So This Is NBC Universal's New Logo…

nbc universal logo before new nbc universal logo

Check out the "Before" and "After" shots (above) of NBC Universal's logo.

Apparently, NBC Universal's chief executive Steve Burke has said that he thought the former logo "seemed kind of busy."

We disagree. We'd bring the peacock back.

Which logo do U like better?

  2. 2

    This looks terrible.

  3. 3

I hate it soooo much!! BRING BACK THE PEACOCK!!! This just looks hideous!

The original logo was exponentially better.

    5

the new one looks like someone spent a few minutes in MS paint

  6. 6

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. THEY PAID FOR THAT??? I could do that on Paint. Wow, how dumb! The peacock was them. Oh well. Keep getting stupified.

    7

Wow… Get rid of Keith Olbermann, change the peacock logo to something horrible. It's like, you didn't think they could find a new group to ruin NBC that was worse than the last, then they did!

  8. 8

There wasn't a problem with the old one and I wish they hadn't changed it. :(

  9. 9

would love to know how many millions of dollars they spent on such a ridiculous thing that no one cares about. how many hungry children could they have fed? how many aids meds? or coats for the homeless…

  10. 10

If anything the logo should have evolved from the after to the before

  11. 11

the new one looks shiteous and cheap….

  12. 12

Like the old one way better. I wonder if they ditched it because the rainbow is seen as 'gay'?

  13. 13

My Perezcious is in favor of all words which include "cock". Peacock, cockle shells, cockamamie - the Perezcious just loves these wonderful words.

  14. 14

EW. they should stick with the old one. much….just classier and modern

  15. 15

Bring back the Peacock. NBC got rid of the Peacock once before but they brought it back after a few years because people missed it.

  16. 16

HORRIBLE!!! NBC cannot do ANYTHING right these days!!!

  17. 17

The before was a logo, the after is just font.

  18. 18

am i the only one who has the song peacock stuck in their head after reading this? but anyway, yes, bring the peacock back.

  19. 19

BEFORE…. How can you spend money to make it worse?

  20. 20

Oh my god. What an idiot. This brings me back to my days in the corporate world where my cocky SOB know-it-all-but-really-doesn't-know-jack boss used to defy every expert consultant's advice and make asinine decisions like this one. I don't even think you can call that second one a logo. It looks like a file name minus the .doc or.jpg.

  21. 21

    awful.

  22. 22

New logo looks crappy, peacock it NBC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  23. 23

at least they didn't use Helvetica…

  24. 24

You mean besides the reproducibility of it for anyone who has the "Gothic" font family and MS paint???

  25. 25

The new one looks like a kid mocked it up using WordArt. Wonder how much that ugly thing cost.

  26. 26

    The new logo is terrbile.
If he thinks this looks good then I question his judgment and they should fire him now.

  27. 27

They couldn't have paid for this. Maybe it an unpaid-intern design contest? ;]

  28. 28

EWWW!!! the old one is 100 times better! They are known for that rainbow peacock!!

  29. 29

Re: TheBMan – granted they shouldn't have paid for something so uncreative, but nbc is not in business to feed hungry kids. they employee people, so those people can then feed their own kids or donate to programs that do…if they choose.

  30. 30

HORRIBLE and such a stupid decision.

  31. 31

wow, no peacock - that's terrible - and it looks like shitty corporate logos do these days. killing history - terrible…

  32. snit says – reply to this

    32

call me immature (i am!), but i see the "Cun…" and it just makes me think the C-word.

  33. 33

If all his decisions are as poor as this one he shold be let go immediately.

  34. 34

Not to let facts get in the way - but the new logo is for internal and corporate use. The peacock is not going away.

  35. 35

Definitely bring the peacock back!!! This one is SO boring. Is there someone we can contact to bitch out? This is really dumb.

  36. 36

Years ago when we moved out to the country a family in my area received proceeds for designing the peacock logo for many years. I don't know for sure if it was true, but everyone always talked about it. Needless to say I always liked the logo, and years ago the network was a good one. Nowadays not so much. If I didn't know better it is almost like they want to be known as crappy network.

  37. 37

Can you even call that a logo?

  38. 38

    H-O-R-R-I-B-L-E

  39. fiera says – reply to this

    39

Steve Burke is an asshole. Bring back the peacock you idiot!!!

