Aretha Really Wants You, Halle!
She's not taking "no" for an answer.
A movie about the life of Aretha Franklin is in the works and the singer is desperate to get Halle Berry to play a younger version of herself on screen.
Graciously, Halle has told sources that she is flattered by the offer, but doesn't think she could do Aretha "justice" as she can't "carry a tune."
Here's the thing Halle - Aretha doesn't care! She is sooooo adamant about getting you to play the part, she's insisting you lip-sync to get through it! She told sources:
"She shouldn't underestimate her own talent… I never expected Halle to sing. She's an actress, not a singer. Many actors have portrayed vocalists by lip-syncing to the artist's original recordings."
True, that is an option, but we think Halle is the kind of actress who really takes pride in her work, so lip-syncing would feel like cheating to her.
Keep at it though, Aretha. You still might be able to convince her. (A good chunk of change might not be a bad idea either!)

Aretha is "adamant" about Halle Berry getting this role because she DOES NOT want it to go to Beyonce.
Ms. Franklin felt dissed when Beyonce paid tribute to Tina Turner several years ago, who was dubbed "the queen." But Aretha IS the "queen of soul," and she felt slighted.
Halle doesn't sing, Beyonce can barely act, and NEITHER one bears a strong resemblance to Aretha.
How about a good old-fashioned casting call?
I thought Halle was going to embarrass herself begging to play Aretha, but it turns the delusional one was Aretha herself. Honey, Halle is a hot fox. You, on the other hand, have been a superstar forever, but you've never been a hot fox. Not by a mile.

I don't understand why Halle would use the excuse of her not being a singer to turn down this role.I mean, just be truthful and direct and say that you can't possibly embody Aretha because you look NOTHING like her. Halle has played singers before in movies and has lipsynched in those movies. She played Dorothy Dandridge in Introducing Dorothy Dandridge and Zola Taylor in Why Do Fools Fall in Love.The thing is she actually resembled those women and was believable in those roles. Aretha just wants someone pretty to play her and it's very vain of her.She is the only delusional one here thinking that Halle could possibly play her and be believable in it.We all know that Jennifer Hudson was born for this role.She should just give the girl the part already.
