Bill Maher Takes On Gun Control, Obama!

| Filed under: TV NewsPolitikBarack Obama

Whether you like him or not, you cannot deny that he makes some pretty interesting points!

Check out the closing lines from last night's Real Time With Bill Maher (above), in which the political commentator really sinks his fangs into President Barack Obama, for what he thinks is a 'too lenient' approach to dealing with gun control, as well as Republicans in general!

Wow! He really doesn't hold back, does he?!

And after the Arizona shootings, we can't say we blame him! Enough is certainly enough!

What do U think?? Do U agree with Maher's call to action??

You are so uneducated. Did you know that areas with the STRICTEST gun laws and the ones with the MOST gun crimes?? A criminal is a criminal and they will get a gun no matter what. All strict gun laws do is take away from law abiding citizens.

Divide and conquer just what the Rothschild's have planned.

  3. 3

    He's right on.

I couldn't even watch this ep, as that conservative douchebag sitting on Maddow's left was sooooo fucking annoying. Maddow was hilarious, she acted like she was going to get cooties from him. I would have liked to listen to David Stockman, but that guy made the show unwatchable. So, anyway, I cannot comment on the closing lines.
I will say that gun control is simply not popular in this country. The last time gun control was addressed in any meaningful way, the party that took that action saw itself thrown out of congressional power for 12 years.
And, while I agree with Maher on a plethora of points, you have to understand that this guy is not always rational, particularly relating to his views about pharmaceutical drugs.

Perez, you seem to just parrot what other people say on issues and never have any substantive thoughts of your own. I doubt that you fully understand one side of any issue, let alone both sides. It's annoying to read.

How does this smug asshole still have a show. Not only does he offend republicans he offends the south and the president. He is nothing but an old blowhard who doesn't believe in anything but bitching and moaning. I do however side with him on gun control other than that he can go fuck himself.

Oh fuck all these idiots that are anti-gun. Guns don't kill people. People kill people. How many Americans have guns? A lot. How many shooting sprees are there? Not many. Killing people is the second oldest profession there is. We've been killing each other way before black powder was ever invented. I'd rather get shot than stabbed/beat to death. Thankfully guns will never be outlawed. Don't blame the gun. Blame the HORRIBLE frigging security. Was there not a single armed cop/bodyguard at the event? Letting someone get enough shots off to hit 19 people is a bit much. A single sniper on the roof top would of quickly picked him off.

I also love how every single time so fucked in the head twat goes on a shooting spree people that knew the person always comes out and says "I saw signs of depression, etc" Responsible gun owners should not have to suffer due to one idiot going on a shooting spree once in a blue moon.

    I couldn't agree more with Bill Maher…..

Re: nicky45 – He's fun to watch because he's intelligent - most commentators are not. He, Maddow and Rush are the only ones I can listen to…even though they are polar opposites. Beck, Hannity and Ed Schultz are the ones I can't tolerate.

  10. 10

It's a lot harder for someone to go on a shooting spree if they have limited access to a weapon that enables them to do so. There's clearly a lot of fear in the US at the moment though, and until that's dealt with gun control won't be able to gain much momentum…

Re: NookiesWA – Well, actually, guns DO kill people. I love when you warmongers say guns don't kill people, people kill people. They use fucking guns you asshole.

  12. 12

Give me money NOW and i am GOD. listening to L.A. Guns this are exigent circumstances

  13. 13

Re: NookiesWA – educate yourself darling. He was able to get 31 shots off in FIFTEEN SECONDS because he had a clip that, until the assault weapons ban was allowed to sunset in 2004, was illegal. Part of what gun control advocates are trying to deal with are these large clips that allow people to get so many shots off so quickly without having to change clips. It was when he was trying to change clips that he got taken down.

I know no one is going to read this……

    I'm not a republican I'm not a democrat I'm not an independent. I'm just a simple American.

I'm sorry you can tighten gun control all you want. The problem isn't stricter gun laws. The problem is…… that no matter how tough shit is they are going to get what they want. If someone wants a gun they will find a way to get a gun. Tougher gun laws have no barring on it what so ever. All tougher gun laws do is make it easier for criminals. Nut jobs will also find a way. A tougher gun law isn't going to solve that.

Solution : Lets try to fix what's broken instead of making thing tougher and stricter. Look at it from a different angle.

Piece of advice, you can only tighten a shoe lace so tight before it snaps.