  40. 40

OMFG! THIS IS PURE GENIUS! UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!!! :O WOW! I want to meet the guy who came up with this idea 8-)

  41. 41

What an absolutely hideous idea. Way to take away an icon! The minute I see the peacock, I know what channel I'm dealing with. This makes no sense whatsoever and will literally last a very short while until they come to their senses. Bring back the bird!!!!

  42. 42

    LOL!!

  43. 43

That background is supposed to be purple btw. It's ugly as hell and hard to read at first glance. yuck.

  44. 44

Peacock all the way! That makes my eyes hurt.

  45. 45

Ahh yay the people who re-designed Gaps logo WERE able to find a new job. Well good to see that NBC is picking up the garbage. My guess is the this is either a joke or it will be back to the old logo in another 2 weeks. :)

  46. 46

Oh boy, they've only owned NBC for less than 24 hours and they're already screwing things up. Come ON, the peacock must stay. That's a no brainer! (They'll probably cancel Chuck, the one decent show they have and go further down the tubes.)

  47. 47

That is horrible. It looks like an abbreviation for a college name.

  48. 48

Did you even read the whole article that was linked to? It says:

"The company will continue to use the peacock when promoting the NBC broadcast network and its cable news outlets. "

  49. 49

The 1st one IS too busy but the 2nd just sucks, letter spacing is too cramped.
They should just use the peacock, everyone knows what it is. I can't wait until I become a famous designer so I can turn out mediocre shit and get paid mils ;)

  50. 50

The moron that made this decision should be fired for breaking the first rule of business; loyalty to the logo.

  51. 51

Lame! Why change a good thing? That new one looks bo-ring!

  52. 52

The new logo is boring! The old logo was much better

  53. 53

    Re: TheBMan – AMEN!

would love to know how many millions of dollars they spent on such a ridiculous thing that no one cares about. how many hungry children could they have fed? how many aids meds? or coats for the homeless…

  54. 54

I'd just like to know who thought it was a good idea to get rid of the peacock. It's not only iconic, its basically synonymous with the entire corporation. And then they further disrespect it by replacing it with a jeopardy clue. Someone dropped the ball on this big time

  55. 55

NBC is not getting rid of it, the new logo is only for business related items like letter heads etc…do you even know what you're talking about?

  56. 56

Getting rid of one of the most iconic, recognizable logos in history? Dumb and dumber.

  57. 57

    Yawn.

  58. 58

That is lame. I cant believe that they paid someone to do that! How could they take the peacock out of the logo.

  59. 59

I do not like the new logo. previous logo, looks more cool

  60. 60

It's the Gap logo disaster all over again. The new logo sucks, no one likes it. Change it back. You suck Mr. Burke.

  61. 61

Yawn. why would they do that?! I hate it I like the other one with the peacock.

  62. VONiE says – reply to this

    62

its so boring. the first wasn't bisy, it had life. I think he changed it because he wanted to do something while he was there. as chief executive to change something about NBC. he just made it boring tho.

  63. 63

bring back the peacock! goddammnit NBC

  64. 64

The problem with NBC is not the logo. They already had the best logo. Who's making the decisions over there???

  65. 65

    THATS BRILLIANT EINSTIEN !!!

  66. 66

Whoever was in charge of that marketing should be fired…ditching a brand that took how long to build?!?!?! Stooooopid.

  67. 67

I like the old logo better! The peacock has always been associated with NBC… :(

  68. 68

    HATE that font.

  69. 69

    1. Open up MS Paint.
    2. Paint the background a shitty purple/blue color.
    3. Take the text tool, create a box in the center of the document, and pick out the shittiest font possible.
    4. Type "NBCUniversal".
    5. Save.

And now, this just leads me to wonder how much the designer was paid..

  70. 70

That looks like a bank or douche logo ! Bring back the rainbow cock !!!

  71. 71

PEACOCK, dont be a chicken boy stop actin like a biotch! Lemme see ur peacock!

  72. 72

If you're going to go with strictly a font logo, at least have TWO different fonts, one for NBC and one for Universal. This BEYOND sucks ass!!! The old logo was classic, combining both the peacock and the globe.

  73. 73

the new logo looks like a logo for a medical company or product…not recognizable at all

  74. 74

BRING BACK THE PEACOCK!! This new logo is so plain and lifeless…I bet anything that the CEO heard one too many times the references to the "gay pride" rainbow and the NBC logo. Just my opinion…but seriously, what was he thinking?!???!

  75. 75

What is this.. my big fat NBC? next they be feeding us subliminal messages through Baldwin number 3 forcing us to eat at opa.
