Xtina Devastated About Super Bowl Mess Up, Releases Statement

| Filed under: Christina AguileraMusic MinuteOops!ZportzPerezTVEvents

On Sunday, Christina Aguilera sang the Star Spangled Banner live at the Super Bowl (above), and unfortunately messed up the lyrics.

Xtina has gotten quite a bit of attention for her lyrical mishap. Here's what sources had to say about it:

"This was the biggest performance of her career and she blew it. To mess up the lyrics was a disaster."

"A hush fell over the stadium and everyone was looking at each other."

According to a source, Xtina is devastated with her mistake, and she feels that she let America, and herself down.

Here's what she had to say about her major flub:

"I got so caught up in the moment of the song that I lost my place. I can only hope that everyone could feel my love for this country and that the true spirit of its anthem still came through."

We all make mistakes, Xtina. Certainly, this was a bigger one, but we appreciate what you're saying here, and we doubt too many people will take it as a sign of disrespect for the country.

First she should know the lyrics- she has been singing the anthem long enough. Secondly, her voice sounds like shit… too many riffs, so scratchy and I'm just so over her!

    Fugly Stupidtina

she has such an amazing voice

Re: Luke Warm – Amen to that brother! This isn't American Idol! It represents what this country is all about! If there is so much pressure to NOT forget the words then perhaps they should have teleprompters as a backup!

  6. 106

A hush DID NOT fall over the stadium, people loved her performance….this blog should be blocked,it spreads FAKE NEWS….Perez should DIE

It happened, it's over. Moving on…

  9. 109

She should've sang it like Whitney Houston did that time. And Whitney could've easily screamed it out but she didn't! Christina is such a tool I swear!

  10. 110

My 9 year old knows every word to this song. She sang it at local baseball game, AS IT WAS WRITTEN, without all the bs "runs", with no cue cards. She was a little pitchy at times, but she did great. In front of many thousands of people!

For Christina to not take the time to ensure she knew EVERY WORD to that song shows that she is either really stupid or really arrogant. And I agree with other posters that it is disrespectful to take this song and change the melody and make words like "Watched" 9 syllables. Just sing the damn song with reverence and respect.

Were you in the stadum, Ash?

This is devastating to America! Never mind that our country is being hijacked by the central banking system. Never mind that our last president and vice president can't travel to other countries because he will be arrested for torture. Nah! No biggie! That's totally not embarrassing to our country, but the most important thing here is that Christina Aguilera messed up one line of the National Anthem at a retarded sporting event. Lame!

  13. 113

Big deal, it's a silly, very difficult song to sing. At least the girl was singing live, and she blew it the fuck it the fuck up. This girl can really sing. However she is looking a little bloated in the face. I hope she is not on the sauce as some are suggesting.

  14. 114

Perhaps this is a big deal for random "sources" who want to give overly dramatic statements like "This was the biggest performance of her career and she blew it." As far as Aguilera is concerned I doubt she'll care about her mistake a week from now, because a week from now people will have completely forgotten about it.

Re: AshNrj – a hush DID fall over the stadium after this dumb whore said "thank you" - go see it on YouTube - NO EFFIN APPLAUSE, just a stadium full of people saying "Oooo, can't wait to see THAT fuckup again when I get home!" Pretty goddamn sad!

  16. 116

I'm not a Christina fan, nor am I a Gaga fan. Actually, I find them both irritating. But not as irritating as the "new and improved" Perez. Once again you start off with the requisite compassion and understanding, "We all make mistakes, Xtina." BUT, you THEN make a nasty jab, "Certainly, this was a bigger one…" further proving YOU HAVEN'T CHANGED! You are still a hateful, humongous DOUCHE!!!

  17. 117

Re: AshNrj – Shut up. You are seriously annoying, and stop with the fucking caps lock. It doesn't make anything you say sound any better. It just makes you look like a retard who likes caps lock.

  18. 118

can't understand the media interest in this - she sang fantastically in front of a 100 million people and she got a few words wrong - she's amazing and blows people like britney out of the water - give her a break for god's sake.

