she has ever done.

  10. 10

I flipped to it during commercial, and it wasn't bad. I thought Steven Tyler was hilarious and a breath of fresh air. Just what the show needs.

Hate to say it..but getting rid of Paula and now new judges…AI has had its Jump the Shark moment…this season and maybe the next and it will be all over with….Love Jennifer Lopez..she has to much going on in her life to stick this out another season.

I liked the judges last night they were funny, honest, intelligent and they should been the judges all along in my opinion. Simon was too ruthless and always looked bored he had his schtick and ran with it, Paula was annoying and always looked blasted, Randy copies the other judges and is so annoying"dogg" . but the talent since Jordan Sparx won, sucked! although I wasn't a fan of Reuben seasons either Yawhn! it's like they get rid of the good ones in hollywood and leave all these boring people

  13. 13

I tuned in, despite my vow not to, just to see how J. Lo and Tyler would do, and they didn't do too bad. But the show itself was a bore. I normally tune in for audition week, and it was the same ol' same ol'…you seen one bad audition, you seen them all.

  14. 14

Steven Tyler was down right creepy!!! he was saying really inappropriate things to female contestants one of which was only 16 ewwwwwwww!!!

  15. 15

Didn't even know it was on but was channel surfing and came upon it and decided to watch. I liked it! I watch to see the talent not necessarily the judges. Steven and JLo did just fine.

I'm sick of American Idol….. the judges were boring and way too nice to some of these people. it lacks originality.. and Im so so so sooooo sick of all these sob stories they dive into on the show. it seems so fake when these people are at an "audition" but yet AI has had time to dive into their pasts go to their hometowns and get these "tear jerker" stories. Who cares.. a lot of people struggle.. not every sympathy case should be high lighted.

  17. 17

This show has had it's 15 minutes, why can't people STOP while they are ahead ?
Instead they will be known as another show that got cancelled…
    IT'S OLD NEWS…..
Why do they keep bringing in people that nobody gives two shit's about…
She hasn't had a hit or a number one movie since what, the 90's
    Does he even sing anymore….

Steven Tyler was hilarious and showed his ability to a larger crowd. Did you notice how many times the camera went to him first after a performance? Unlike Simon, Steven was very positive and got the hanging of cutting out the bad performers quickly, unlike JLo. But how they worked together was terrific.

It was great to see Tyler's musical knowledge expand in some other than an Aerosmith song! Smart move, Steven. I have been a long time fan.

He is much more talented than most ppl know as the writer and pianist on most Aerosmith songs. JLo is pretty showed compassion and ability to ID a star. The "trainwreck shows" are often a ton of fun. People ask why would stars of this magnitude "lower" themselves to do Idol. In my view they have nothing to lose. In his 60s Tyler shows a compassion for a young person trying to make it.

The main reason the numbers were low was because FOX did a VERY poor job putting the word out. I honestly didn't know that AI started this week. Usually we've been blasted for weeks prior. I blame Fox. Perhaps because they were afraid how the new team would work out. But they did not a good job choosing the new judges. They did a GREAT job. I Loved it.

i watched AI UNTIL 9PM, I CHANGED TO ABC FOR MY MODERN Family show, .

  21. 21

    It's just such a tired idea.. -.-

  22. 22

I don't care who is sitting in those chairs, this franchise has run it's course. Time to retire it and move on!

  23. 23

this show sucks. it hasnt been good since i cheered for kelly clarkson. and now that simons not on it?? SCREW THE SHOW.

  24. 24

Tuned out after 40 minutes, switched over to O'Reilly Factor and then Modern Family. It was a total snoozefest.

  25. 25

Clocking the minutes (or better said seconds) until American Idol is canceled.

This show was already dead since Simon left, but by bringing JLo on the judging panel just added the nails to the coffin.

    RIP AI.

  26. 26

Steven Tyler is unwatchable. His singing along and lip sincing is horrific. After 3 contestants I was done. I've watched every season. Wanna kill a show? Add Steven Tyler. He is soooooooo gross. Big attitude, tiny man (in every way) I've seen it from the front row live. Prediction: This is Idol's last year.

  27. 27

its better now. tyler kills me,…he has a million one liners

  28. 28

Maybe I'm in the minority, but I really enjoyed the show last night. I have not been one to watch all the preliminary shows, but I plan on doing so now. I thought Steven Tyler was hilarious! I am looking forward to tonight's episode.

  29. 29

I haven't watched the show in years. I watched Live to Dance with Paula last night. I won't be changing the channel. If you've seen one Idol show, you've seen them all.

  30. 30

I will not watch with Jennifer Lopez on it. I refuse. As far as I'm concerned it's been canceled.

  31. 31

I really thought that this show would never end when it first started. Now everything completely changed and it's probably not going to go very far. Oh well.

  32. 32

The only reason I kept watching was for Steven Tyler. That guy is hilarious, although I could have done without the inappropriate comments to young girls, and I don't think he was meaning to be creepy. Still he was funny. Idkk if I'll be watching the whole season though, it's kinda played out.
