One Of Britney's Songwriters Talks New Album, Promises…

| Filed under: Music MinuteBritney Spears

new britney spears album will be edgy

Looks like Brit Brit songwriter Claude Kelly is feeling good about her upcoming album.

Here's what he had to say about Britney's new sound:

"It's way more edgy than the last album. [It's] more in the vein of the album before."

Taking some cues from your Blackout sound, Brit Brit? We can appreciate that.

More from Kelly:

"…Dr. Luke and Max Martin are running the show, and it's all about the beats. It has a heavier bass line and it's much harder, more urgent, more club. She's ready again!"

We're totally down for some edgy, bass-infused Britney! Can't wait!

Do U like your Brit Brit edgy? Or are U skeptical?

Edgy… from a woman who isnt even allowed to go out or do anything by herself. Her life is far from edgy. Sad

In all honesty, blackout was her only good pop CD, it was well produced and her vocals werent that autotuned like her Circus CD. So yea i'm looking foward to this album, she knows how to do pop music, unlike gaga and her gemick filled shit.

  3. 3

Blackout had some of her best ever songs on it, though if it's all like Hold It Against Me I wouldn't hold my breath.

  4. 4

It must be nice to have a team of writers and producers make music for you, then the artisit gets to take all the glory.

  5. 5

blackout was amazing - the most influential CD in the last decade, for the current trends. i am all for it if she is doing music like that.

    Re: Lucky8Boi – too true!

i loved the 'blackout' album & thought it was the best album of her career. 'break the ice' is STILL my sh*t. if she's goin' for those hard a*s beats like in that song or like in 'hot as ice' i say that's a go fo' sho'! :-)

    blackout 2.0 ? Yes please :D

  9. 9

she has ZERO control over this. she barely sings, she doesnt wrote anything, etc…she goes in, lays flat vocals, the producers and mixers fix them, and they give it a hot beat. its sad.

so it sounds like shit then.

love the blackout sound ..bloodshy avant and danja made it a groove pop album with this urban vibe that i love… im so excited for brits 2011, hope to see all these guys produce more for her…my next fav cd after blackout is in the zone and onyx hotel tour was the living END!!!

I love the blackout album.. it was way more her.. i'd love for her new album to sound like that best beats ever ;D

I loved Blackout but want something new. I get she's Britney Spears and known for dance pop but after over a decade in the game I wish she'd at least try to do more artistically and have something with a deeper meaning instead of just going out clubbing. Madonna & Janet knew how to make dance pop that had a socially conscious message and appealed to multiple generations, I think GaGa is onto this as well. Brit's single debuted high bc the fans bought it right away in droves but it doesnt have legs for the long term like her contemporaries. Unless she grows up a bit she's going to be pigeon holed in that 21-30 demographic while GaGa's is WAY more expansive. I was excited to hear she was working with William Orbit (he produced Madonna's masterpiece Ray of Light) but sounds like Britney is more about chasing current hits (that won't necessarily stand the test of time…when's the last time you heard 3 or If U Seek Amy on the radio) instead of making grown-up pop art. I expect more from artists at this point in their careers. Britney is proving to be America's Kylie Minogue with a voice that isn't even close to being as good as Kylie while GaGa is more in tune with Madonna.

Shouldn't the album be called Dr. Luke and Max Martin featuring Britney Spears?

  15. 15

Re: Lucky8Boi – true but they are well compensated. without the "artist" no one would know who the songwriters and producers are. Don't think I want to see Max Martin in his underwear with a boa around his neck.

Britney is nothing but a puppet in the hands of record execs and songwriters. People are peeing their pants in excitement over that new album when they should really be worshipping her producers because if her songs are any good it's all thanks to them, not Britney's auto-tuned, soulless voice.

    BLACKOUT IS THE BEST!
Hold It Against Me is AMAZING!
    can't wait!
    She's 10x better than gaga!

  18. 18

All this hoopla for a grown woman that needs a babysitter all day every day to make sure she behaves. Nice. This chick is sick and needs to just go away and let the next REAL artist step up. Believe me, there are plenty of talented people who have control over their own lives that can take Shitney's place.

  19. 19

I love these hating ass trolls, there hate and arguement against britney never changes its the same old BULLSHIt over and over. You guys should really try better!!! And remember STAY PRESSED!!!!!

  20. 20

If she shaves her head again, then she will be edgy. Otherwise, no.

  21. 21

In other words, "we're putting in ever more, louder background music to drown out her aweful vocals".

  22. 22

why is everyone always comparing Britney Spears to Lady Gagme? Britney has always been pitted against her pop peers.. Us true Britney fans could care less about what the haters say.. Britney knows what her fans want and she always delivers.. she makes music for us, her fans, not what anyone else thinks.. and BTW, every artist's music is produced and written by someone else for the most part.. There is a great deal of auto-tune in Gaga as well.. Katy Perry, Pink, Ke$ha, Christina Aguilera, Shakira… they ALL put out music that is produced by others.. Most of Katy Perry and Ke$ha's music is produced by Max Martin and Dr. Luke as well.. so suck it haters. BRITNEY IS QUEEN FOREVER AND ALWAYS

Re: LUCASAZ – Her fans want bad music, so she gives it to them. That's cool. As long as you're happy.

  24. 24

Re: catlover – We are happy :) thanks for noticing!

  25. 25

YES! Blackout had such a better sound since it was way more upbeat and dance sounding. Gah can't wait for BritBrit!

  26. 26

I can't freakin wait!! Blackout was my favorite album of hers. So if she is going edgy and hard on this album too than I am hella excited! She is legendary!

  27. 27

Re: Britney Spears is a JokeRe: catlover – back again huh? havent killed yourself yet? I thought you would because you sound miserable as hell. I feel bad for you. Its ok continue posting comments of hate under every Britney post. Karma will bitch slap you one day… I swear you have something against britney personally. Its like you know her and are pissed at her.

  28. 28

Re: LUCASAZ – Amen!!! I agree! Britney is the queen of pop

  29. 29

Re: Mushu Baby – I think he might be sam lutfi!!!!!

  30. 30

    lol Perez, are you skeptical?

  31. 31

    LOVEDDDD BLACKOUT!!

  32. 32

Blackout is her best album. I want a Blackout 2.0 reloaded

  33. 33

edgy? Britbrit? Seriously? Kids, try some Nina Hagen or Grace Jones. THEY'RE edgy.

  34. 34

Yeah GAGA sux compared to Britney, I mean what is up with GAGA writing her own songs and singing them with that strong voice she has, and knows how to play the piano. Britney is much better I mean they write music for her, they autotune the shit out of her voice to make it sound better, yeah we can really see who the real artist is lol

  35. 35

    CANNOT wait anymore !

  36. 36

I don't understand this: how can you all hate someone so much that you don't even know? You don't know everything that goes on in her personal life, you don't know her personally, all you know is her music. If you don't like her music that's fine. Everyone has the right to their own opinion but really to go and actually say "I hate Britney Spears" is a bit far because you've never even met her. And if you "hate" her because of what happened in 2006, then get over yourselves. That was 5 years ago. This is today. Today she is making music and is at the top of the charts and isn't in the middle of a melt down so just give that up and move on and stop living in the past and actually start to judge music based on the music, not the person. And honestly, her fans, like me, couldn't give a crap whether you like her music or not. We like what we hear and that's all that matters to us and to Britney. It just annoys me to see the same people at every Britney post posting the same hater shit over and over again. It's like you come to her page EVERY DAY and read the news. If you hate her so much, why do you even bother? Like this doesn't make any sense to me.
