Looks like Starz subscribers love them some Spartacus!

Prequel series Spartacus: Gods of the Arena premiered on Friday night with 1.1 million viewers for its 10 p.m. airing, AND another 753,000 viewers during its 11 p.m. spot!

The combined 1.9 million viewers beats out Friday airings for ALL previous Spartacus airings, and the premiere showed a 70% jump from the Blood and Sand premiere!

We have a feeling things are only going to get better for the Spartacus team! Congrats guys!

It's such a shame about Andy. He is hot, talented and totally made Blood and Sand what it was. I don't get Starz, so I will have to wait to watch this and see how it goes.

Good for the prequel, but here's to Andy Whitfield pummeling the crap out of lymphoma and returning to the series. His Spartacus absolutely made that show.

Love this series!! The gore is awesome!! nothing like it on tv. And the characters are great, both the good guys and the bad guys. Love Lucy Lawless. The last episode where she and batiatus went down was fantastic!! Few shows have the guts to kill people off like that.