  19. 119

Good lord…. Really? Its almost like everyone wants her to fail…. She messed up a line…. its not like she shot and killed everyone that was there. Im starting to think that people are getting way to caught up and bothering them selves to much with what Christina Aguilera is doing, and not worrying enough about stuff that is really important…. Its times like this that I'm glad my grandparents arnt alive because they would die if they heard half the stupidity and lack of common sense that people use anymore.

  20. 120

don't be too hard on the girl. it wasn't such a big deal. but i'm not american.

  21. 121

It seems to me Usa wants to forget all the other bad stuff and focus on the little things like Janet showing her tit or Xtina forgetting a few words, which is understandable because of the HUGE pressure singing live on super bowl. Also don't understand all the fuss about the Tom Cruise jumping on the couch few years ago. It just seems odd to concentrate to things like that.

  22. 122

WOW its only an anthem who cares everyone messes up sometimes what makes this any different I don't know the anthem, does that mean im a failure…

Re: BooBoo Kitty – Christina has been singing this since she was 7. Congrats on your kid singing at the local baseball game, Christina was singing at the Stanley Cup finals when she was 11, and for the Pirates & the Steelers too. She's been singing since before your kid was born, hell before I was born too. She JUST sang the anthem twice for the NBA Finals. She knows the words, she lost her place & fucked up cause she's human. She didn't mean to hurt yours or anyones feelings or disrespect anyone. I hope you teach your child that sometimes in life you mess up no matter how many times you try or practice. The entire country watched Christina make a mistake & now the entire world is making fun of her for it. Hopefully your kid never has to go through anything like that. She was asked to sing the song for a reason, for those vocal runs & those notes she can hit. She did over sing I agree, because she realized she messed up & she tried to sing the best she could. Should she have just given up? She doesn't ALWAYS oversing. The 1 time she fucks up & the wolves come, ignoring all the times she's done perfectly, to songs she wrote herself & performs live with dancing & no lip synching of auto tune. Celebs are human too.

  24. 124

The problem was that she was too concerned with showing off her vocal chops. OK Christina, we all know you can sing like a black girl but just F-ing sing the national anthem the way it was written you self-centered idiot.

  25. 125

She flubbed one line! Big deal! It's like people are looking for a reason to shit on her. People are overly critical and ignorant. There is no question that Xtina has one of the most beautiful voices so give her a break.

  26. 126

If she didn't over sing the song then maybe she would have been able to remember the lyrics.

  27. 127

Re: IVIV – I agree with everything you say. I don't even think it would be that talked about if it not have been for these self serving media whores called US Weekly and whoever else jumps on the bandwagon to put someone down. She didn't run over someone she flubbed one line and people are acting like she should leave the business you have got to be kidding she is HUMAN just like the rest of us people. I bet all these assholes couldn't sing one note to save their life. People believe when I say you are not worth the sweat of Xtina's asshole for her to lose sleep over this.

  28. 128

maybe if she put in less "yeahs" and stopped riffing she wouldn't have messed up the lyrics,

  29. 129

I wouldn't be able to even speak in front of a crowd that large. Sometimes our closest memories such as lyrics to a long-held song are the first memories to evacuate in a stress situation. I'm not mad at her.

Re: JadesandRoses – thank you! :) and I completely agree with you as well. I think the whole thing is being blown WAY out of proportion, and I KNEW that would happen. People are acting like she did it on purpose, or like she set a flag on fire and threw up the bird and told everyone to go fuck themselves lol I mean come on it was a mistake and she never meant to upset anyone. She's sang the anthem a million times before. She knows the words, and has been singing it since she was 7 years old! She's a human and lost her spot. People are so mean sometimes and it looks like bullying is still alive and well :/

  31. 131

When ever (will never happen) Joan Rivers becomes as talented as Christina Aguilera she can critic her on a flub,( oh yeh forgot that Joan is definitely more talented in one area - getting FACE LIFTS and lypo suction - slap yourself DB) otherwise take her act somewhere else, preferably where no one else has to listen. Anthem sounded great to me and I'm a Canadian and i do know all the words. CHAO

    I love Christina ! She's a human! :)
