Keith Olbermann Made Secret Deal Just Before Last Show

Even though Keith Olbermann's abrupt exit from MSNBC was a surprise to most, it seems that Keith knew that the ship was about to go down.

Sources say that just before he went on air Friday night to host his final show, his agent made a secret deal with NBC.

When Keith's agent complained that he was underpaid $7 million per year, NBC execs refused to give in, knowing that an exit was near.

The execs reportedly began making exit negotiations when they realized that Comcast wanted Keith gone because he was "a loose cannon that could not be controlled."

The bottom line is that Keith did receive an undisclosed amount in the negotiations, but cannot appear on television for an unknown period of time.

Sources do say, however, that he does plan on doing an Internet project.

It still seems that MSNBC made a huge mistake with letting their #1 host go, but at least Keith got something out of the deal.

Let's hope it's not too long before we see him on TV again.

I hope he stays away from TV, but I know he won't. I couldn't stand him when he was doing sports and he hasn't gotten any better at doing anything. Now if we could only get rid of Hannity, Beck, et al I would be a happy person.

How interesting that they feel only the ones who speak the truth have to be controlled. I notice that Fox doesn't think anyone on their payroll has the
need to have their lies controlled.

  3. 3

Keith Olbermann is a liberal cock sucker

  4. 4

WHACK JOB HATER GETS FIRED? WHAT A SHOCKER! COMCAST IS CLEANING HOUSE!!!!!!!

  5. 5

Ugh, I can't stand that guy. He's the left's version of Glen Beck. He's worse than Beck, I think.

  6. 6

Olbermann is an idiot and a flame thrower. He is the prime example of the "hate speech" the left accuses others of employing. It is good he is off the air and if he never gets back on the air all the better.

you tool. nice headline. we know you love this lying loser cause he has your politics, but he was fired. straight up fired. he didnt make a secret deal. if he could have made a deal hed still be there, or be allowed to appear somewhere else. he clearly needed money, so he had to take the deal, and now hes on….the internet!!! ha ahahahahah. he was canned cause no one watches his show. its lies and hate. its air america all over again.

Deadline also reported that two higher-up executives at Comcast donated A LOT of money towards republican causes. So, it's not really a surprise that they're trying to remove the most popular opponent of their agenda.

  10. 10

Bout time he's off tv - just a shame he profited so highly from his vitriol. He's such a hater!!!

  11. 11

I'm glad some one finally had the good sense to pay him to stay off the air. His liberal hate rants were getting old. I'm sure the staff is happy he is gone, and they no no longer have to mop-up after he loses control of his bladder during his diatribes.

  12. 12

WTF Comcast?! And so it begins…how the heck is Keith Olbermann a "loose cannon" and people like Glenn Beck not?!

  13. 13

Glad he's gone. All he ever did was vomit hatred.

  14. 14

The guy brought in NO ratings. No substance, just mud. Libs dont watch the news, they watch the daily show. MSNBC should bring in more conservative voices if they want better ratings.

  15. 15

    Who's next? alec baldwin?

  16. 16

Olbermann a loose cannon? What! He isn't a psycho right winger… those are the loose cannons. Look at Back and O'Riley… those guys are the nut jobs.

  17. 17

This is so funny. The guy was an arrogant, pompus ass.

  18. 18

SERIOUSLY PRETTY MUCH ALL OF YOU ALL ARE DUMB REPUBLICANS. You nut cases have no idea what you are talking about

  19. 19

It's been my opinion all along that Olbermann was "acting up" because he knew he was being grossly underpaid. His real market value is certiainly at least twice what MSNBC was paying him. He knew that. The network knew that. GE knew that. So it was obvious that he would want to be paid what he's worth on the open market or he would want to leave. That's what those political contributions were all about, because he certainly knew that making political contributions was a violation of company rules and normal journalistic ethics despite what he said. This kind of thing goes on all the time between TV personalities and management.

Obviously, Comcast is going to swing to the far right on msnbc in order to cash in on the republican homogeneity. Liberals are far too segmented and critical to lead them along with lies and feigned outrage with any reliability. It's a ratings dead end.

If that happens, it will be interesting to see how Fox reacts. What do they tell their devotees when they can no longer claim that every other network is part of the "liberal media" conspiracy? actually, I guess nothing will really change. They have already managed to convince millions that stations with center-right content that are also owned by republican affiliated corporations are somehow liberal.

Re: laythisdown – 7 mil is underpaid for his ratings…i dont think so….

  22. 22

if olbermann is a loose cannon, what does that make o'reilly and beck? sorry but they are much bigger haters than olbermann will ever be, and beck uses actual propaganda for his ridiculous accusations. olbermann may be opinionated, but he is nowhere near as bad.

  23. 23

If an arrogant tool like Olbermann talks and no one listens, is he still talking?

MSNBC can pay soemone far less and still get lousy ratings, so why should they overpay this clown and put up with the headaches he brings?
