Being Human Beats Skins In Ratings!

When done RIGHT, some remakes actually do well with new audiences!

After an impressive series launch on January 17th, the second episode of the US adaptation of UK drama Being Human increased in the numbers, growing 9% over the premiere episode to 2.14 million viewers!

It also out-performed Skins by a margin of +41%!

We think we'll just let the numbers speak for themselves.

I actually DVR'ed it and watched it last night. It was actually alot better then I thought it was going to be. I never saw the original but I heard that the original was really good so I figured "why not". The show left you with a great cliffhanger and the guys are really hot. I heard that the guys on the UK version werent as good looking… atleast one of them wasnt. Im excited for this show.

Oh… I was talking about Being Human, by the way. NOT SKINS.

I actually caught like the last 30 minutes of this show. I was seeing it previewing and I was like 'Bleh' cus I'd never heard of the UK version but that night I couldn't sleep and just figured I had nothing else to do so might as well just take it in. And from what I saw the last 30 minutes, it was really good. I plan on catching a full epi next week and hopefully they show over last weeks so I can see the start of that epi. The Vampire is really hot! My word. /swoon

Why is the US ripping off all our shows? Can't they write anything of their own? If they TOUCH misfits I'll kill someone…

You know what bugs me about Being Human, the commercials. They always advertise it as a "SyFy original series" when it's not. Being Human has been on BBC for at least a year or so.

good for that. i liked the first ep better but i'm happy it's doing well i wanna see much more. maybe even a kiss between the two male leads lol. because the show is a little homoerotic.

I just recently found Being Human and have seen 2 episodes on SYFY. How many are there so far and how long has it been on because i really like the show and would love to catch if from the begining. As far as Skins, i don't think it's as "racy" as people make it out to be and that with time i expect the show will get better.

The US version of Being Human doesn't even compare to the BBC version. the characters are obnoxious and they've added some extra characters that don't really add anything to the story at all. I think that the US should STOP remaking british tv, because 90% of the remakes are terrible. hi, us version of peepshow nearly had me crying because it was so bad.

Why are americans all of a sudden doing british shows? Why don't americans just watch the british versions like british people watch american shows? I mean, we all speak the same language!

so sick of the people from UK complaining all the time. if you don't want the US to remake your shows, tell the goddamn producers to NOT come over to the US wanting to start them. how do you think these shows came about you idiots? you guys act like the US wanted to start these shows on a whim. there are MULTIPLE interviews from producers stating that since these shows did so well in the UK, they wanted to try their luck in the US. get off your fucking high horse, the UK isn't that special and no one wants to be you. but continue to act like you guys don't try to remake US shows ;)

Re: malyse990 – the only shows we remake are reality shows which i can understand the purpose of remaking for different countries. however if a show is in english and americans can speak english a remake is utterly pointless

The U.S. version of Being human does not do the original justice. It's just a bad copy. I think the original have something special that the copy lacks. Please do watch the original instead! =) / Love from Sweden!

Comparing the adaptations of Being Human vs Skins - Being Human is FAAAR and away superior. Translated much better. However, the US adaptation of Being Human still pales in comparison to the quality, brilliance, depth and beauty of the original.

I'll still watch it. It will tide me over til the original starts airing here legally in February.

Being Human is awesome. Great cast, good writing, good chemistry, good stories. A solid hit, should probably become Syfy's biggest hit ever.

Skins is on the DVR, but the UK version is available on Netflix streaming so will probably check that out first. Um.. hello.. MITCH HEWER!

I'm an avid watcher of UK skins and I'm american. I feel like there is clearly an audience for the US skins, sure it's not amazing if you've watched the original but the second ep. was a lot better than the first… they added to it. If anyone perez, I'd think you would support it a little more, it is eye-opening to the american culture where we have shows like gossip girl, 90210, and Hellcats to relate to. Honestly it is a breath of fresh air compared to these american shows and I think if you give it a chance to let it find its audience without criticizing it so it seems taboo to watch it can't find its place in america. If you don't like it, don't watch. and try not to compare it to the original because we have all these guidelines we have to follow here, and they're doing their best with what they can.

I've not seen the American version of Being Human but its unlikely to be as good as the UK version, an excellent series and Mitchell (the vampire) is to die for! I've seen many adapations UK-US and US-UK and they rarely manage to be as good as the original, Skins is another case in point. Mind you, I also remember the truly awful British adaptation of the excellent Golden Girls (Brighton Belles) so it works both ways it seems ;o)
