Hollywood Foreign Press Says The Golden Globes Will "Go On" (And On And On And On And On) Despite Lawsuit

Geez, there was so much hullaballoo over Ricky Gervais and his mouth that we almost forgot that the HFPA was facing a lawsuit over the Globes.

But there is and its bound to get fairly ugly, but the HFPA wants everyone to know that the Golden Globes isn't going anywhere. Next year, it will go on as if nothing has changed, even though something big might change. Throwing down against the HFPA is Dick Clark Productions, who have been the producers of the awards' show for many years. Their contract is supposed to be up this year, but there seems to be some disagreement on that point.

Still, while the suits figure out the logistics, the HFPA wants to reassure everyone that the Golden Globes is a go for for 2012, so they released this statement yesterday, saying:

"Regardless of the legal proceedings with … Dick Clark Productions, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association will present the 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards Show as scheduled in January 2012. The show will go on, with or without DCP."

Okay? Everybody good? You can go ahead and cancel that emergency therapy session. Nothing to fret about now.

Phew! Such a close one, right?