Re: Huxley – Good point - the bigger issue here is the treatment of mentally ill people. Evidently, EVERYone in this man's life knew he was mentally ill…but there are so many obstacles people face simply to get someone into treatment. By NO means am I making excuses for this monster…I'm pointing out that it should be easier to get someone institutionalized.

  21. 21

Mexico has some of the strictest gun laws in the world, I think we all know how that is working out. Those who intend to do harm will always find a way to get a gun. Restricting others from being able to protect themselves is why Chicago has had to take another look at their strict gun laws as they left innocent people too vulnerable. The old saying that "guns don't kill people, people do" is true, the fork and spoon didn't make oprah fat and the pen didn't misspell the word. It's called being responsible for your actions. Government needs respect the 2nd amendment and concentrate on learning and following the constitution and bill of rights as they are sworn to uphold when they take office. They are suppose to be working for us not the other way around. Gun control is one of the last steps before complete tyranny, check out history.

  22. 22

Oh, yeah, it's the conservatives and their hateful….wait…he's a progressive… Oh nevermind, doesn't fit the narrative. It is amazing how many people seem to think the comedians are the givers of all knowledge these days. Can't stand this smarmy guy.

  23. 23

Obviously most murders are because of guns because, let's be honest, before guns no one was murdered, no one was hurt, and there were no wars. Yeah, that's it. Let's close our eyes, say "Ommm" over and over again and beleive crap like what Maher is spewing here. The intelligence oozes from him like puss from a zit. People who want to kill, will simply do that, and all you are doing by making stricter gun control laws is either forcing them to go on the black market (because who ever said…"gee i better not rob this 7-11 cause my gun ain't legal"), or use an alternate method to commit their crime (a knife, perhaps?) Or should we just legislate away anything that could possibly be used as an instrument of harm? Cars? butter knives? chalupas? Let's look at some of the great massacre's in human history. 9-11? No guns. Pearl Harbor? No Guns. Jonestown? 907 of the 909 dead via poison. If you don't want to own a gun, no one is forcing you, but it sure seems like there are a lot of ways to kill or hurt someone not involving guns. Anyone care to dispute those facts?

  24. 24

BIll Maher is so infuriating. He thinks Republicans are stubborn and bitchy? Does he hear himself speak?

  25. 25

This is so incorrect. Nothing will ever stop the bad guys from getting guns. Laws can become as strict as possible, yet, bad guys will ignore them just as they always have. Gun laws prevent the good guys from protecting others. I am a 22 year old concealed carry female, and "no gun signs" on doors only prevent me, a good guy, from carrying. A bad guy will completely ignore these rules. If more good guys like me are allowed to walk around protecting others, then shootings would halt, as the bad guys would start noticing that they are in danger for their lives. Open your minds, people. It isn't just a democrat or republican "thing."

  26. 26

What do "responsible gun owners" actually use their guns for? Other than self protection in the most violent society in the world is there another reason for such a strong advocacy to own a gun? It seems like Bible in the one hand gun in the other. I'm not being a prick here. I'm just asking if someone who honestly knows why such a gun obsession exists explain to me why. Guns scare me, that's all.Or should I say people with guns scare me since guns don't actually have a mind of their own?

  27. 27

Re: Susie-Q – does a spoon make you fat, then? does a pen write for you? how ignorant.

  28. 28

Re: Roccomagoo – I agree with maddow and rush being intelligent and interesting. Maher however is a pompous ass who tries to bully the guest who don't agree with him. His audience is so biased it is sad. He is just a washed up comidian wannabe who relies on the shock value of making fun of things like religion. I am not deeply religious but this ass basically has said religion is stupid. Never good to call billions of people stupid. Oh yeah and he definitely has a face for radio good god.

  29. 29

    Re: Susie-Q – LOL.You tell em

  30. 30

Just like an old worn out sexist Commie to want to take guns away from the public. This is why we have the 2nd Amendment. The Weimar Republic banned guns just in time for the Nazi's to take them over. England ban guns over a decade ago to only have crime go up 300% and gun owners jailed for defending THEIR own property.

  31. 31

Re: TheMrsBradPitt – I agree!!!! That guy was a total douche.. I've never wanted to punch a guy in the face so badly.

  32. 32

CRIMINALS DON'T CARE WHAT THE GUN LAWS ARE, HENCE MAKING THEM CRIMINALS!!! Criminals have flat out admitted to be less likely to attack someone where conceal carry is allowed.

