She makes some decent points!

Rosie O'Donnell is the latest celebrity to speak out against the MTV reality show Teen Mom, but surprisingly, came to its defense!

She explains:

"I have to say it's interesting. My daughter is 13. I watch it with her. I think the fantasy for adopted children is to have a baby of their own, and then keeping it, which their mother did not do. The rate of teenage pregnancy is up, so when my daughter saw that [Teen Mom 2] was on the air, I said 'Let's watch it.' At the end of almost every episode the mothers say they wish they used protection or waited, 'My whole life is over,' or 'I can't live the life of a teenager.' I think it sends out a positive message. I do feel sad that all these girls are getting pregnant in an effort to get on a TV show. That's a little tragic."

Exactly!

While the show definitely does not present the material as glamorizing teen pregnancy, we definitely think that there are some teenagers out there who may look at it as an opportunity to become famous, and that's what personally concerns us!

We commend Rosie for being aware enough of what her daughter is watching to sit down and view it with her, and we hope that other parents of teens out there do the same!

If she came to it's defense, she's not really speaking OUT against it, as you state then is she. You are suck an illiterate moron!

    Read this on yahoo already

Yes, because I'm sure when the cast from Teen Mom season 1 got pregnant they figured they'd end up on the MTV show that was in development that they had no idea was in development in the first place. You and your staff are just so stupid sometimes.
    I "shutter" at the thought.

oh yeah…. "my life is over" boohoo…"how are we going to survive on 250K a year and getting paid to be on magazines?!" yeah…very realistic.

    Perez,

Your argument that "Teen Mom" is responsible for encouraging teens to impregnate themselves in hopes of appearing on TV makes about as much sense as rap, metal, or violent video games "causing" acts of violence.

For once I agree with Rosie. Any kid that watches that show and thinks "wow that looks fun" has serious issues to begin with.

It's like scared straight for little hoes. LOL

omg will you STOP blaming teen mom and 16 & pregnant for all these RETARDED little skanks going out and getting pregnant on purpous because they think its cool. IF A TEENAGED GIRL THINKS BRINGING A BABY INTO THIS WORLD THAT THEY CAN NOT TAKE CARE OF WILL GET THEM ON TV THEY HAVE WAY MORE SERIOUS PROBLEMS THAN WATCHING A TV SHOW. like seriously! you swear its like american idol for pregnant girls, like hey if u wanna win go get pregnant and try out! No… its not the shows fault, its the generations fault, its the parents fault, its societies fault, not just one tv show, thats ridiculous.

Re: RED–SONJA – they might get paid but can money solve everything? can it take back the fact that there teen years are lost because they now have a child, can it take back the fact that there dreams may never be fufilled because they have a child at home to take care of, can money BUY them an instant education already programmed in their heads?? no they actually have to be able to attend school, attend work, which is kind of hard with a newborn baby on your hip idiot.

I love Rosie. Shes so honest, and truthful. I have no idea why so many hate her. I guess they like lies better than the truth. Love you Rosie!

I'm glad other people see this show is a postive not a negetive it shows teens what can happen and how their life would change drastically if they were to have a baby. Also for the people who already have a baby young, like myself, it shows us that were not alone and every teen mother goes through tough situations and has their ups and downs because they had a baby so young.

teenagers were getting pregnant way before this show and they will be getting pregnant after its over. its not cause they want to be on tv or be famous its because they are stupid and horny and like having sex! STOP BLAMING THE SHOW FOR TEEN PREGNACY!!!! so fucking stupid i swear

I think they should just take this show off the air.. It's causing to much drama.
and instead of focusing all your time and energy on telling teen girls not to get pregnant, How about you start telling teen boys to start using protection so the pregnancy is prevented.
It takes two to conceive a child.

  14. 14

Shes a man!! Yeah baby, YEAH!!

    Re: LagunaBarbie44
yeah they might have a little more of a hard time getting an education, but it's a hell of a lot easier when your actually making money from broadcasting your life on TV… plus they can pay for babysitters with their magazine cover income alone. With a steady income.. it's a little easier then your normal teen pregnancy to get a freakin education.

While there's no real link between the show and dumb teenagers getting knocked up, does anyone else find it strange that the things people would never do, they'll do if there's a camera running? People will do anything for fame these days. Just look at Perez.
To better educate yourself on this startling trend, watch Star Suckers. It's an awesome documentary. Very well put together, very cleverly stated, and it would never ever ever get academy recognition because of its subject matter. Watch this and have your mind blown.

i watch it with my 13 year old too. its a great teaching tool.

  18. 18

While I don't condone the whole teen pregnancy I think it shows other teens that being a parent isn't as straight forward as you think. I'm a mum and I'm 29 and I still get overwhelmed sometimes.

  19. 19

i totally agree with rosie surprisingly

Re: Justshutupalready – THANK YOU! finally someone out there stops blamming jus the "irresponsible" mothers, but also places the blame of the boys who were too cheap or too uniterested to run to the liquor store to wrap it up! sheesh!

  21. 21

Some teens might look at shows like "Jersey Shore" as a way to get famous too.

  22. 22

I dislike Rosie so much, I'm automatically opposed to her point of view.

  23. 23

Funny how now a lesbian has said something positive about it, you agree. It ain't what you were saying a few days ago…
