It'll be like The Social Network, but with classified government information!
The life of Wikileaks founder Julian Assange has been optioned for the big screen. The controversial man's biography, penned by Andrew Fowler, will be the basis of the project, even though the book itself isn't set to publish until later this year.
Still, producers see the makings of a riveting story and they are developing the flick to rival drama-thriller type movies like All The Presidents Men. Producer Barry Josephson is describing it as "this generation's suspenseful drama with global impact."
It will certainly get a lot of attention, no question about that. Get a real A-list celeb to step into the role of Assange and you've got the makings of an Oscar flick right there.
Any ideas on who they could get for the role?
P.S. - Word is HBO and Universal are also getting into gear to make flicks about him, though they haven't struck deals like this one. Be prepared to see him EVERYWHERE by the year's end!
