MSNBC Sees Spike In Ratings For First Night Without Keith Olbermann

The numbers are in and it looks like MSNBC didn’t suffer in the ratings on its first night without Keith Olbermann.

An average of 1.5 million viewers tuned in to watch Lawrence O’Donnell take over Keith’s timeslot, which was up a little under 50 percent from Olbermann’s average number in that hour.

Right now, we assume MSNBC execs are feeling pretty good about their decision. Will they still feel so prideful, though, if the numbers plummet next week, when the initial novelty of having a new commentator wears off?

We shall see!

MSNBC sucks, as evidenced by their piss-poor ratings, with or without lunatic Keith Olbermann. Does any one really watch MSNBC?
Guess 24/7 Obama love-fests don't hold much appeal for most people.

  2. 2

They tuned in because of the State of the Union address dumbass.
    MSNBC can kiss my ass.

  3. 3

It's just such a relief to have this jack-wipe off the air.

  4. 4

I started watching football, when they fired this fucktard.

Well, I like Lawrence O'Donnell but I love Keith Olbermann. I watched because Keith's leaving was such a surprise and I was hoping to learn what exactly happened. I'm thinking that may also explain why so many other people were watching.

MARIO, despite Olbermann SUPPOSEDLY having the highest rated show on that cable network, MSNBC is still a pathetic network. KO brought in, on a GOOD NIGHT, about 1 million viewers. KO is a PITA to management, and has been suspended by management, going back to when he worked at ESPN. He just clashes with ALL HIS BOSSES. Comcast came in and bought into NBC-I don't know if they dealt with him before, or JUST KNOW ABOUT HIM, but, it looks like they don't want to deal with his type of CRAP. and YES, he was BOUGHT OUT OF THE LAST 2 YEARS OF HIS CONTRACT. He will show up somewhere, but like Conan, it has to be after a certain time limit. Where? don't know. Where has his rep not followed HIM? Do they know about him in Siberia????

and in the end, or by the end of THIS YEAR, whoever takes over his time slot, KO will be forgotten. and maybe, though I doubt it, he will learn, 'make nice with management, make nice with management'. But, face it, doesn't matter what his politics are, Olbermann is an ASSHOLE and must be near impossible to keep staff for him.

I am sure not everyone in the country knew that Olbermann was off the air . . . So who cares?! He is the best!

Dumb-Ass….people tuned in the next day to see what the other commentators would say about the situation….it won't last! The only show worth watching now is Rachel….

Who cares KO is amazing and he actually tells the truth and that is exactly why people dont care for him because he is honest. And as much as im really pissed off with MSNBC they are the network that gives the most accurate info.

WEll of course there was a great deal of interest in why he was gone, what would everyone say about why he was gone etc…he was THE best!!!! I do like Lawrence O'Donnell but not like I like Keith…I hope he enjoys his time away until he can contractually go somewhere else…oh yeah there IS no where else to go! Buy a station Keith.
