You MUST Watch This!!!!

| Filed under: Gay Gay GayPolitikInspirationPerezTV

Zach Wahls is SO awesome! We are very impressed.

Check out the video (above) of 19-year-old Zach Wahls, a child of a same-sex couple, speaking up for same-sex marriage during a three hour debate at the Iowa house.

We were VERY disappointed to hear that the house ended up voting to approve a resolution that proposes a constitutional amendment to ban same-sex marriage, but we were incredibly impressed with Zach!

SO brave and well spoken at only 19-years-old! America needs more young people like him to speak up!

You are an inspiration to us all, Zach.

Thank you!

Excellent! What a wonderful young man!!!

  2. 2

amazing!! not only did he make valid points he made them well such a pity that the house voted to stay ignorant

  3. 3

The world needs more people like him to stand up and say something.

  4. 4

THANK YOU for posting that. Awesome - he and his parents should be very, VERY proud.

  5. 5

WOW!!! Unbelievable!!! What an amazing speaker……he is going to make a huge impact in the world!! AMAZING!!!!
Too bad the house was unable to make a change……
“The greatest ignorance is to reject something you know nothing about”

    Bravo Zach Wahls!
    Shame on the Iowa House!

  7. 7

Brilliant young man! We will hear more from him in the future.

  8. 8

How sad that this amazing young man and his amazing family have to stand up and justify what they have in order to maintain it in the eyes of the law.

  9. 9

I see this site continues to spout gay propoganda where it used to be celebrity gossip. That, coupled with the new improved Perez equals a really crap pointless gay site. you should rename it so people know what theyre in for when the login.

  10. 10

He is well spoken, but would you have been as impressed if he was speaking against gay marriage? I don't think so, you would be calling him a homophobe. As for people disappointed about how the Iowa house voted, they are there to represent the people of Iowa not just the gay special interest groups. I expect, if you checked polls, that most people in Iowa don't support gay marriage and that is how their representatives voted.

  11. 11

Now that is how you make a speech. What a smart, brave and endearing young man. I hope that someday people will be able to move beyond such prejudice and see that family is more than a man and a woman having kids together. This 19 year old has spoken such wisdom and truth.

  12. 12

what an amazing speaker with very valid points, his parents should be proud…I actually watched the whole thing because he was so well spoken…it's sad ignorance still exist.

  13. 13

geez…that was great…i wish more people could hear that speech…

  14. 14

mattyvoyager…you're what's wrong in the world today. The goal of society is not to see who's better than whom, what religion is 'right' or whether someone's sexual orientation is correct, it's to embrace these differences and live within them peacefully. In between the Gossip, Perez posts meaningful, newsworthy excerpts from the news…perhaps you should be reading less of the 'gossip' and more of the news…the real news that affects you and I.

  15. 15

    bravo

  16. 16

What a brave and intelligent man. I'm sure his mothers are so proud of him right now. I think more individuals raised by gay parents need to speak up and tell the world their families are filled with same kind of love and hopes and dreams as any other family. Someday we will achieve equal rights, and it's individuals like this who can help change the minds and hearts of people who fear those that are different.

  17. 17

It is unfortunate that such a well spoken young man has to justify his family to the ignorant. Hopefully this will change one day.

  18. 18

Just outstanding. So well spoken, such valid points!

  19. 19

What a great guy! Good for him! I'm sure his Mom's are extremely proud of him. Brought a tear to my eye.

  20. 20

If he were gay, I would do anything and everything to be with him. I love to love and would love him as my man. And he is sooooooo to die for just by his speech!!!!! I almost fainted how powerful it was. WELL DONE BABY BOY!!!

Something i dont understand, and i am being sincere. They say a piece of paper does not make a family, yet they are fighting so hard for it. The reason i say that is because i know for fact California gives gay couples the same rights as hetero couples, so its not about the rights there, they have them.

I am all for same rights for all, that is a must. I just dont understand why i have to change my beliefs for them to have it. I believe marriage is a man and a woman. The representatives have offered compromises of "marriage" with a different name, because gay "marriage" is different. So why can we not agree on a name for gays to use when they are joined, leave the word marriage for hetero couples and that way everyone gets what they want. Gays get the piece of paper, they get the union, they get what they need.

    Part 2:
I have gay friends who tell me all the time, its just a word "marriage" why do i care so much about what it stands for. To which i respond if its just a word to you why are you fighting so hard to use it? Its just a word, you can use a different one if the word marriage doesnt mean anything to you.

I honest and sincerely do not understand why the rights of one side are more important than anyone else's rights. WE all have rights, and instead of forcing anything on either side, we should find a compromise we can all agree on. Gays should have rights with their partners, they should have all the same rights as a hetero couple, but the word marriage means something to me, and i would rather not have to specify when i say i am married, i just dont want to have to check male or female. Isnt that my right to want that, or do my rights not count? I am not asking to keep anything from anyone, i am just asking to keep a word that means something to me.

  23. 23

Dude, you rock!! You speak more eloquently and with more conviction than people twice your age. You ARE living proof that families are not defined by anyone's beliefs, but instead but by sound, unconditional love and support….bravo!

  24. 24

A good speech, but I am still opposed to calling it "marriage" or having the gay couples married in church or by a religion that does not support that kind of a union. What is wrong with calling it a civil union and giving it all the rights a married couple has ? Marriage is a religious institution, and as such a private one. Does not a religion have a right to decide the sexual orientation of the people being joined by their sacred rights ? Governments have no authority to transform religious institutions just like they have no right to discriminate against same sex couples.

  25. 25

being raised by two mothers as well i can fully agree with everything that brave man said. Sure i may not live in a house with a dad and a mom but my mothers love each other just like any man or women would. This world needs to open their eyes and understand that same sex couples are just as equal as any straight couple in the world. this young man is outstanding and should be applauded for his efforts.

  26. 26

Trikky, I believe you have misunderstood the mission of those working to gain equality for homosexual couples. Nobody is suggesting that religious institutions must provide homosexual marriages. That is simply not the case. Being raised Catholic, I respect the church while I disagree with its teachings. I would never expect them to allow me a Catholic marriage. The point is, the word marriage is used by the law, which is why homosexuals want the same. If you want the word marriage you can have it, but take it out of all government texts and call every union a civil union.

Re: mattyvoyager – then go somewhere else fuck wad !

  28. 28

brilliant !!!!!! shame shame shame iowa ….

  29. 29

    Re: T~

Your gay friends do not represent the gay community as a whole. Like you, marriage might mean something important to a gay person. Maybe THEY don't want to have to specify when they are a gay couple.

  30. 30

Reading what other people commented on this page makes me really sad. Then again they probably live in no where America, where they have never seen anyone that looks or acts different then themselves. Gay Marriage rights is only a matter of time. Thanks to Hollywood/Perez/the Liberal Media . . We will have the rights we deserve as equal tax payers. FYI . . According to the new census, gay men and women have the highest median income in the united states. Its passed due that we are recognized!! NOH8

  31. 31

wow. that's amazing. how could he not convince the world?

Zach said, "In my 19 years not once have I ever been confronted by an individual who realized independently that I was raised by a gay couple," he said. "And you know why? Because the sexual orientation of my parents has had zero effect on the content of my character."
    Bullseye.

  33. 33

wow! truly amazing. i was in tears. just so inspiring. thank you for sharing.
