Pour Some Kool-Aid In Your Toilet — Really

| Filed under: Wacky, Tacky & TrueEtc.

We’ve heard of using Kool-Aid powder to temporarily add some color to your hair, but we never knew it could be used to clean household items.

Looks like some people use Kool-Aid as a cleanser which even works on toilets!

Turns out the citric acid in the orange Kool-Aid works well to clean the bowl.

To get it to work, simply:

“Sprinkle the contents of the package in before you head to bed, swirl it around with a toilet bowl brush, and let it sit over night. The acid in the drink mix will go to work cleaning away tough stains and build up if you don't have the best water conditions.”

While we agree it’s an eco-friendly option and will definitely smell better than bleach, we’re not too sure how effective it’ll be at cleaning the bowl or getting rid of the germs.

Have U ever tried it?

It actually makes sense. When I worked in restaurants when I was younger, the cooks would use a pitcher of orange soda to do clean the grill at the end of the night. Sounds odd, but it did work.

Two regular alka seltzer tabs will clean a toilette better. Just drop them in there and let them fizz and sit for a while. They will clean a lot of other things also like dentures, sinks, etc. It will cure almost anything. Headache. Alka Seltzer. Upset stomach. Alka Seltzer. Tired. Alka Seltzer. Hangover. Alka Seltzer. Gas or indegestion. Alka Seltzer. I think it might even cure cancer and aids. It was invented by God.

The dogs drinking from the toilet will appreciate it I'm sure.

It's strong enough to do that and we let our kids drink it? yikes!

My uncle worked at a hospital and said that they used to clean the toilets with Coke, so I can see this working just as well.

You can leave lysol on for 15 minutes. Which one of your dummy friends told you that one? Go buy some damn Lysol or Clorox or PineSol even Ajax will do it. Ahh well. It's your funky toilet. Not mine :)

isn't koolaid pretty much sugar? and doesn't sugar make bacteria multiply? ya, i dunno if i'd try this..

    awesome idea

just makes me wonder about what I've been drinking… Koolaid yum!! hahah but honestly I might try it.. we have hard water and its an apartment so you know harsh abrasive cleaners eat through the porcelain protectant surfaces.

Re: saraheliz1 – Umm apparently you've never made Koolaid.. LOL… there is no sugar in the Koolaid packets themselves.. you have to add the sugar to the piture when you make it.. the picture Mario used is misleading because yes you can buy the canister like shown above with the presugar mixed into it..b ut the standard Koolaid packages are just the flavorings.

    Re: Genghis Khan – LMAO!

Oh, yes! And then I syphoned the entire contents of the toilet into my cut-glass punch bowl and served it to my neighborhood.

You don't use the sweetened kool-aid, you use the packets. The lemonade will do the same thing. you can also use it in the dishwasher while runinng an empty cycle.

Not to mention… Anything that can clean a toilet really shouldn't be going in our bodies!

Golly, I can't imagine how many kids out there have shiny germ free stomach linings. Oh, wait…doesn't bacteria help break down food?
