The King's Speech Director Does NOT Want To Re-Cut The Film For A PG-13 Rating

| Filed under: Icky Icky PooFilm FlickersAwardzBusiness Blitz

the kings speech director wont cut film

Given all the awards that The King's Speech has been nominated for AND won, MAYBE it's good as it is???

Harvey Weinstein doesn't seem to think so, and he's working on a new marketing strategy to clean up profane dialogue from the film, in an effort to bring it down to a PG-13 rating.

The King's Speech director Tom Hooper does not support making any cuts to the film, and we don't blame him in the least!

Here's what Hooper had to say about it:

"I wouldn't support cutting the film in any way. I think we looked at whether it's possible to bleep out the f*cks and stuff, but I'm not going to actually cut that part."

Good for you, Tom! You directed a wonderful film, which is a strong candidate for Best Picture at the Oscars, and it would be absurd for you to have to cut the film at this stage of the game!

To quote the Beatles' immortal words, let it be, Harvey!

Do U think The King's Speech should be cut? Or should it stay as is?

Nooo! Oh man I hope they don't do this!! The moment where Colin Firth says a string of profanities, and then when he even MOUTHS the word "fuck" during his speech are some of the best parts of the movie, and so funny! I really really hope they don't go through with this, damn you Weinstein….

Don't change a thing. Really good movie, just as it is.

  3. 3

Fuck PG13. Don't change a single moment of this fucking film.

Just saw it last night… Don't change a thing!!!
(I didn't notice it being that bad to begin with!)

In Canada this movie's rating is "G." Get a grip USA. It's only a word. Stop letting your religious nuts control everything.

They should ABSOLUTELY keep it the way it is! It's a brilliant movie, and the swearing and profanity is almost essential to the character!! Those scenes were so perfect and made everyone laugh, but they also added to the movie. So many movies use swearing just as shock value, but not "The King's Speech". The scenes with the King swearing were some of the most memorable. :)

LOL! This is only 14A in Canada (like PG-13 only it's 14 and under). I think the rating system here looked at the dialogue and realised it wasn't directed toward anyone and it wasn't done in a 'violent' way. It is integral to the storyline.

    Old news.

LOL as if USA is stopping kids from seeing this film, it's a very, very good film.

Re: Canuckfuck – 14A??? In Quebec it's G–Suitable For All.

I don't think they should re-cut it. I'm certain that there won't be a long line of teenagers eager to see this movie regardless…

They should leave it just the way it is. It does't need to be changed at all.

Maybe they should loosen the reigns on the F-word instead. Seems sorty petty that it even had to be rated R just because of the non-sexual nature he used it in to begin with.
Esp when I was waaaaay younger than 13 when I first started using it, in the non-sexual nature also.

Harvey Weinstein can go fuck himself! Seriously, censorship is really getting out of hand. Context is everything, and the film is brilliant.
