Hall Gets His Own TV Show Without Oates

| Filed under: TV NewsMusic Minute

Daryl Hall of Hall & Oates is taking his webisodes to the big(ger) screen.

Tribune Broadcasting has picked up 36 half hour episodes of Live from Daryl's House, based off his web series of the same name.

The show, which will air in select markets this fall, is all about the better half of the singing duo playing music with his celebrity friends.

Sorry, Oates. Guess you only have a face for radio.

Hall has made solo records, and was sort of the face of the duo. Oates seemed to be happier a little further out of the spotlight. So no surprise. I've seen the webcast and it's good. Too bad so few mainstream acts have any artistic talent nowadays, but he has a lot of classic pop stars on it.

I've been watching Live From Daryl's House for a long time now. It a cozy and feel good thing and the music is fabulous. There are some surprising guests, like Chromeo, for instance. You don't know what kind of music to expect, but Daryl and the guys are so versatile and talented that it always sounds right and totally effortless. It's really a lot of fun. I've always liked Hall and Oates. And you know, Oates is talented too. Don't shortchange him!

I'm telling Jennifer Aniston on you. You still haven't graduated from "Bully Rehab" and continue to be a mean, small person. If you actually knew anything about anything, you'd know that Hall and Oates were very much a duo in the early days. Much of their music is co-written. John Oates sings lead vocals on "She's Gone" (best breakup song EVER). For many reasons, I'm sure, mainly, Daryls voice being more commercial, Daryl did become more of the front man. They continue to be loyal friends and colleagues after more than 30 years, something some of the younger crowd seems to know nothing about. I'm glad Daryl's series will be on TV, and yes, John is a frequent guest. It's a fun show, lots of different kinds of artists respecting each others talents and putting out some great music. Hmmmm, respect. Perez you might try it sometime.
