Executive Producer Nigel Lythgoe Comments On American Idol Ratings Drop - He's Thrilled!

nigel lythgoe feels good about american idol

American Idol executive producer Nigel Lythgoe is looking on the bright side of things.

Despite the fact that ratings have dropped, Lythgoe has only positive things to say about the show's new season:

"I am thrilled and delighted at the reaction to the new panel."

In another act of optimism, Lythgoe pointed out that Idol's numbers were "45% higher than last year's finale performance night and 18% higher than the season 9 finale results show."

And in yet ANOTHER act optimism for his show, he had the following to say:

"Wait until the talent begins to surface. There will be more than one star this year."

We're liking this upbeat, positive attitude, Nigel! This is exactly the kind of thinking you'll need to maintain if you want to compete with X Factor when it hits the U.S.!

Do U think the Idol executive producer has reason to be happy? Or is he kidding himself?

STFU FAT BOY. XFACTOR HAS THE EXACT SAME LAME CONTESTANTS IF NOT WORSE. HOW IS THAT GONNA MAKE XFACTOR "BETTER"?? XFACTOR HAS LESS CREDIBILITY IN JUDGES. NO ONE UNDERSTANDS THAT LIP SYNCING NO TALENT CHERYL CHEZZA COLE AND HER ANNOYING GEORDIE ACCENT. ALL THE SOUTHERN STATES WILL REVOLT. NONE OF THE BLACK POPULATION WILL UNDERSTAND WTF SHE'S SAYING. BESIDES, SHE'S A CONVICTED FELON FOR ASSAULTING A BLACK WASHROOM ATTENDANT AND SPEWING RACIALLY INCITING REMARKS ACCORDING TO THE POLICE REPORT. YEA, A NICE TIDBIT IN GETTING THE AFRICAN-AMERICAN POPULATION ON HER SIDE - NOT!! NEXT…

Re: PeabodyJen – You and others like you are the problems that are making this country the way it is today. Dumb down American.

i'm a little sick of hearing you threaten american idol with the x-factor..they are both on fox buddy!! they are not direct competition… one is in the fall and one is in the spring .. they wouldn't cancel american idol because the x factor has better ratings … they would cancel american idol if it wasn't bringing in enough ad revenue to cover its costs of production .. x factor has nothing to do with it.. why would fox not want TWO monster shows dominating 10 months of the year?

I found nothing wrong with the show at all.I found the new judges a refreshing change.Steven Tyler, I find extremely amusing and quite humorous and entertaining.I also think he will tell it like it is when the time comes.Jennifer Lopez is sweet like Paula but doesn't have the spinniness that Paula had which I think is a welcomed change, making Ms.Lopez a more credible judge. Her opinion would definitely mean more to me.I think keeping Randy was a good plan. That way theres still some familarity left.I did find him a little "throwen"by Steven at times but thats understandable going from a stuffy acting Brit to a American rock icon judging .I really enjoyed Simon as a judge but I know I will love Steven too.Its just one extreme to another in personality .They could never replace Simon so go the extreme opposite.Excellent move!

He's a good producer, but he needs to stop bullshitting with the "most talented contestants ever" crap. This year's talent has blown so far.