  33. 33

Re: Susie-Q – I have never seen a gun shoot itself! A gun is just the insturment without a person to pull the triger it is absolutely useless.

  34. 34

Re: SoNotRight – you can't shovel food without the spoon. you can't write without the pen, can't shoot without the gun

  35. 35

all i have to say is……
To everyone who is calling for stricter gun laws in light of the tragedy in Tucson, may I offer this little tidbit: If guns kill people, then pencils misspell words, cars drive drunk, and spoons make people fat. Remember: Hold the person accountable for their actions, not the means they chose to utilize!! maybe all of you should think about this.

  36. 36

If the Democrats start pushing this gun control stuff, it's going to be 1994 all over again. They'll not be able to elect anyone for a decade.

We keep our guns to protect our families and selves, and to protect against government tyranny.

Gabriel Gifford herself praised the 2008 Heller decision from the SCOTUS regarding the right to keep and bear arms as a constitutional right. Once she recovers, you're going to find her continuing to support the right to keep and bear arms.

Don't meddle with our gun rights or we'll vote you out of office for the next 10 years.

  37. 37

Re: nicky45 – I'm sorry if he offends you but some times the truth hurts.

  38. 38

Re: Scatter – Doesn't offend me … just not funny and not insightful. Truth… thats rich

Re: o3mta3o – Yes you can. Forks, sporks, or just using your hands. And pencils, chalk, etc for the second one. And even if they take the guns. There will ALWAYS be black market. Taking them away from responsible people will just up the black market and leave the rest of us defenseless.

  40. 40

This zionist POS wants to rewrite the Bill of Rights! we have the 2nd ammendment to protect ourselves from foriegn or DOMESTIC enemies which includes a tyrannical GOVERNMENT! Hitler,Stalin and Mao only got away with killing millions because they disarmed their citizens! this is what they mean when they say history always repeats itself, because nations always fall to tyranny and freedom is not the norm in history.

  41. 41

when they take away guns from law-abiding people the crime rate goes up 30% or more. do your res.

  42. 42

Re: nicky45 – Good point about his statements on religion - that always irks me. I'm respectful of atheists and agnostics, I expect the same in return.

  43. 43

    Maher is an asshole.

  44. 44

Doctors botched surgeries and mis diagnosis kill more people than guns do, should we outlaw Doctors???

  45. slite says – reply to this

Taking advice from this ass would be like taking political advice from you.

  46. 46

Re: Susie-Q – Really dipshit?? When was the last time a gun walked out into the street and shot someone? Hmmm? NEVER fucktard. It's the asshole behind the gun that shoots someone. Warmonger??? You have tho be the dumbest asshat I have heard. War existed loooong before guns were invented moron. People continue to kill each other with knives, clubs, crowbars and even bare hands, and they have since time began. Gun control is a joke. Criminals don't buy guns from gunstores, you know, the kind that get "controlled". They buy them from other criminals off the street. Try using even 1 brain cell if you have one and do a little research. The areas with the strictest gun laws have the highest crime rates because the honest citizen can't protect themselves from the criminals who are have no trouble getting weapons. The lowest crime rates are in areas where citizens can carry their guns on their person. Criminals actually think twice before accosting someone who is actually armed. Stupid fuck.

  47. 47

I love Bill Maher. I agree with him on just about everything, including this. Gun control is so important! You have to go through a huge process here in Canada, and the gun murders are SOO much lower then the states. I'll never understand how people can say "guns don't kill people". I understand that people kill people, but it would've been a HELL of a lot harder for him to hurt so many people with his bare hands, or a knife. This is getting ridiculous…

  48. 48

    guns are plain uncivilised

  49. 49

FYI you idiot guns don't kill people, people kill people!!! If guns kill people then I guess it's the spoon and fork that make you obese too right? I have yet to see a gun magically JUMP into someones pocket and randomly just go off shoot someone. Ha Ha you are an idiot. We don't need stricter gun control, we just need fewer idiot's in the world like you!!

  50. 50

Re: Susie-Q – Again use your brain idiot it's the person holding the gun that is killing the person not the gun. It didn't just pop up out of his pocket and say hmm think I will kill this person today. It's the idiot with the gun doing the killing. Guns are no more worse than a knife or a sword or rope and wire for that matter.

  51. 51

Re: windbourne – Thank you so much. You just proved one major point. PEOPLE with guns scare you not guns themselves.
