Mona Lisa Is Leo's "Male Lover"

| Filed under: Gay Gay GayLGBT

Mona Lisa Is A He

Don’t act surprised, he was an artist.

"Leonardo da Vinci’s most famous portrait “Mona Lisa,” depicts Leo’s young male apprentice and lover, Gian Giacomo Caprotti” claims Silvano Vinceti, the head of the National Committee for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage, claims

Apparently Leonardo’s assistant / model was the subject of several erotic drawings produced by the Renaissance genius, and was given the nickname “Salai,” or “Little Devil.” Meow!

According to Vinceti:

“Salai was very handsome and probably Leonardo’s lover. He stole from Leonardo and caused him many problems, but the artist always forgave him.”

“Several of Leonardo’s works, including two paintings of St John the Baptist and a lesser-known drawing called “Angel Incarnate,” were based Salai. There were striking similarities between those works and that of the Mona Lisa, particularly in the depiction of mouths and noses.”

The truth about Da Vinci’s personal life cannot change his artistic brilliance and historical importance. That being said, the story would make for a seksi HBO mini series!!!!

What do U think?

Why does that NOT surprise me?

  2. 2

This WOULD make a good movie… Perhaps I should get to writing…

  3. 3

I think your a biased homosexual.

"The truth about Da Vinci’s personal life cannot change his artistic brilliance and historical importance."

You are gay and write shit like this?
Why would the fact of Leonardo being gay (which has been know for decades) change anything?

  5. 5

Talk about grasping for straws?!! Despite the wishes of the LBGT community, not everyone is a closet homo. If "Leo" painted this young apprentice in other paintings and pieces of art, why would he suddenly paint him as a female? Why name it "Mona Lisa" rather than "Mona Sali" or something of that nature? It is really a disgrace to drag such a famous artist through the mud of the LBGT agenda. Pathetic really.

  6. 6

i heard something like this a year ago?

  7. 7

I thought people already knew he was a homosexual?

  8. 8

not everything has to end up in HBO.

  9. 9

    Um such old news?!

  10. 10

I'm not buying it. I think people are just way overanalyzing this painting, constantly trying to find some great secret with it. He painted someone's portrait, and the fact that they aren't 100% certain who the person is doesn't mean that it's some great conspiracy theory on the part of Leonardo DaVinci.

  11. 11

Mona Lisa always looked like a man to me.

  12. 12

There has been speculation going on about this for years….old news…

  13. 13

That would make a hot mini-series… or movie!!!

Re: PerezTheHypocrite – lol once you wrote Mona Sali I laughed because I Saw Mona LISA Sali he just scrambled the words around haha

  15. 15

this is not news. Art historians have long known of Da Vinci's fluid sexuality, there was plenty of evidence left in various notebooks and journals to verify that his lifestyle tended towards the exotic. This was not an unusual trend amongst artist of the renaissance. Michealangelo also is known to have been gay. This fact, in addition to his propensity towards gambling away all his commissions made it easy for the church to substantially underpay him for his frescoe work, which many believe to be one of the overwhelming reasons his work was able to attain the scale and and noteriety that it did.

it's amazing how uneducated people are about art history man! I mean this stuff has been around for literally hundreds of years…you'd think more people would give a crap.

  16. 16

……so Mona Lisa is not of a woman, it's of a cross dresser?

  17. 17

Perez, that rumor has been going on for, like, the past SEVERAL CENTURIES. Congratulations, you just discovered warm water.

  18. 18

It always has to be about something GAY for Perez. What a scam - and really who gives a shit?

  19. 19

So all artists are homosexual? You are an idiot.

  20. 20

Re: PerezTheHypocrite – Actually, if you bothered to read something other than trashy gossip sites like this one you'd have been aware that the scientific community, not the LGBT one has long speculated that Leonardo Da Vinci was gay and that Salai was his lover. But then again, the reading of actual books is beyond the intellectual capacity of someone who believes in the existence of a "gay agenda".

  21. 21

What do i think…? I think this is OLD NEWS!!!!!!!
Heard this many times in the past! Nothing new… (as usual with your site these days)

Re: diAMONd773 – the bigoted idiot just proved the case, mona lisa is mona sali

  23. 23

There have always been rumors about this painting–that it was a wife of someone, that it was Leonardo himself, etc. I don't think it matters; I never liked the painting anyway. The man was a genius 12 times over, and his sculptures and drawings and inventions and insights are more than enough to offset this boring painting and its multiple interpretations.

But don't refer to him as "da Vinci." That wasn't his surname. His name was Leonardo.

da Vinci refers only to the city he was from.

  24. 24

eeeww that was an ugly boy then…. y am i missing maury to post about this shit.

  25. 25

    Such bullshit..yawn.

  26. 26

We knew for ages that Leonardo was gay !!

  27. mayi says – reply to this

Come on, there were always speculations on his sexual orientation. Where the hell have you been living? That's nothing new. Everyone knows Da Vinci liked men, especially young boys, too young.

That being said, I think Vinceti is just trying to make the papers by stirring old stories and pretending to make new discoveries.

  28. 28

I don't think it matters at all if Leonardo was a homosexual or not. There are many famous writers, painters, and historic figures who have had speculation of being gay.
It doesn't make any difference to how brilliant and talented they were.

  29. 29

This is old news, they mentioned this in art class at college 15 years ago.

  30. 30

WOW. People are dumber than I knew. I'm an art historian with a concentration in Italian Renaissance art and I can say with absolute certitude that this IS NOT Leonardo's lover. This is a rumor that has been around for decades and could not be more incorrect. Documentation has existed for quite some time now proving her identity as a WOMAN- the wife of a wealthy banker who commissioned the portrait of his wife. Her name was Lisa Giocondo. This is a ridiculous rumor.

Furthermore, for the person who insulted the Mona Lisa as a painting in itself (LOL!)- that statement is clearly only a result of your ignorance about art, particularly art of the great masters in the canon of art history. Why do you think it's so praised? It's not necessarily because she's the most beautiful woman you've ever laid eyes on, it's actually because he revolutionized portraiture of the time and the Mona Lisa is the epitome of that achievement. He invented a completely new method of portraiture which was emulated by artists of his day and others to follow centuries later. I would go into the details explaining precisely WHAT was so novel and inventive with the work, but I have a strong feeling it would be wasted on you. Enjoy your ignorance, you uncultured moron :)

  31. 31

I've been thinking this for such a long time. Ever since I saw of painting of Gian and found out the Mona Lisa was given to him as a present. Of course its him.

  32. 32

mona lisa is fucking ugly.. everybody is fucking hung up on this damn painting…just fuck it already

  33. 33

the mona lisa has ALWAYS looked like a man. at least i always though she looked like a man. the picture above is not a good image of the painting but if anyone sees a good replication, she has man hands, a man face and even an adams apple. there is also no indication of breasts.

  34. 34

I still think it's the feminized version of Leonardo himself.

  35. 35

Seriously guys? To all of you haters, is this really what you spend your time doing? Saying rude things because you have nothing better to do? Especially after saying that "no one cares", because you OBVIOUSLY care enough to comment. Really, it's not-so-smart people like you who make ME feel like a genius. I personally didn't know this, so thanks Perez =)
    Love always,
